  • @DizzyDougTV I ve seen one of your editing videos on a mac and I said this is very awesome. I just got a mac and I have this hd pvr but for some reason when I converted the acvhd to mp4 it didn't work when I drag it into imovie. I want to start working on video game comentary and editing if you can guide me on the steps and what programs I would highly apreciate it. I would check more of your videos but the wi fi signal on my fone is down.

  • This video was extremely helpful; thank you very much! I have a few questions though. 1) I have a Ps3, and I want to purchase this HDPVR. Does the Hauppauge HDPVR 1212 come with all the cables necessary to plug in from my Ps3, to the HDPVR, to my tv? Or do I need to go to the store and purchase a set of component cables (red, green, blue)? Please reply ASAP. Thanks again!

  • iv got a problem with my HD PVR i plugged it all in im using iMac software called hdpvrcapture but its only recording audio

  • I want to get this thing to record my vcr tapes onto my computer. Am I able to do this? And can I burn them onto dvds?

  • please answer- on the ps3 there are only red, yellow, white cables. how do i use those to fit all the needs of the pvr

  • This video was extremely helpful, thank you. That component video switch is genius, could be my lifesaver someday if I can afford all this! Thanks again!

  • @shinjanaytor Thanks for the kind words, and you're welcome.

  • i know you can get a HDMI to component audio+video but will it work on the PVR ?

  • @dizzydougtv hey nice tutorial...do you know how to record you r in game chat with turtle beaches or Trittons? i've heard that you do it in optical cable mode but i dont know how....if you reply thank you :D

  • @themadman697 hey nice tutorial...do you know how to record you r in game chat with turtle beaches or Trittons? i've heard that you do it in optical cable mode but i dont know how....if you reply thank you :D

  • Just a suggestion for the future: mention the HD PVR does NOT have a hard drive. Without hooking it up to a PC/Mac, it simply will not record any footage. It uses your PC/Mac's HDD as the recording destination.

The HD PVR differs from other PVRs in this way.

  • @JamesStewartRider The HD PVR does not have a HDMI input/output, so the max resolution you can get is 1080i. If you can find something that will let you record the HDMI into your new laptop, then you can record the 1080p; but that will most likely be a screen capture program, which may have frame rate jumps. Remember, HDMI has copy protection built into it.

  • PLEASE ANSWER BACK

hey..im getting an hd pvr and i was wondering what i needed software wise.... i have imovie that came with my macbook pro(2009 i think) i seen in other video that you needed eyetv? how much would it be to buy eyetv (is it an app or a physical item)?

  • Please please answer

can u have a different hd pvr?

  • @SuraTheBaws There isn't a different HD PVR.

  • @DizzyDougTV Like a bell HD pvr?

  • @SuraTheBaws There is one other hd pvr like this, the "Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle", it similar but has HDMI in/out also.

I think it costs about the same HOWEVER it is for USB 3.0 PCs only, so it will not work with most computers.

  • just so everybody knows you can by an adaptor to be able to use hdmi and vga with your hauppauge and record on your pc

  • hey man i need help i have eye tv 3.4 and on a mac with my hd pvr now it is not connected to my xbox 360 but eye tv 3.4 wont recognize it does the xbox need to be turned on while connected for it to work?

  • does the pvr have editing software with it or no

  • @SouRxPS3 Yea,its called Total Media Extreme

  • Doug. I have everything hooked up right, however, I get no video out of the PVR. Any suggestions?

  • Could anyone please tell me how you connect a VCR to PVR has Doug must be to busy helping people to answer my question. The VCR only runs by scarts, I have the adapter but the PVR is not picking anything up when I am plugging it in. Please help!!!

  • This was realy good help for me, thanks.

  • hey doug i have a question

for my ps3 i want to record in hd but since it doesn't have an hdmi port how can i get component cables for the ps3

  • @x32OTEBx from stores or online.

  • @x32OTEBx you can get component cables online or at like best buy & Future shop etc..

