  • Hi Alibaba, Thanks .. wow, was I happy to discover your tutorials -

hair... really a nightmare ... and now I know how to handle thanks to you. You have a clear

and easygoing way of explaining, though the tutorial is in spoken US(?)English, I understood

    all you've told.

Thanks a whole lot, Ilona (dutch national)

  • I luv the end bit .. type in what ever n u will get what everhahah

    ahhaha

  • too much work! on white bg you can do this in 5 second with blending options, duplicate layer, flatten image and layer mask.

  • @TimoftiCatalin ssssssHHHHH! Whats wrong with you? Let them keep doing it the hard way. I get paid to do this and I dont want people to know how easy it is.

  • Thanks! For me: good!!

  • better then the confusing refine edge, i recommend this tutorial...

  • u great man with smart presentation.....nice sound truck with understandable tone! nice step forwarded tutor

  • KInda "layman's" version of deleting background ....

  • the tutorial is very good :) except for the part of the burning tool .. but i think everyone got the main idea, thanks :)

  • please, how to do that with adobe photoshop elements 9???????? amazing...please come on...respond me...tx and sucess

  • seems pretty stupid having midtones selected on the burn tool when your wanting to remove the bright white, you want the highlight not mid...

  • I could imagine you would be really happy doing this with PS CS5

  • PERFECT IF ALL WE DO CAREFULLY, YOU WILL DO BETTER

@BalletBabyBoy I GOT CS5 AND WORKS FOR ME

    THANKS FOR THE TUTO @1stoptutorials

  • Awesome video- but how would i put a backround on the image say of something other than a solid color... i want to change the backround setting on an image... i see u just used solid colors.. what about another picture. how would u add a different picture as a backround?

  • Can you show how to do this in CS5

  • Didnt work

  • Didn't work

  • The edge of her hair turned black. not good :/. But i get the idea xD.

    Good tutorial (thubs up) ;D

  • Thank you so much. The burn idea works beautifully. It looks amazing.

  • Nice video... Thanks.

  • cool thanks.

  • tanx..thats a good method ... and burn tool is good idea and will get nice effect if u take some time and do it... :)

  • Horrible method... There is no more hair, juste kind a black movement...

  • cs5: REFINE EDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Sieberliebangbang refine edge is not better than this, just makes it more effort cus it doesn't work the way you want it

  • @Sicalin Yes it does

  • image link dosen't work

  • that burn.... on a black background you wont eaven se the hair...

  • That was great. Thanks so much for the tutorial.

  • you'r making a funny by the way good tutorial

  • thank you for this wonder full tutorial

  • Would you show how to do this with Photoshop Elements 7?

  • What's the link to that website ?

  • when i use the background eraser it cuts the hair too. Any idea why !?!?

  • I CANT OPEN THE PHOTO THE LINK IS ERO

  • at 0:18 your nokia phone shut down :-p

  • how can i download this clip? any one have any idea?

  • Well, the Background isn't removed - it's replaced.

  • It works for that type of hair you are right. But do you have any idea how it's going to look with lighter hair? Let's take blonde for exaple.

  • it's greet

  • Now do it with blond hair.

  • how can i just remove the entire background so i'm just left with the picture by itself

  • @vodooochild33 That's what he did. There's just a solid color layer behind the image of the woman.

  • @ 0:19 low batt...

  • @bugoy759 i heard that too.haha

  • Thanks man, it was helpful. I do have one thing to point out though. You forgot to mention that you have to click on the "hair" layer to work on it. Though you did it on the video, you forgot to mention it, and so I had to figure it out myself. Nevertheless, it's another helpful technique. Thanks!

  • I keep trying to do this. I have been following the exact movements you are doing. However, my computer keep smaking me rastersize my photo and then it won't take away around the body just the other background. Any ideas?

  • Great tutorial, so informative!

  • your battery is low

  • use photoshop cs 5 more simple to remove background :)

  • Amazing & Great Work Tutorial. Many Many Thanks Dear

  • Thanks for a good tutorial. It helped me a lot!! Thanks once again @1stoptutorials . If I want it a transparent background. How should I do that?

  • Hi Alibaba, thought the tutorial was great, was looking forward to practising with the image but the link doesn't work for me:

The requested URL /images/cruz1001024x768.jpg was not found on this server.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Jane

  • hello, if the bottom hose houses or the beach or another fund that was not the same color. (I would have chosen this picture with the channel layer and is faster when the background even as the same color) thanks

  • THANKYOU!

