A real treat is the TOT delivery. Time On Target. That is the hand of God slapping your enemy. 24 rounds of 205 lb projo's (projectiles) landing in a 100 meter grid square. 6 digit coordinates gets you 100 meters and 8 gets you 10 meters. I was a surveyor for the time I was at Sill. I have seen the 5/18 C Battery drop a dummy round in a 55 gallon drum at 9 miles out. Bad fuckin ass.
Spent 14 months at Ft Sill OK before entering Ranger School and become a Ranger. This I know. WP has many uses. As a screen for troop movements, foliage removal, and deterent. The deterent is (if you keep your shit up, we will dump the fires of hell upon you). It works really well. However, cry baby liberals have decided to play war with a sense of care and compasion. I say burn those (any enemy) fuckers back to the carbon base they came from.
@DQO91 I spent 4 years as a 13-Banger. Good luck to you. When do you leave for Sill? Cannoneer or forward observer, you're joining a proud tradition. When you get wherever, watch, listen & learn. This may be one of the most amazing times of your life. Be safe. Be real.
@DQO91 Ft. Sill is a great experience. Basic is a story all its own.. You''ll be at Bravo 1-78th for AIT as a 13F in training.. The first chance you get, study your maps. Study your call for fire. If you want to be really fucking badass, grab a JFIRES manual (the fire support bible) and study every call for fire mission on the weekends instead of dickin around lol.
I studied that shit so much.. I instantly recognize this too, this is the FO range north of the battery. You'll march out there.
80 percent of all U.S. casualties during WWII were to artillery and mortar fire. Goes to show you how strong and effective this really is on the battlefield.
correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't White Phospherous munition a banned weaponry ? It was listed as an inhumane weapon ( in the same category as flamethrower, white phospherous eats / burns through skin and flesh ), that categorization is silly though; after all, ain't weapons inhumane tools to begin with?
@melvinthedeathless it's not meant to be used on humans. It is a preferred munition for equipment, vehicles, and fuel: anything that burns well. except people. brings to mind an old running cadence about napalm and its properties.
It's not banned. And it won't cause any more casualties, or any worse casualties, in an attack than High Explosives with Variable Timed fuses.
It is used mostly for signals, concealment, incendiary, and marking targets by "Western" armed forces. That last use, marking targets, is ironic. Marking a target with WP increases the accuracy of other weapons firing, and decreases the chances of accidental civilian casualties.
As a big you can twist puppets. If puppets are democratic ore undemocratic you will not care because the interest is your guide and interest is ''glory of Rome''. Silent majority is for glory (although they weep for the dead loved ones). If big tries to twist big there got to be good reason, and as in first case it's interest and it has nothing to do with way of life. The way Russians live is there way. But with puppets it isn't. Logic of force, allways and with pure humanity.
i dont get it why arent we allowed to use wp and clusters? its fucking war the object is to exterminate the enemy with extreme predjudice. none of this unfair or inhumane bullshit. whoever i am at war with is not considered human theyre just another target.
You're right. The dirtiest war is, in the end, the most humane because it's the shortest and thereby actually saves countless lives. The person who said that, in more-or-less those words, was Adolf Hitler.
Aight boy's, lets throw every conventions down the trash and kill unarmed POWs. Cause you know, they're evil non-human killing machines, and we are truly the righteous ones.
no hitler thought that killing INNOCENTS was righteous and all that bullshit.NONE of the fucks we are at war with are innocent because every one of them has a fucking bomb strapped to their back or is going to drive a fucking plane into a camp OR is going to use children as suicide bombers.THAT IS NOT INNOCENT AND THEIR EXTERMINATION WOULD BE DOING THE WORLD A FAVOR.live with it and learn you place asshole