  • Hey Doug hopefully you see this or somebody thats knows what they're talking about does : ) I have a standard tv with component inputs but i was wondering if it will record in standard or high def? please don't reply if you're not 100 percent sure : ) i'm not trying to be rude...

  • @Kingpin3o7 vie explained this in almost every video I've done on the HD PVR. But, ine more time.

The HD PVR records based on the video settings of the device/console it's connected to. If the console is set to 720p, your recording will be in 720p, etc...

So, being that you're using a SDTV, the recordings will be whatever you hsvr your console set to. More than likely 480p as it doesn't support being set to resolutions your TV does not support.

  • Great vid.

  • @THEDONKSTA Thanks.

  • @DizzyDougTV DizzyDougTV > machinima

awsome vid thnx for the help :)

  • You deserve more subs

  • Can i still use my Turtle Beach headset with the HD PVR? And if i can, how?

  • i need help it worked fine yesterday and some hours later i get no screen and it says no video signals can you help me ?

beacuse i know how to convert and edit it . i have been on this shit in over 8 hours i need help as fast as possible.

  • do i need a hd tv to record hd? i know stupid ? but i dont know!

  • @MrXTryhard I covered that in the video. Watch it.

  • I was wondering if you could help me out with an issue Im having with my HDPVR? It hasn't been covered in your videos.

  • i have everything setup correctly.. then i get a picturere in arcsoft and all then after like 20 seconds it just cuts and says that the device is in use elsewhere... etc.. im thinkin its talkin bout the ps3 but i have tried for hours to fix :( look at my channel... newest upload is the attempt to record... you see it cut off

  • Thank you so much for the time you invest in the training videos. I really appreciate them!

  • @jwaite550 You're welcome.

  • why does modern warfare 2 or any other game on ps3 lag 1 1/2 seconds? anyone?

my computer has a quadcore & ati 3870 graphics card.

  • @DizzyDougTV, thanks for this video Doug. I purchased the HD PVR on the back of your original videos and it's a delightful piece of hardware, made a couple of vids for YouTube of my Xbox360 action (edited on a Mac of course :-) )

    Keep up the good work!

  • @mattvandam1 Thank you. Glad you enjoy..

  • @mattvandam1 Thanks, man. I appreciate the kind words.

  • One question does it come with a set of component cables?

  • @endlesstime41 Yes. It does. I have the unboxing on my channel, if you wanna check it out. Not the best video as I was at work, in a telco room.

  • ok i watched the whole video almost 2 times... so plz dont get mad if this is a dumb question, but if i hav a standard def tv how does the RGB match up with my yellow on my tv? Do i need a special cord?

  • @nVuSGaming It doesn't. As I said in this video To use the HD PVR with a non HDTV, it has to have component inputs. NOT composite.

  • My question is how do i change the capture frame rate? I record games with no issue, but i have problems with recording anime with a few dropped frames and the audio going out of sync.

  • @birddogg62 Those are software adjustments.

  • @DizzyDougTV Ok i gess i'll have to wait until the software video then.

  • @birddogg62 In this video I mentioned that it would be on my channel along with all of the other HD PVR tutorials I have done. In a playlist titled....HD PVR.. LOL. Link in the video description.

  • Great video again Doug. Very informative, as always.

You have a very similar setup to me with the switchbox. Hopefully this tutorial into the HDPVR gives you a lot less questions to answer!

In case anyone in the UK needs to know where to buy this then Play.com or Dabs.com are two good places!

  • @Mr720p Thanks!

  • Great video. But I really want a video on how exactly are your settings on the software, especially on the HDPVR Capture, which I use (cheaper than Eyetv ;p) and what are the exact settings when you import the video from iMovie or something similliar.

Beacuse I know how to import but have no idea what the technical terms in the programs all mean and it is tedious to try out 100 different settings to find the right one.

  • @locke89 Doug did a video showing some good settings when using HD PVR Capture, as well as using iMovie. Take a look at it. :) It's called: "HDPVR CAPTURE Tutorial: Capture & Edit Workflow".

