You can see how huge Pavarotti was when Aretha Franklin, a class of her own, talks about him with not just respect but great humility. It just shows the greatness of both of them.
won't be repeated in time . It makes me cry when I look at his great performs of different arias and songs . I'm happy that there are enough records left of this man for us to always remember how great . I think he was A very gifted person . I love him both for his personality and his voice
Luciano always was a happy person, he was concerned about his weight, yes, but he used to enjoy life without anyother worry. He used to say that he wasn't the king of high C's. He was humble, happy and was a very great person... Think in this, not in weigh
Please excuse me for intruding on this dialogue, but Franklin and Pavarotti were friends and shared a mutual admiration and respect. Did you see Aretha perform "Tosca" when Luciano was too ill to attend the Grammys? It reduced the crowd to tears and then brought them to their feet in ovation. Disregard their waist sizes; they are giants because of their talent. They are both legends in their respective fields. Show some respect and don't post such vulgarity, please!
Well said! U don't know how good it makes me feel to have read this comment. Without, Aretha to sing one of Pav's music it wouldn't have been given much meaning...
@Bostonclubkid It was actually Turandot, not Tosca...but yes...she hit it out of the park. A moving tribute as the Queen of Soul bows to the late King of the high Cs.
he was absolutely not proud of being as big as he was. read any of his biographies. that comment was disrespectful. and although it was put in front of her to read, it shouldn't have been. she shouldn't have read it.
wtf. "tuxedo busting girth!" what the fuck kinda way is that to remember someone who had just died. nevermind the stupidity and utter unprofessionalism, but it's just rude!
Well done video. He had a wonderful depth and vibrancy to his voice that so often gets lost with tenors, as seen also with sopranos. A wonderfully long life of love from opera fans and music fans across genres. He will be missed.
I loved listening to that interview of Luciano's friend, Aretha. She did a legendary short notice vocal performance for him several years ago at the Grammys...wonderful.
Creo que es el mas grande de los tenores, un gigante de la opera, es una muy sentida y terrible perdida. Con mucho aprecio "LUCINAO PAVAROTTI" en nuestros recuerdos y corazones
Thank you for posting! Beautiful! I'm so glad that Aretha was asked about him.....I think they would have been a great pair for a duet. May scores of Angels speed thee to thy rest Luciano.......

Firstly, thank you for introducing me to Joseph Schmidt. I've just listened to a good rendition of Una Furtiva Lagrima by him.
To say he is better than Pavarotti is just...well...wrong.