But yet it's perfectly fine for terrorists to use airplanes full of civilians to attack targets. And you're concerned about Willy pete? The point of warfare is to have an advantage over your enemy, that's how wars are won. Soon enough there will be treaties banning the use of surprise....
At this point it would be useful for you to get a grip on the situation. I was pointing out that it's ironic that everyone freaks out about WP, yet nobody looks at the context of modern warfare in general. Much like, for example, how everyone freaks out about a Marine throwing a puppy off a cliff (which was revolting and wrong, yes) but nobody even cares to look at how terrorists strap bombs on kids and have them detonate in crowded markets when US soldiers are around.
I'm just trying to put things in context. I'm not using 9/11 to promote anything nor am I justifying their acts. What the terrorists did was wrong, and 9/11 was the birth of my resolve (I decided to join the military that day, I don't know what you were doing).

Is "Pogs" Your best word? you sound like a fucking 6 year old that doesn't know fucking english and doesn't take things like a man. You are so fucking retarded.
@Dubaifreak I agree, I used one of some sort of artillery in 2008 at Singleton, NSW, couldn't get the sight of a car just vanishing out of my head ;-)
When it is on the skin, you have to evac the soldier and keep the limbs/exposed areas under water. WP will destroy equipment and nobody will want to use it. If your gun gets over-run, you're supposed to drop a WP or Thermite grenade down the tube so it can't be used against our own troops.
Looked like Willie Pete at first! WP is a MOFO! It keeps burning & burning & burning, unless it is under water. I prefere DPICM. Gimme diamonds to get rid of the bad guys. Short of clusters, use DPICM. Haven't been able to use GB H VX for a long time. Can't even use CS anymore! WTF!?!?
Are you sure that WP can't burn under water? I don't know for a fact that it can't, but I know that if WP is burning and you put water on it, it continues to burn.
Yeah, I know that napalm is resistant to water, but I also believe that WP is as well. You used to have to literally cut off the skin where WP got on you. If you could put some water from a canteen on it, then there would be no need to cut the skin off.
As it only burns in contact with atmoshpheric oxygen, and is a powder until at high temperature, when it becomes a vapour, I think that submerging a wound would extinguish any burning. From what I can find, some countries use 2% copper sulfate to make harmless compounds that can be washed off but that is fairly toxic. Or else just bicarbonate solutions.
The cutting-off-the-skin treatment is seen in We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, when a grenade goes off near a soldier.
Well, thanks for correcting me. We never did any training with it, maybe they do nowadays. That scene in We Were Soldiers was not the first time I heard about it, but that is definitely the what I think about when WP comes up in a talk.
white phosphorus burn just about anything in its range from the and if a person is hit by one of these things the ONLY way to even keep the fire from burning is cover their body in mud because most likely you will not survive these but if you do you better thank god and whoever saved you
Other than mud (which only sometimes works), the most common and effective way of getting phosphorus off is to take a knife and remove the area where the phosphorus is. In a combat situation, this is the only real remedy.
Ok for all those who have homemade cannons and think theyre hot shit, think again, these are the big boomers so next time you say " my cannon ownz!" think about this vid and say to yourself OH SHIT THEY OWN MORE!!

