ah...I thought it was the VAG...used to sit there often to listen to the buskers, to watch intense skateboarding and those hyperly focused chess dudes : ) Very interesting instrument. Thx for posting this : )
Ya, we hung out for a bit. Burned a fat joint, and then they had to run.
It was at the end of the pot rally.
I only went to the back of the Vancouver art gallery because that's where there was still some sun(Solar Tokes!) and as I rounded the corner....I thought, WTF is that...A steel drum? No...Hmm. :)
I don't know :P I have a friend that can pull that off, as in he doesn't feel silly walking around in a suit jacket all the time. AND* he doesn't feel silly. But he's bi :P HA!
Personally I can't, wear a suit, well or enjoy penis. I suppose if I had to wear a suit, you know, one or the other...I could wear a suit.
Sometimes I do. Usually only for weddings.
I hate logos & shit though, sheep-wear. But I'm not ready to wear a suit everyday.
Its called a hang drum, they were only created in the year 2000. I have heard they are only made in Switzerland. I found apage of hang players back when I was obsessed with them. someone I contacted said something about hang drums being made in America! I live in Canada so that would be nice.
I will try and track down that page, and person I talked to.....
Its been a long time. And I took half a year off from the net. It was nice, in some ways.
If this is real, it's phantastic, even if not, there is a high drummer's quality and sensitivity.
But: It's hard to believe that the sound corpus of this "ufo" instrument can generate such different frequences and harmonics, sounds like a sitar in the background.
Reminds me of ELO and Mahavishnu Orchestra with Ravi Shankar.
Anyway a nice contribution, thank you Hashybee for posting !!
it's real, it's called a Hang Drum (pronounced "hung"). look it up. each dent on the side of the drum is a slightly different size, giving them a different tone when struck.
thats a drum made from panart in switzerland. they are really hard to get a hold of to make one for you.

To me it looks like a steel drum with the outside removed and turned upside down. Cool just the same.