  • Every time I try this I get "background eraser could not be used, because the target channels do not cover the composite"

  • What do you do if your on a laptop if you can't left click the mouse?

  • great tutorial, thanks for sharing!

  • man your nokia needs some recharging

  • @antonis198 you are funy !

  • nice technique

  • Uh.. I tried this and it doesn't work anything like what I'm seeing. It just puts a transparent blue shade over top of my image, it doesnt go around hair or anything.

  • So we can make "ha lewk GOW-GESS!" That was cute.

  • You missed a spot.

  • Thank you for this clear and precise tutorial.

  • And every tutorial with loud music is from assholes

  • Man, ur tutorial is good. Those stupid comments, someone is F. up. Looks like never they used Photoshop LoL. If they know how to use it then what the hell they doing here watching? LoL

  • @hellgurl234 and @MrShoveitupyourass

06:35 "I don't wanna go too mad with it"

He says this after ruining all the flying hair LOL this is ridicolous LOOOL

  • You should have used a layer mask instead of delete the back ground... and turned the layer into a smart object so that you never lose rez.

  • this didn't help cuz my photp is does not have a white backround...but Thx anyway :)

  • When he say "OK" it sounds like Tony Montana...lol

  • Oh god. Stfu people. Learn from the technique. If you dont like how he did it, go do it yourself.

  • you changed the colour of her hair from brown to black!! dick!!

  • You completely destroyed the outside of the hair... The burn tool was a horrible idea of yours.

  • @hellgurl234 the first time it was fine the second time when he came around he completly destroyed them

  • Fuck you no thank you

  • So embarrassing when he said "Stick some Paul McCartney on..or..or a bit of Bob

    Marley"

    This was my face -.-

  • The hair looks horrible on the left side.

  • 'This isn't for making her look GORGEOUS'

LOOL the way you said Gorgeous Haha , can you do a Tutorial for a Video WITHOUT a white background ?

  • can you do a tutorial on how to delete with a background that's not plain white?

  • Very unnatural not having light reflection on the edges of the hair now... And why should you rush the tutorial? It's about quality in the end, not the time spend, is it? Sorry, there a way better tuts about this! Search for the ones working with channels!

  • Please respond: I did everything You said I think but when i try to get rid of the white background at 3:00 it colors over the hair

  • You rock, its nice to have a great tutorial without the annoying over-volumned music only or the script kiddies. Many thanks to you. subscribed.

  • Many Thankssssssssssss :D

    Thats Was Amazing Tutorial !

  • Cant say its that sunny .Well not over here in Borneo. HA HA .

  • hey i would love to learn how you to dat, everytime i try i still remove the hair

  • WTF? THIS 4 Beginner?

  • great vid

  • You certainly made it look very easy to crop images out, and I am going to practice. thanks for having a new student from the US. I have subscribed to all your tutorials as well.

  • You certainly made it look very easy to crop images out, and I am going to practice. thanks for having a new student from the US.

  • You can still see the burn on the edge of the hair. Not a good video

  • YOu stupid bastard ...why do you not explain how to fix the edges that get overrun by that system.

    rotten fucker

  • @MrShoveitupyourass whoa! dude! this tutorial is free. no need to be rude.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the help mate!

  • your battery is dead....

  • hey i have a black background so its not working and its just removing the base colour so how to go behind the hair.

  • mmm magic eraser.... mmm its faster.. just saying.

  • VERY INFORMATIVE. SUPER L-I-K-E

  • where is shine on hair ?

  • 0:19-0:21 His nokia battery went off.

  • I tried but kept getting a msg "Could not use the background eraser because the target channels do not cover the composite"... what should I do? :(

  • with a white bg, just put the layer option as multiply and wola it's a 3second job

  • lol i thought that was my phone

  • Why you everytime use so easy pictures with only one color on the background!

Try example : To cut a Football player from the fans behind him!

However thanks..! Message me if anyone of you knows to do that I want!

  • After I make the new layer and erase around the hair It doesn't work like this because I don't have a white background -_-

  • I have tried this several times , it is not working.

  • Ouch, what a crude outcome. Sorry man, fail.

  • battery dead

  • She's got white stuff in her hair ;) LOL

  • There are too much easier and better tutorials on youtube on this topic.

