Second, yes he lived with her when he was 10 and idolized her, but then he did The Wiz with her in '77 - from then until '82 they were inseparable. He was obviously smitten and said so often, even refusing to stand up in her '86 wedding because of his jealousy (it's in Moonwalker). Whether they had a thing or it was unrequited, I don't know, but his love for her was real.