i hate the people saying we went to war for oil, we didnt, but i just want allof you to know we ought the japenese in ww2 over oil, yeah i guess we shouldnt have fought that war huh, were in iraq because saddam broke the laws the un gave to him back when he had an unconditional surrender, we were supposed to go in there and clean him out after gulf war I but the french and russians lent him money and they would have never seen a dime if we went in there, like it or not
If you really think that the US Army is the peace corps and went there for terrorists and world peace then you are a very naive and narrow minded man. It's people like you who your warmongering leaders wish to run. You had to fight the Japanese for your honor and dignity. It's time to wake up buddy, the world ain't pink ;)
we where getting our oilfrom the same place the japs where but we where taking more, so they bombed us for it, honor and dignity? we wher enuetral till they bombed us for it, im sorry but no army travels half way around the world to bomb an island for honor or dignity, we where taking oil, they had none
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wow and your german, and you want to complain we have no right to start a war????? bahaha well if that isnt the pot calling the kettle black, well at least we win the wars we start, and we dont kill half a relgion either your kraut
It wasn't the US which started the war, and you don't win all the wars. I hardly call Vietnam a "win". I can see all this fighting in the Middle East going exactly the same way which that did...
@wasincox yea we fought the japanese but they are damm lucky we had the HUMANITY not to drop more bombs once there facade was gone they gave in and our peacefull leaders agreed to end it
When the US requested that they send 800 Black Watch regiment soldiers to Iskandiriyah (in the sunni triangle) to free up some US Marines for the assault on Fallujah, the brits realised that berets, smiles, and knocking on doors in this area gets you shot to pieces in this area. Their casualties were triple what they were in Basrah. And Iskandiriyah was one of the most peaceful areas in the Sunni triangle, imagine the tactics they would use in Bahgdad or Ramadi.
We have no right to be there anyway, Afghanistan, okay, yeah, pure brutality by the Taliban, sure, almost as bad as North Korea. But Iraq? Iraq was fluctuating the price of oil by breaking Saudi set quotas which has an influence on the worldwide market, lets get real, this is what the war is about, bin Laden declared jihad on Saddam for being secular. Saddam is no more brutal than the countless other regimes that USA, UK and other nations are bum buddies with.
Get real, stupid. how many wars in the history of mankind have not been fought for economic reasons? The economy and control of resources is what every war has ever been fought over. And what is wrong with that?
Even still, the brits managed to fuck it up anyways. They sat in their FOB's, sipping coffee, only patrolling when Haley's comet made another go, only leaving the wire for photo opputrunities. That's why the Sadr boys took the place over, and when the brits picked up and left Basrah, they had no real control over the place. How they fucked that up is beyond me.
1d, your sources about the "superior" way in which the British handle things come form the Guardian, which goes out of it's way to portray the brits as heroes and the Americans as thungs (it's British after all). What they don't tell you is that Basrah, the British area of responsiblity is 99% shia muslim, with no strife and almost no insurgency.
I don't condone Britain or USA's venture into Iraq. This war is illegal. Afghanistan, may have had some moral justifications, but Iraq has none. The Guardian is an anti-war paper, not anti-American. I didn't mean to make out like Brit's were acting saintly, but US forces are using White Phospherous, in built up areas, and many US forces just shoot whatever moves. Cold War Armies are not counter insurgent forces.
The US army has been undergoing transformation from a cold war army to a power projection force capable of both counter insurgency and and conventional army since 91. US forces react more violently because the areas they are in are far mor violent than the areas the British are in.
This isn't a comparisson of dick sizes, British fighting in Afghanistan is no picknick. My point is carelessness causes an influx of insurgents. What would you do if a member of your family was killed by an occupying army? Say a child, a wife, a brother or whatever, say by a Muslim army occupying USA? Accident or no, you would go apeshit.
white phospherous is a chemical weapon, identical in effects to the now banned NAPALM, W.P. incinerates the lungs of those who breathe it in and it burns the body down to the bones, literally! It is being used in built up Iraqi civilian areas, to save time weeding out insurgents by regular means, casualties abound...
You fucking liar. We DO NOT use white phosphorous in civilian areas and you fucking know it. You left wing loon. You have your agenda that you are pushing and fabricating anything only helps you. STOP FUCKING LIEING! Its bull shit we have never and will never use WP on civilians you stupid fuck!
On June 22, 2007 New York Times correspondent Michael R. Gordon was interviewed on National Public Radio in a story called "Baquba Residents Displaced by Insurgents" by Melissa Block and Michele Norris. In this interview, Gordon was asked about civilian casualties in Baquba, Iraq. He responded by saying "Yeah, there have been civilian casualties. I was just talking to our photographer and he had seen people who are hurt by phosphorus shells.
part1)It is known, and was widely reported at the time, that British officials and military commanders were already expressing concern about US tactics. The British were concerned in particular about the US assault on Falluja, including the use of white phosphorous which causes severe burns.
part2)Peter Kilfoyle, the former defence minister, said yesterday: "There remain unanswered questions about the discussions [between Mr Blair and Mr Bush] about the attack on Falluja and the subsequent deaths of many hundreds of civilians".
General Sir Mike Jackson, then head of the army, said at the time: "We must be able to fight with the Americans, but that does not mean we must fight as the Americans."
part3)British military chiefs at the time were urging Mr Blair to send extra forces only on British terms, not those of the US, whose tactics they privately damned as brutal and counter-productive. A Foreign Office memo entitled Iraq: The Medium Term, dated May 19 2004 and leaked to the Sunday Times, referred to "heavy-handed" US tactics.
White phospherous is used as a smoke screen to conceal movement. Which means our boys run right through it. For some reason I highly doubt we would use something dangerous, and then make our guys run right through it.....
white phospherous is a chemical weapon, identical in effects to the now banned NAPALM, W.P. incinerates the lungs of those who breathe it in and it burns the body down to the bones, literally! It is being used in built up Iraqi civilian areas, to save time weeding out insurgents by regular means, casualties abound...
Hmm... when I see this I think of rain, and just like rain after certain point in the storm you can no longer distinguish one imapct from another... it all becomes one continuous explosion.
That looks like its going to hurt