Plaease don't waist your time here, which I had.

  • Completely brutal. Anyone who finds this instructive is a fool.

  • I Rather do my own Picture.!

  • Good job

  • but now her hair goes from nice brown to completely black on the edges... >_>

  • can i make png's this way?? :)

  • if you have CS5 you can just use the refine edge tool

  • thanks, was helpful but need to figure out how to fine tune it a bit as the pic looks less shiny now..

  • thank you for this!

  • Thanks man. So useful :)

  • tnx man

  • very destructive use with the burn tool

  • all his tutorials are really comprehensible and that's why I thank him :)

  • thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for real man

  • how do i choose soft edge brush? i cant see it while using the background ereaser tool

  • Totally UNIMPRESSED. You have DESTROYED the natural lighting that bounces off the hair.

To understand what I mean, think of it as TWO separate photos taken against a black background and another against a white background. Both images should show the SAME lighting bouncing off the hair. They should look IDENTICAL. This is NOT the case here though.

This is the 2nd video I have seen using this technique.

  • @paultomasi I agree, the original lighting is gone, very destructive way to do this

  • hehehe i like the voice sounds funny hehehe but the tutorial is also good

  • It was working fine and I was following ur video but in the end God knows where I pressed and in my photo screen no tool are working ... one small hand is shown and can not do any thing ... please help me to remove that hand ...

  • Do you need to have a special plug-in installed for this to work? I'm using CS4 and I've followed your instructions explicitly (using a different picture, with a gray background instead of white), but it's not working ... When I try to erase the background from around my model's face, all it does is color right over her ...

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

Have been looking around and tried out for hours several ways to extract hair.

Yours was the best and the fastest for my case (gray solid background)

  • Thanks, just perfect your explanation, but why all tut about removing hair are made in a solid colour? Can you make a tut with another background? Buildings, forrest, or something with a lots of colour that make the work not easy at all? Thanks from Portugal.

  • can i do that on photoshop 7

  • Thanks great tutorial

  • Good Tut . . .but now the hair strands look thick and are very dark. Any around that ?

  • its easier because this photo has a white background

  • @missterry2009

Yeah, that means someone else already did the same thing to the photo before he got to it!

  • @missterry2009

How can you do it if the it's not a white background???

  • @saypompung refine edge tool

  • @missterry2009 this is what he said a few times during the video...

  • @missterry2009 and the pic is pretty high resolution

  • Thank you. It seems easy with solid background. My challenge is trying to extract hair from a background like the a forest, city, or anything in that nature with a lot of details.

  • @vnohagibis my challenge, too~~ Well~ but i can never do that T.T

  • i liiiiiiiiike it

  • hmm my teeth got blue XD

  • Comment removed

  • ma use the magic wand tool and select --> delete the white zone !

  • DAMN! Wrong tutorial,... i wanted "how to remove lots of hair around my back" xD... Nah, I keed.. EXCELLENT TUTORIAL!!

  • This is by far the best video I've seen for hair and it works like a gem. In CS5 you have the ability to run around the hair line in stages (not all in 1 step). I've been photoshop for 23 years and I was very impressed by this technique - I'll be checking for other tips from 1 Stop Tuturials.

  • Thank you for not making this into a music video-I hate that! lol

  • Just want to say thank you. You made photoshop so far, easy to learn..

I am a beginner. I will be looking at more of your video.

  • Just want to say thank you. You made photoshop so far easy to learn..

    I am a beginner.

  • you speek austrralian english.... i heard something in back ground sound at the start what was that?...what language is spoke in thailand?

  • Why on earth would you do it this way when you had a good contrast image in the first place. Surely the obvious way would be to use channels (probably the blue one).

Paint in black & white in overlay mode, then make a selection. This method would ensure every wisp of hair without any white artifacts as you had.

I,m sorry but you totally distroyed a good picture

  • Awesome Videos.... Thanks For Sharing

  • brown on white background is still easy .. try doing it when you have a brown haired girl on a brown background ...

  • when i try to use the bg erase tool the second time, it gives me an error 'can't use eraser as the target channels do not cover composite'

    what should i do?

    please revert back asap.

    thank you

  • @punkrookie it's because you are in the color background layer, you need to be in the layer with the image you are working on :)

  • OMG Thank you so much for this video! !!!!

  • Nice one...at last sorted ...thanks ;)
