  • best airline

  • Looks clumsy and obese compared to a B747

  • the runwy looks short

  • @skiesandseasHD OK, I just thought it was strong judging from the sound.

  • You say in your description that the plae took off in a tail wind. I wasn't there so I don't know, and yöu were there and you obviously know what the weather conditions were like, but I don't think they would risk taking off in a strong tail wind just for show on what appears to be a quite short runway. Wasn't it crosswind?

  • excellent video..the engines seem to be very quiet or is it just the video? i've only seen it landing so dont know for real..

  • Very nice!

  • @givemeaccesstothis i just wish they did A380 flights from BHX as i live right next to the airport :(

  • I just got back from Brisbane airport in australia and the A380 Emirates was parked there

  • I'm taking Emirates to Birmingham this Sunday!! So excited!!

but im not taking A380 :\

  • I didnt think the a380 was allowed to land at bhx because of its size.

  • @sanchodayus the a380's landed all over the UK to test/confirm that it wasn't too big. I watched it take off from EDI. She's a big girl

  • @sanchodayus the airbus a380 isn't so long

  • @Leonator579 they're gonna stretch it to hell!

  • Wow :D

  • Did they run off the runway? Lol

  • They wanted to show off ;]

  • @usblg4gb - emirates airlines wanted 2 show off not da airbus company

  • @DaPolishGUY yeh, thats what i meant.

  • From where your filming the runway looks really short, and that was one fast landing!

  • looks like very silent engine, no?

  • its wings is so long and strong, holding 4 engines! i wonder if it broken during the flight, that would be a really diaster! i prefer to fly a plane of smaller in size... so A320 or smaller is better suited me! :))

  • La vidéo est très agréable

  • how does it take off at bhx

  • @roryj123ok The airplane must be very low fuel and cargo. But the fuel must be just enough to stop over a nearby airport. And that airport will the facility to to accommodate the A380 (That includes a long enough runway for Heavy/Fully loaded payload Take-offs.)

  • @torquemenistan The aircraft flew direct to DXB (Dubai) from BHX operating the usual flight. The usualy 777-300ER was simply substituted with the A380 on that day.

The runway may be shorter than some, but it's not short enough that it can't accommodate the A380 for a 6-7 hour flight.

  • birds used to rule the sky i love mans desire for horsepower sorta turns me on

  • I've flown on the a380 from heathrow to Dubai. It was lovely in side spacious wider seats that were comfortable and wider. Best flight I've ever had. Our connecting flight was on 777-300 or 777-200 can't remember and that was back down to reality

  • I was there going "Oh, no we are gonna dieee."

  • 747-400 is the one and the only! a380 is an ugly fat whale...

  • Looks short runway , lol in the begining i thought its going to crash into the camera , and how its landing on this Airport??

  • Interesting that the runway is not level. Anyone know the purpose of this? I'm sure it's by design and not due to drunken English construction workers.

  • Great fantastic vid we have flown from BHX to Dubai on their 777-300er last year good flights and service.

  • Smooth landing

  • boeing is he best

  • Must say great vid i hope bhx makes it's runway longer so jumbos or a380s aren't a one off

  • to jest naprawde??

  • wat a beautiful airline!

  • good job...

  • I have been to that stechford park by the runway and if a plane was to land and explode the observer would be dead, as the perimeter fence is very close

  • Dang, wish i could fly on one of those.

  • what a babe

  • the a380 will be coming to manchester airport everyday from 1ST sept round dinnertime

  • Great work

  • Love the sound of those Trent 900's!!!

  • @Flyglobespan93 Actually Emirates has EA GP7000's on theirs.

  • lol emirates flys to my airport.. toronto pearson.

  • does the a380 fly regulary into birningham or was this a one off???

  • @scottulee It was a one off for the time being at least.

  • @mcpcshowcaseHD I think its a one off period..It was for the 70th anniversary of BHX. Emirates fly a 777 there and that is seasonal as its currently a A330. Its such a small airport i cant ever recall a 747 being there.