  • @Mr720p Thank you. Apparently he missed the part where I said all of the videos i've done on the HD PVR are in a playlist on my channel, and that the link was in this video description. Sheesh!!. LOL.

  • @locke89 Again. This video is about the hardware. As I said in the video, I linked to ALL of the HD PVR videos and tutorials I've done in the video description. If you look, you WILL find what you seek.

  • This is very easy to use, i don't understand why people keep asking the same question, i mean i got you the first time i watched your video, and it was very easy very easy!!!!! is not really a big deal, i already uploaded a bunch of videos using the Hauppauge. I think this people keep asking the same question because they just want to make you mad or they really idiots!!! i have seen some unboxing videos of kids setting up the Hauppauge and everything.

  • @LightingUP80 I can see how some people who aren't very technically literate would have questions. But I don't understand why people come to a tutorial, don't watch, yet ask questions expecting an answer. I LOVE to help people. That's why I do what I do...But I flat out refuse to help someone who is not willing to help themselves.

BTW. I don't get mad. But it does cause me to lose faith in some people. :)

  • people only want to know if it has hdmi because they think because it has "hd" in it you need hdmi hence the questions that ask "doesn't it need hdmi to record in hd"

  • @SeriousGarbageMan Not exactly true. The Xbox 360 when released did not have an HDMI connection. It wasn't until three years later that HDMI was added to it.

  • @DizzyDougTV well whenever i see questions about the hd pvr out there just on gameplay videos and such everyone asks that question. even though some might not mean that a lot actually do.

  • @SeriousGarbageMan Well, that's what some entities want people to believe, so they can't capture their content in high quality or HD. This has given uneducated consumers the impression that HDMI is needed for HD quality. When in reality it is not. And both are capable of the same or very similar bandwidth.

HDMI was created for the sole purpose of digital copy protection. Period!

    Analog hole FTW!!

  • excellent job doug.your videos have helped me alot.i have spent some time with my pvr,i have finally figured out the best recording and rendering settings.it takes alot of testing, but its worth it for sure.the hauppauge pvr is an excellent piece of technology. regards from ireland

  • @TheBakkwardsMan Thank you. I appreciate the kind words. And you're right. It's not rocket science as I said in this video, but it does take some "tinkering", desire to help yourself, and a little common sense.

  • i dont think its in this video but b4 this get so many comment umm yea when i open hdpvrcapture on the mac it does not let me choose the option vlc and i have looked for this question for some time now ?????

  • @EastCoastSniipers This video is about the hardware. Not answering software questions in this video. Hardware, hardware, hardware.....

  • @DizzyDougTV yea but non of your other videos cover this and no forum really seems to know since ur all pro i guess mabye u would know and help out man

  • @EastCoastSniipers There are other videos on my channel, more specifically the HD PVRCapture tutorial where this question can be posted and answered. Or you can dm it to me.

Again, this video is all about the hardware of the HD PVR.

  • If you are in the UK you can purchase the HD PVR 1212 from play.com for £170. If they are out of stock also try a website called limexb360.co.uk

  • @georgetommo Well done. Thank you...

  • @DizzyDougTV Thats okay. I knew there would be some comments asking about it, and as im buying mine from there, i knew it was a secure answer :) great video

  • I have a standard 480p TV and I have an HD PVR and I have a Xbox 360. If I bought HD componet cables and sent them from my xbox to my pvr and my pvr to my TV. Would it record in HD? or would it still be 480p?

  • @MrXboxHD This is covered in the video.

  • @MrXboxHD you can record in 480p but it wont look as nice as 720p. I may cost a little money, but trust me from experience its a lot better if you buy a 720p tv.

  • @georgetommo i want to buy an HDTV but my parents think they are a waste of money so even if I i get the money myself they won't let me buy it :(

  • @MrXboxHD if you send me a private message, i will send you a link to a video that shows you the recording 480p

  • nice camera angles!

  • @LiveHaze Thsnks! Tried to mix it up a bit.

  • i love my Hauppauge HD!!!

    lol

  • @gustavodenis So do I.

  • 1st yay lol
