  • I actually think public schools can hurt how a kid socializes... I mean, if i based what i think about people on who i met through public school, I would think everyone is an ignorant sheep. But thanks to a Job and Skatepark, Snowboarding ect. I actually meet cool people.

  • I'm so happy that I'm homeschooled, I want to homeschool my kids too!

  • @romans1164e u do realize that the amount of words you misspell on the internet doesnt dictate your level of intelligence. people do tend to misspell words all the time on the internet, being that many of them happen to not give a fuck of how 'smart' other people think they are based off of several incorrect spellings. now hmschooling personally left me socially inept for several years. Hence my critisism. So plz dont waste time judging my spelling. i rili dont give a fuck.....

  • "You're not a plumber but I can see the crack in your butt!" - Priceless!

  • Some of these teachers in these public schools do a terrible job.

  • @Lachance8 my apologies then. my assumption that you were bashing public school vs. homeschool seems to be incorrect. so would you say that even if someone is in public school they could possibly socialize with older people just as good as homeschooled children?

  • @romans1164e Really when it comes to public education or home education, how well a kid socializes with others depends on how the parents taught them to do so. Math, reading, science and so forth are given to kids by schools; life skills are given by Mom and Dad. I was homeschooled so my parents did both. But the bottom line is not "Which form of education is superior?", it is "how well did the parents raise them?"

  • word! "Yeah, that's why we homeschool" LOL!

  • My daughter is in Kindergarten.. She was having problems in Kindergarten. Teacher told me they couldn't get her to write, read, or do basic math.. School was going to put our daughter in LD, and special ed classes. We decided to homeschool seven months ago. Our daughter is now meeting 3rd grade benchmarks.. What the hell do these teachers do all day in public school when it takes us 45 minutes per day to advance our daughter 3 grade levels? And they are suppose to be professionals? What a scam.

  • @Dems4Lunch you assume too much. there are 3 different ways a person can learn. through sight, through experience, and through sound. many public schools only utilize sound (lectures) and some kids cannot learn this way. i myself do better with sight and experience learning, which kinda sucked since i was in public school and ignored the lectures by doing other non-educational things :/ you probably utilized more experience and sound in your homeschooling, which probably worked better for her.

  • @romans1164e Lordy, romans. I am not against school. I was making a statement that is very true. Before I home schooled my girls years ago, (they are not in their 30's) I checked out the studies of social statis of home schoolers and found out that they can relate more to all age people. Their reason being that being with only same age kids for 12 years does not socialize them. When my girls were around 7 and 8 they would sit and have conversations with adults that would stun the adults.

  • Tags such as teacher don't determine whether or not you are eligible. Just as was done in days of the first millennium, knowledge can be passed down regardless of who is passing it.

  • No, but Tags such as "teacher" determine that you are probably something like 80-90% more likely to be eligible than someone that merely has the tag of "Mom"

Parents always pass their knowledge down to their children (if their present) the issue is the TYPE of knowledge.

Who is more likely to give me a better education in Physics, my mom who has crammed for a few months just so she can teach me, or a guy with a Masters in Physics from Stanford. Then she has to teach me English literature!

  • i insanely agree. does this guy seriously think homeschooling is better than public school? you see, we hav these things called 'friends' in public school. and we actually do this thing called 'hanging out over weekends' i used to homeschool and i def agree it was the worst idea ever, not unless u want the homeschool child to grow up depressed and under a rock

  • @runawaydarling What? I'm homeschooled. I went to a private school from K-2 to 3rd grade. Then we moved. So I had to go to public school. That place was so screwd up I actually had too much stress and had to go to the doctor. He said it was from school. Every weekend. I go out with friends. All of them, are publicly schooled. I have many friends, I get in fights, hell, I even have a girlfriend thats in public school! *GASP!* But I broke up with her pshyco ass.

  • @runawaydarling Oh and I see public school has done a fabulous job for your spelling. Just so you know, I have friends, probably better, CLOSER friends then any public schooler will ever have. And we don't just have friends that are our age, we have younger, and we have older friends. Not only that, we've learned how to socialize with adults, something public schoolers never to do because the only adults in their lives are people who have authority over said kids and makes them feel resentment..

  • Oh my gosh I'm soo sorry! me and my sisters share google accounts so one of them must have typed this in. Well, I homeschooled too, but not as long as she did. And yes I know what you mean! When your homeschooled you can have younger and older friends, but it's also the same way for public school, really. Public school isn't bad, and actually I liked it better work wise because I wasn't overwhelmed with so much work as homeschooling.

  • @runawaydarling ..towards them. I will grow older to be a better, more successful person then you will ever dream to be.

  • And I'm sorry that my sister said that, but please just don't fight back. I know that was like, really offending, but this is just as bad. Look, there are people who go to public school who try and get a's, have good close friends, and grow up to be succesful. I'm actually a strait a student and i have close friends. I'm good with adults, and the best employee in my job because im friendly. I'm not bragging, I'm just trying to point out your looking at this the wrong way

  • @LaikVictoria49 And I'm sorry that my sister said that, but please just don't fight back. I know that was like, really offending, but this is just as bad. • @runawaydarling really don't wanna be a jerk, but it's spelled straight. you spelled it like the country singer's last name. figured since you said you were a straight A student, you wouldn't mind constructive criticism.