  • @mcpcshowcaseHD Yeah, the runway at Birmingham airport isn't long enough for this to be a regular thing for large planes. Presumably because there isn't much of an error tolerence, such as touching down in less-than-perfect conditions, and overshooting the ideal touchdown point by a few hundred metres?

  • @mcpcshowcaseHD BHX has a runway extension plan but it is quite a few years away from completion. I don't expect the A380 to feature here until the runway extension is open.

mcpcshocaseHD will have a better idea but my guess would be that the current runway is too short for an A380 to be able to carry a full load. The BHX-DXB route is served by the Boeing 777-300ER (even if they do cram in 10 seats per row and have cabin crew who ignore passengers!)

  • @scottulee it was there for the 70th anniversary but plans are to exstend runway 33/15 so it will be taking over the boeing 777 route to dubai twice a week

  • @scottulee Just a one off - we had an incident yesterday - Light aircraft - hit the ILS - interestingly it was carrying a "Human Liver" for transplant -

  • @scottulee magno guppy

  • on aurait dit il est dans l' herbe

  • She landed like a leaf on water. Great video, an absolute delight to watch! 5*

  • Thanks I appreciate it (",)

  • Excellent video! I'm guessing the runway is longer than it looks on video and the grassy hill obstructs some of it from our view? I know its wrong, but I really miss loud engines.

You put out some very nice jet videos. Thanks!

  • How on earth did they fit an A380 JUMBO JET on a very small runway

  • @truly0phinoy because it was lightly loaded, similar landing weight to the A330. It wont be normally operating from BHX.

  • by the way, awesome video, how on earth they fitted the A380 in BHX's apron is beyond me. What gate did it park on?

  • Not sure of the Gate Number. It parked at the new International Terminal that opened the same day.

  • @LH287 Probably gate 46 or 48 on the new international Pier.

  • @LH287 its amazing how it fit on such short space

  • wow, check out that wings span, love it!

  • Hi, I am just wondering what HD recorder you use? Thanks :)

  • I use a Sony HandyCam HDR-SR10

  • wow...dude this is a really cool video man...it amazes me how do u always score such cool positions and angles to shoot ya videos ae..totally love it bro..cool stuff!

  • Thanks (",)

  • Great video and thanks for that. Due to a bit of very good luck, my wife and I were inside it when it took off from BHX. It was not 'nearly empty' at all but it did get off the ground very very quickly. It was also very quiet and very smooth. An exellent flight all the way to Dubai.

  • As I can see in your videos, in Birmingham and Manchester, observation points are provided to the people interested in planes. These areas are public accessible and well equipped. Very close to the taxiways or runways. This is impossible in Italy, where I live. I'm a bit envious, but I'd like to praise your Nation, a clear example of culture and civilization.

    P.s. Sorry for my english.

  • ironically, once you're inside airport perimeter, you're not allowed to take pictures, I once took a picture of a Monarch A321 I just disembarqued from the ramp waiting for the bus to the terminal, and the cabin crew told me I wasn't allowed, once inside the terminal you see in several places the "no pictures" sign.... quite the contrast from being inside to outside.

  • Fabulous video !!

  • Simply stunning!! WOW!

  • This was a one off for now. I am thinking that before regular service can start the runway will need to be extended. When taking off from Birmingham during this visit the plane was almost empty compared to what it can carry under normal circumstances. This wouldn't be profitable for A380 carriers.

Emirates have already hinted that Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham are likely candidates for regular A380 service in the future.

  • wow awesome video :) it looked liek a big bird thats coming home.

  • Yeah its the UK (BHX). This was the first time the A380 has landed in the UK outside of Heathrow (for commercial service). Its been to Farnborough of course for the Air Show.

  • Actually thats not completely true. A Singapore Airlines one got diverted to Gatwick last year when the fire alarms went off in the Heathrow tower & it had to be evacuated.

  • The SIA A380 didn't land at Gatwick for commercial service. It was diverted. The A380 has also landed at Farnborough and Filton but again not for commercial service.

  • Nicely done. Using a tripod is well worth it.

  • I never used a tripod to film this - I mainly use my camera handheld!

  • Blimey. I used a little panasonic TZ7. Not a proper video camera. What camera did you use?

