  • warehousing for spoilt rich kids

  • i wanted to attend to berklee after i graduated from high school but at last i couldn't because i wasn't able to fulfill all of the financial side of tuition and stuff like that because i don't have an american cosigner to apply for financial aid nor could i get a scholarship to finance berklee, it semeed to me that the only limitant was money cause my playing isn't bad after all but students attending to berklee say it isn't so difficult...could anyone studying at berklee now give me tips ?

  • Thankyou!!!!! At 0:59 I totally now what this guy said....I have had to fight with every single person I know about Berklee

  • In my opinion, "The Problem With Berklee" seems to be that the school is trying to do too much. There are 12 majors, some of which seem rather extraneous to the performing musician. For example, we have a music production and engineering major, which is concerned strictly with the technical side of music recording and can be (and is being) taught by many liberal arts schools and even technical and community colleges. Then there are majors like music business and music therapy, which seem totally

  • @berkleeduder unrelated to "music", per se. Then you've got the summer camps, the bin schools, yada yada. For any one student in any one major, it is very easy to feel over charged and under served. So, it seems to me that Berklee is growing for the sake of growing, to become the wal-mart of music schools (except for the every day low prices bit). Also, the apparently lax admissions standards add to the perception that the money is all that really counts.

  • Roger Brown is a swindler. He steals millions from unsuspecting talentless hacks.

  • And... you were one of them?

  • lol

  • @Whatisthescore and i can bet that probably 75 + % of the "hacks" and even drops outs are making more money than you.......

  • @GibsonGuy93

...but not before they pay back the absurd amount owed to Berklee. Nobody requires a school such as this in order to be a proficient musician. Out of however many thousands get suckered into the Berklee scam, how many come out and find top-paying work in music? A scant few. There is nothing in the art of music which is incapable of being learned and researched on your own. BTW, he claims in the video that 80% of their alumini are making money in music.

  • @GibsonGuy93

First of all, how many people graduate? Second, what are these jobs in music? For all we know, the majority just go on to teach music theory. Getting into a real money-making position as a (literal) music artist is extremely difficult to do. That probably explains why he doesn't allude to what these 'jobs' are. A diploma from Berklee or any other school isn't going to count much for nothing in the real world.

  • At some point, it's obvious to everyone reading all this that there will be the occasional disgruntled, unsuccessful student. It happens everywhere. On balance, reasonable people see through the extreme comments. Congratulations to Mike Byrne, current Berklee student, who just signed on to become the next drummer with Smashing Pumpkins. Awesome!

  • Berklee has an incredible faculty, staff and students from all over the world. It's not a perfect place but the vast majority of students totally love it!

  • Until they realize they were high and are just broke, lazy and out of luck.

  • Keep telling yourself that man. The school's a scam and you will waste your money going there.

  • Berklee has less than 100 practice rooms for 3000+ students. And it costs $30,000 a SEMESTER. Where do you think that money is going? Greedy faculty. This school is a scam but because it's private they can get away with it.

  • what is your deal with berklee? i mean you comment all of these videos like it is some entity that ruined your life

  • don't get religious with me alter boy

  • lol all that money is going to people like me who get full scholarships.

  • Comment removed

  • well its actually 22,000 a semester, with 300 practice rooms that are open from 9am to midnight. 270 acoustic pianos, 60 ensemble rooms for students to jam and practice . $26 million a year is given to students and every student goes through the scholarship process when they apply. They have 400 computer based workstations and 13 fully equipped recording studios. So where do you think the money is going? Things break and teachers need paid, average class size is only 11. Thats a lot of teachers

  • Why would you want to try and legitimize a rip off like that? And, I've already explained Berklee gives scholarships to students who advertise the school as being a real music school when it is filled with kids who are the opposite of the talented scholarships. That 26 million a year seems a bit exaggerated. When I was there there were only about 100 scholarship winners out of 3500.

  • 63% of entering students get a scholarship and that number grows for each year that the are there because students can try out every year to increase their aid. The average scholarship right now is about 8,300 a year for the skill based scholarship. There are many other scholarships out there including a songwriting scholarship that gives up to 5,000 a year more in additional aid.

  • @Whatisthescore: I think you're just a bit jealous cuz you don't have enough talent to get in

  • That, or he works for some other music college and is trying to screw berklee around. This kind of thing happens A LOT where a company will pay people to flame another company and such. This guy is hoping around videos saying things like this and giving example of other music colleges that are better. Just ignore him.

  • @xXSTFDXx I think you are right. It is the same person going from video to video bad mouthing this school. They bad mouth Berklee in one breath and recommend 'a better school' in the next. It seems to me this person has an agenda.

  • thanks for these facts!

  • @DaneWallaceMusic Thank you for this comment because every single person that comments negatively on Berklee usually hasn't even gone to visit it yet!

  • PARENTS, DO NOT GO TO BERKLEE IT IS A SCAM! 3500 students at 30000 dollars a year equals around 100,000,000 dollars a year, all of it going to faculty and virtually none to facilities.