  • home schooling fucking sucks who ever thought of home schooling was a fucking queer back motherfucker

  • @DERRECKJORDANGARCIA

This is hilarious! I see public schooling has given you a huge vocabulary. LOL!

  • Sir by accusing me of slander you are slandering me. I stand by my report. People with an alcohol problem shouldn't be ashamed, they need help and prayer. I know a good Christian therapist that can help you. I have no problem with having a good laugh, but making jokes about women parts and whatnot is not funny nor godly

  • Love this! Way too cute! Homeschool rocks!

  • Wow, really?? Unbelievable. ;-;

  • Seriously? I can't imagine Thor saying something like that.

  • @glennandrobert Wow... If you happen to be a Christian, this is not the way to handle things. If you thought I was drunk during a show (which I was not), then you should have confronted me after the show in Christian love and challenged me. And regarding your other comment... I'm not sure what live performance you saw, but it wasn't one of mine. Read Matthew chapters 5-7 and maybe next time you'll handle things in a biblical manner rather than posting slanderous comments on the web.

  • Haha I am homeschooled :) My parents chose to for these exact reasons.

  • wow "your not a plumber but i can see the crack of your butt" thats so funny omg omg....just halarious! Great part!

  • saw you tonight at VUSC and you rocked :)

  • Actually home schooled kids are more socialized than others. Since when is being in school with kids you own age for twelve years socializing them. Its being with people of all ages.

  • @Lachance8 since when is being homeschooled a more efficient way of socializing people? is this a general statement or is this 100% fact? i'm pretty sure if i was homeschooled i'd be INSANE! glad i went to public school and had friends other than in my own home and neighborhood. this isn't fact for all kids. to generalize your statement is to say you're omniscient. not all kids are the same, and therefore shouldn't be given the same generalized treatment.

  • @romans1164e

If not all kids are the same and therefore shouldn't be given the same generalized treatment... why would anyone advocate for public schools who give everyone the same generalized threatment?

  • @14Mthat14M To play devil's advocate, not all parents have the time or resources to privately school and/or homeschool thier children. Also many "homeschooled" children are less eductated than indoctrinated, there are objective standards in factual fields such as physics, chemisty or biology that many parents are ignorant of, either by accident or by deliberate choice. A child taught the wworld was made as is by God 6000 years ago will NOT be okay in a post-sec science course.

  • @wendighoul Well it depends on the family. I'm doing just fine in college, and I was only taught creation. It's not indoctrination if the parent is teaching the child their beliefs and values. Not to mention we have amazing science curriculums; it was my favorite subject in school. :). And I understand that not everybody can homeschool. There is no right or wrong way to educate a kid. I have a cousin who came out of the public schools and she's great! I hope that answers some of your questions.

  • @wendighoul I disagree with your statement, "A child taught the wworld [sic] was made as is by God 6000 years ago will NOT be okay in a post-sec science course."

I teach my children popular scientific theory as taught in public schools as well as the flaws with each theory. I also teach them creationism. This means they're MORE prepared for the world because they have more information to decide for themselves which is best. You can't match that in the public school system.

  • @Lachance8 You make absolutely no sense.

  • @Pimpjit85 Suit yourself. It makes perfect sense. I know from experience. People would tell me that my girls could sit down and have such mature conversations with them. But I never said everyone should be home schooled. A lot of parents don't have the patience for it and that is OK too. Some kids actually are better off in school , while others do better at home. We should be able to make those choices!

  • @Lachance8 Actually, you said home schooled kids are MORE socialized and then provided a nonsense theory behind it. That makes no sense. I think you meant to say that homeschooled kids have good socialization skills, and possibly better, because they are much less exposed to peer pressure and other negative influences that may hinder their self-esteem. But, home schooled children are not more socialized. As a matter of fact, in some cases they are isolated from the outside world.

  • @Pimpjit85 . There are kids in school who feel isolated. I saw that when I was growing up in school. Each child is different. I have grands that I know do better in school than they would at home and vice versa. So I am not hard core that all should be home schooled. You have so miss understood me. Not here to make enemies just because I expressed my opinion. I don't look down on people who differ from me and taught my kids not too. The home schoolers I have met are well socialized!

  • wow... i'm homeschooled... it's not that bad... do some sports or something...

  • Hey, no need to swear. My little brother is home schooled and he loves it. I just saw this guy at a christian youth event and he was so funny! Couldn't stop laughing.

  • Were you homeschooled?

  • I was for four years, now I'm my second year of high school and on the verge of going completly mad.

  • You're not a plumber but I can see the crack in YOUR butt HAHAHA!!!

  • My sisters and I were homeschooled 1st through 12th

  • lol Im homeschooled,

    and thats soooooooo true.