"Pog" is a bastardization of the original spelling, "pogue." Of course, the people who use the term "pog" most often aren't exactly Nobel laureates.

When it is on the skin, you have to evac the soldier and keep the limbs/exposed areas under water. WP will destroy equipment and nobody will want to use it. If your gun gets over-run, you're supposed to drop a WP or Thermite grenade down the tube so it can't be used against our own troops.
INDYANDY4C 3 years ago
Looked like Willie Pete at first! WP is a MOFO! It keeps burning & burning & burning, unless it is under water. I prefere DPICM. Gimme diamonds to get rid of the bad guys. Short of clusters, use DPICM. Haven't been able to use GB H VX for a long time. Can't even use CS anymore! WTF!?!?
INDYANDY4C 3 years ago
Are you sure that WP can't burn under water? I don't know for a fact that it can't, but I know that if WP is burning and you put water on it, it continues to burn.
sbald82nd 3 years ago
That's napalm - as a gel, water does little to extinguish it.
BonelloUK 3 years ago
Yeah, I know that napalm is resistant to water, but I also believe that WP is as well. You used to have to literally cut off the skin where WP got on you. If you could put some water from a canteen on it, then there would be no need to cut the skin off.
Also, correct me if indeed I am wrong.
sbald82nd 3 years ago
As it only burns in contact with atmoshpheric oxygen, and is a powder until at high temperature, when it becomes a vapour, I think that submerging a wound would extinguish any burning. From what I can find, some countries use 2% copper sulfate to make harmless compounds that can be washed off but that is fairly toxic. Or else just bicarbonate solutions.
The cutting-off-the-skin treatment is seen in We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, when a grenade goes off near a soldier.
BonelloUK 3 years ago
Well, thanks for correcting me. We never did any training with it, maybe they do nowadays. That scene in We Were Soldiers was not the first time I heard about it, but that is definitely the what I think about when WP comes up in a talk.

what do white phosphorus rounds do?
watcherofmovies93 3 years ago
white phosphorus burn just about anything in its range from the and if a person is hit by one of these things the ONLY way to even keep the fire from burning is cover their body in mud because most likely you will not survive these but if you do you better thank god and whoever saved you
Esquobar 3 years ago
Other than mud (which only sometimes works), the most common and effective way of getting phosphorus off is to take a knife and remove the area where the phosphorus is. In a combat situation, this is the only real remedy.

i hate the people saying we went to war for oil, we didnt, but i just want allof you to know we ought the japenese in ww2 over oil, yeah i guess we shouldnt have fought that war huh, were in iraq because saddam broke the laws the un gave to him back when he had an unconditional surrender, we were supposed to go in there and clean him out after gulf war I but the french and russians lent him money and they would have never seen a dime if we went in there, like it or not

It wasn't the US which started the war, and you don't win all the wars. I hardly call Vietnam a "win". I can see all this fighting in the Middle East going exactly the same way which that did...

