Never forget Richie Rich cuttin' up Derek and Clive....F.F.F.F.F..FUCKING C.C..C.C.UN....(you get the picture!!) Smooched with Joyce simms there too when she made one her first Uk PA'S!! All in All ...Dope afternoonage!!
As a 15/16 year old from the sticks on a trip to London with some mates, I stumbled across Spats and couldnt believe it! Having heard about it of course I had to go in, where Live to break made fun of us for not having heard of them! Glad I made it that once though!
Blimey...this takes me back. @moshhon I was at school with Robert Edwards. Used to go to Spatz with Ricardo, Robert and some of them Big Met writers. Good times!
@AndrewEliasActor ok ...Rob was a character born with the blueprint of hip Hop in his genes!! used to pretend he was aMerican!! Sadly I heard he developed a bit of a habit for crackola and has since passed!! Have you any validation of this!!! If i remember rightly he was from the Chalkhill estate in wembley!! used to ride train with him ..Doo-Rag ,Rio ,Minty and them back in the day! was a spatz regular myself!!
Regular Spatz enthusiast...was there mos saturdays!!!...small white kid on his tiptoes trying to see all the action going down in the cypher!!!
Met a very young Joyce Simms there doing "ALL and ALL"
Also remember Richie Rich cutting up the "FUCK SHIT CUNT STUFF!!" (Derek and Clive!)...Lively stuff!!!...even went to Spatz in a pair of spatz once!!!(jazz dancing days!)
yer man i was here man .the begining.we all look like kids.oh yer we where.sooooo long ago...there is a spats reunion goin on with dj pogo.an other.check on facebook.
Wow. I remember Spats. First went there in about 1982, and every time I went there I saw this older gay guy dancing on his own, waving a leather jacket about. Very strange - sort of like flagging, but without all the movement.
glad to say i was ever present hanging at spats with bionic, cash crew, live to break and the covent garden crew. cant believe this existed!!!!!!!!! so young and just about having fun, before popping and breaking came along we had nothing. also went to electric ballroom where i became one of the boogie crew downstairs. RIP Sipho
Class post. Me (Cosmic Cee 153!) used to travel from Staines to hit Spats, Richie Rich behind the decks, then yep, same circuit, Groove Records & Covent Garden, fat marker in back pocket. Still got my trainers signed by ZAKI DEE & THE TRAILBLAZERS! (Me & my mate stole their massive Graf Wall from the '85 GLC Hip Hop Jam after the 'Get Westwood' riot! The two of us got it home on the train somehow..and put it up in Egham youth club. Happy days...
I was a regular there most saturdays and a bunch of us used to go down to charing cross after. I remember scotty of live2break, was funny when we had a bombscare, he jumps on the floor and goes "if i die i wanna die breakin". There was everol the churpser & willesden green crew.
Others there were Pete/pervez of live2break, lee, peter edwards, farnborough crew. Also went uk fresh86, got home like 3am, got into loads of trouble. Anyone got footage of RunDMC at electric ballroom? That was one of the dopest jams of the day.
tnt rockers from tooting south london battling live to break, digital flash, hoffmeister & feathers, breaker ray , lee wilson, lil whizz, simon champers, cutmaster swift doing his ticks, bionic when he was breaking.. darnell allen doing his priesting.. wicked popper

AMAZING!!
Have you got any more????
I used to go to Spats every saturday .
And before that the electric ballroom.
I was there on the last day Saturday 19th July 1986 (the day of UK FRESH 86).
The last record played at Spats was Time Zone - wild style . I used to have a pile of pics but lost them in a police graffiti raid LOL.
I got on the tube to Webley and Fresh 86 at 3pm with Live to break.
GREAT DAYS!!