    -Cate

  • I plan on homeschooling my kids if I get married years from now.

  • I used to be homeschooled, but know that I'm going to school, I don't think I can go back... :) go homeschoolers!!!!!

  • xD I'm homsechooled.

  • I'm homeschooled!!! IT'S AMAZING!! I LOVE IT...... and socilization...oh my goodness EVERYbody gets that! And I know, of all people, especially if you're involved in a homeschool group, homeschoolers are WAYYY more social than public schoolers most of the time. :)

    I thank God I'm homeschooled!

  • I'm a homeschooler :] I like being able to get our work done in less time than a normal public school day. But sometimes I wish I had more friends. But I'm not saying that I am unsocialized...Absolutely NOWHERE NEAR being unsocialized.

  • i am homeschooled too...and i think this is funny also. my mom has gone through this stuff with people. love the vid!

  • lol im homeschooled and im glad that thor made that great decision for his daughter.when you move from the public school to home school, it really helps you emotionalily

  • Correct

  • oh man he is one of the funniest comedians I know. props to Thor:)

  • Well, that was a very entertaining, very well-spent 48 seconds of my life *drops out of chair laughing*

  • i'm homeschooled and we get a lot of stuff like that. it is very funny what people say

  • My son was in public school until 9th grade then we went to a private Chrisitan school, now homeschools. In public school we were told our son would never write, maybe he'd be able to type. Aids worked by his side all day and wrote for him. After getting away from the public schools, he writes fine, types faster than I do, and gets all 100s in english!! His homeschooling is an online school, so he has teachers and assignments(for those who will say WE give him the 100s)

  • God bless you

  • Thanks you.... May God bless you also :)

  • @psalmsgal congrats, and i'm glad your child is doing well. did you write this to bash the public school system? i only assume this, but if you did, i'm here to say that's not fair. public school was good for me, and homeschooling would've sucked for me very much so. each child has different needs, just like me and your son have different needs. don't assume that just because some kids do better with something, it doesn't mean all kids will be that way. once again, only assuming.

  • Love it!

  • Whats up with the "Oh you Christians" thing?

  • I was homeschooled until high school! It was great...I don't hate reading, like most of my classmates. In college it's even better, since you're used to doing things on your own. That academic independance has never left me.

  • I'm another one. It's my dream to one day smuggle Bibles into restricted nations.

It's funny how people try to come up with insulting names for us (like Christian and Jesus Freak), but we end up liking the names so much, we apply them to our everyday lives. I think that's part of the reason Christians make the best comedians (IMHO).

  • Woot woot homeschoolers! Me too!

  • woot! im homeschooled!! :]

  • I'm a home schooler as well!

    8D

I'm nowhere near being unsocialized, though.

My friends all thought I was from a public school until I told 'em what I was really made of, lol.

  • I cant tell that u r socially retarded just by your comment... I can help u...

  • lol, yeah.

    You can help me?

    How?

    :P

  • i was homeschooled for 1 year and that was enought other than that i've been in private my whole life

  • I went to a private school until I was ten, was homeschooled until I was fourteen, and I opted to attend a public high school. I think the schooling environment that's best for kids depends largely on the individual child, and on the society in which they're growing up. For instance, I think Chinese Christian kids should only be homeschooled, for their own safety.

I'm a big supporter of homeschooling, even if I did choose as a mature teenager to attend a public school.

  • Yeah I like that attitude. I've been public schooled my whole life, and though I've been given the chance to home school, I've chosen public school. Now, if I have kids, I'll probably home school them until high school, then give them a choice. That's what my aunts do.

  • homeschooling is great but public school is something that you should really be careful about with your kids...for example if you were on a chair would it be easier to pull another person up on teh chair with you (spiritual growth) or will it be easier for the person to pull you down off the chair (satan working) which do you think you will happen to your child....

  • That's why I thank God for the solid foundation my parents provided me through private and homeschooling. I was much more mature than the majority of my public school classmates. I think that's a large part of the reason I didn't date in high school; I saw no point to it. I never got into the drama of high school. It was childish to me.

  • I was a homeschooler, but i like private school better.

  • That's o.k. too. Homeschooling isn't about forcing everyone else to our views. It's about the freedom to do what is right and raise our children to be outside the influence.

Private school is a fine option, and even some public schools are more than adequate. I went to public school my entire life, but I didn't learn a whole lot!

  • Yeah, me sis went into a public highschool's AP class in 8th grade to check it out after going to a private middle school and she could answer all the questions on their semester final.

  • xD I'm homsechooled.

  • Funny stuff.

My homeschooled kids are 1-3 grade levels ahead in ALL of their subjects (there are 4 of them). My 3 year old reads and writes at a kindergarten level...my 5 year old does 2nd grade math. The dog can never eat their homework...without me knowing about it, of course.

  • Funny stuff I started school when I just turned three and right now im in grade 12 and im only 14 years old ( i skipped 3 grades )

  • Dude! I'm a homeschooler!!!! I so know what that's like!!
