thanks okimike, generally i nose clip the X's... i'm short enough that normally the tow cord isn't long enough to run through the nose d-ring, and although the slip knot works well, I like to leave it for the most part. on this dive i needed Mike as unencumbered as possible to shoot, so at the last minute, i just kinda tossed it (the scooter he'd been riding) behind me. Its tow cord was way long too, i agree :)
You may find it easier to tow the X behind you when you pass the leash through the nose D-ring rather than just the temporary handle on the body. It'll be a lot more streamlined.