And Iskandiriyah was one of the most peaceful areas in the Sunni triangle, imagine the tactics they would use in Bahgdad or Ramadi.
mhesi 4 years ago
We have no right to be there anyway, Afghanistan, okay, yeah, pure brutality by the Taliban, sure, almost as bad as North Korea. But Iraq? Iraq was fluctuating the price of oil by breaking Saudi set quotas which has an influence on the worldwide market, lets get real, this is what the war is about, bin Laden declared jihad on Saddam for being secular. Saddam is no more brutal than the countless other regimes that USA, UK and other nations are bum buddies with.
1d10cy 4 years ago
Get real, stupid. how many wars in the history of mankind have not been fought for economic reasons? The economy and control of resources is what every war has ever been fought over. And what is wrong with that?
docsilvers 4 years ago 2
Even still, the brits managed to fuck it up anyways. They sat in their FOB's, sipping coffee, only patrolling when Haley's comet made another go, only leaving the wire for photo opputrunities. That's why the Sadr boys took the place over, and when the brits picked up and left Basrah, they had no real control over the place. How they fucked that up is beyond me.

1d10cy 4 years ago
1d, your sources about the "superior" way in which the British handle things come form the Guardian, which goes out of it's way to portray the brits as heroes and the Americans as thungs (it's British after all). What they don't tell you is that Basrah, the British area of responsiblity is 99% shia muslim, with no strife and almost no insurgency.
mhesi 4 years ago
I don't condone Britain or USA's venture into Iraq. This war is illegal. Afghanistan, may have had some moral justifications, but Iraq has none. The Guardian is an anti-war paper, not anti-American. I didn't mean to make out like Brit's were acting saintly, but US forces are using White Phospherous, in built up areas, and many US forces just shoot whatever moves. Cold War Armies are not counter insurgent forces.
1d10cy 4 years ago
The US army has been undergoing transformation from a cold war army to a power projection force capable of both counter insurgency and and conventional army since 91. US forces react more violently because the areas they are in are far mor violent than the areas the British are in.
mhesi 4 years ago
This isn't a comparisson of dick sizes, British fighting in Afghanistan is no picknick. My point is carelessness causes an influx of insurgents. What would you do if a member of your family was killed by an occupying army? Say a child, a wife, a brother or whatever, say by a Muslim army occupying USA? Accident or no, you would go apeshit.
1d10cy 4 years ago
white phospherous is a chemical weapon, identical in effects to the now banned NAPALM, W.P. incinerates the lungs of those who breathe it in and it burns the body down to the bones, literally! It is being used in built up Iraqi civilian areas, to save time weeding out insurgents by regular means, casualties abound...
1d10cy 4 years ago

1d10cy 4 years ago
part2)Peter Kilfoyle, the former defence minister, said yesterday: "There remain unanswered questions about the discussions [between Mr Blair and Mr Bush] about the attack on Falluja and the subsequent deaths of many hundreds of civilians".
General Sir Mike Jackson, then head of the army, said at the time: "We must be able to fight with the Americans, but that does not mean we must fight as the Americans."
1d10cy 4 years ago
part3)British military chiefs at the time were urging Mr Blair to send extra forces only on British terms, not those of the US, whose tactics they privately damned as brutal and counter-productive. A Foreign Office memo entitled Iraq: The Medium Term, dated May 19 2004 and leaked to the Sunday Times, referred to "heavy-handed" US tactics.
1d10cy 4 years ago
part4)The memo suggested Britain was making progress towards "a more sensible and sensitive US approach to military operations".

White phospherous is used as a smoke screen to conceal movement. Which means our boys run right through it. For some reason I highly doubt we would use something dangerous, and then make our guys run right through it.....