  • I use a Sony HandyCam HDR-SR10

  • agreed, since I caught the train, I had no time to see the landing at the park but seeing the landing from the aviation experiance was ok, I wanted to get closer to the a380 :(, everyone at the aviation place was expecting the plane to park near us... which it didn't.. it was parked at the other side of the peir, I took some amazing shots of the takeoff from the car park :)

  • The Airbus needed 35 seconds till it could take off, dyamm thats some small runway!

  • Hmmm does a plane need more runway to land or take-off, =( I felt sorry for that big airbus I really do think it needed a bit more time to slow down.

  • half of the runway was plenty

  • interesting

  • is that sheldon park?

  • It is :0)

  • bye....

  • you couldn't pay me to fly on a Airbus.

  • Very Small Runway

  • Good footage of the A380. It seems to take off quite slowly, but I wonder what the aircraft's take off speed is ?

Seeing the footage makes you realise how big the aircraft is compared to the 747.

  • I was there, couldn't see myself at the other side of the runway, oh well

  • is this at sheldon country park? iv been there

  • It was Sheldon Country Park

  • hahham500

you say you have a better viewing place. how about sharing where it is? I would be most grateful

  • Lol. No prob. By the way, I love how the Trent 900's look on the A380's body. Cheers!

  • nice!!!!!!!! the Airbus A380 is really beautiful

  • I saw the A380 land from a bridge under the flight path by the M42, unfortunately missed the departure as we went to Marston Green as we were expecting it to follow other air traffic. Thanks for the excellent video.

  • I see myself in this video!! :-)

  • I know a better veiw you could of got!

  • I thought this was a great view. I have several side shots of the A380 landing/taking off so I wanted to get her head on landing and departing, especially with the Runway being smaller than most.

  • Yeah, it's the biggest passenger jet, but not the most powerful engines! GE90 is still the winner! Cheers!

  • so... many... people! lol, great video as always. As you know i'm not a fan of the 80 but she does look pretty special coming down that runway.

  • Great vid mate! I was there too, came down from EGCC :D

  • Thanks - Was this the first time you had seen the A380? What did you think of her?

  • Yes, first time! I was speechless, the bird really is a Marvel in Engineering!

  • Great! I knew you'd be able to capture this! 5 stars!

  • Beautiful!

  • Great video, I noticed she needed almost all the runway to stop as expected!

  • I can confirm wind direction didn't change much at all all day and if I am right I think the wind speed had dropped about takeoff time the noise of the wind on the film is I believe from the engines.because if you look at the grass you can see the back draft.

I was there myself and I have to say your video is very impressive. However anyone who gets the chance to see this aircraft for themselves GO you will not be disappointed.

Superb video! 5*s but only because I can't give more.

  • The wind direction may have changed during its time on the ground, I used to work at BHX, the runways were always changing.

  • No the wind hadn't changed. Planes that took off immediately before and after the A380 took off over our heads. Apparently, it took off in the opposite direction so that it landed and took off alongside the new International Terminal.

  • Ohh, fair enough.

  • Has anyone else noticed the fire engines at the end of the taxiway during landing and take off - I wonder what it was there for?

Great video - love the reflection on the underside of the plane as she hurtles down the runway.

  • Great video - thanks! Will the A380 be making regular visits to Birmingham?

  • I don't think it will be making regular visits for a while yet. I think Glasgow and Manchester Airports will get regular service first.

  • Excellent video well done!

  • Very Impressive Video!

The A380 gets airborne alot easier than i expected!

  • Awesome video !!! Wing Span of A380 is greater than width of runway. Huge A380 taking off and landing is an awesome sight to be captured. 5*

  • AWESOME! 5/5. Thanks for making the effort to go down to Birmingham to record this. It's a shame it didn't land on RWY15 like the 77W you recorded a week or so ago.

  • SPLENDID Video ! Very beautiful realization of this famous A380-800. And also to say still super takeoff and landing.

  • 23 second take off roll! Awesome!

  • amazing

  • The best one i've seen so far!!!! Well Done!

  • I can only say WOW! What an amazing aircraft!

  • wow amazing!

  • wow

    impressivee
