  • holy crap!!! what a horribly fake headset!! poor horse

  • Stunning animal.

  • 0:31 to 0:35

  • does anyone know what the second song is please ?

  • People these days.... This is amazing and Jaspers ears are up, he is so happy

  • how tall is the rider?

  • i think its very good i have a baby frisian from him its called Dytmar fans geastmerdyk :D i love him

  • dressage means basically the bond between horse and rider and how the work as a team and all, not training, what a dumbfuck lol, looks to me like this horse and rider are purty talented. nuff said, stop trollin nubs =).

  • @TheStephenhuber ummm actually..if you look in the USDF guide to Dressage and basically any other Dressage book....even the french dictionary itself Dressage is the french word for "training" FYI. Not meant to step on anyone's toes and all. But to have the "training" right you have to have a willing and full partnership with your horse...so we all win!!!

  • A lot of you people don't seem to know anything about dressage. FYI dressage is a french term for training, it didn't start out as a discipline. The goal is to have a soft, supple, willing, balanced, fit, correct horse. Its all about horse and rider being in tune. It also encourage a horse to move and carry itself in the most balanced, comfortable, correct way. You can not get to these levels without a willing horse, these levels are meant to demonstrate a highly fit, willing horse.

  • Jasper was Champion Friesian Stallion two years in a row. He has always been treated with care. I have one of his sons, and he carries his head like this naturally -- one of the reasons he was a US Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year in 2010.

  • They aren't just doing dressage... they're flying.. like at 3:02 and 2:23. many more examples.. they seem suspended in the air for the second that they stretch out. beautiful

  • I'm not saying that Peter Spahn isn't an excellent dressage rider but perhaps Jasper isn't the right horse for him.

  • Trust me i know and ride fresians they do not carry their heads like that! That isnt dressage way to collected bad halt and where is the judge also the whole arena isnt fencened it! He dosent need to chock that much on the reins!

  • @bobjobness This is not competition. This is a freestyle demo. Peter Spahn is the rider, one of the top riders in the Netherlands. You may wish to contact him directly to give him some advice concerning his technique.

  • @jeverhart99 I'm not very educated on the ways of dressage. However, you got me thinking that just because one is considered a top athlete doesn't mean they're the 'best.' Example: the USADA performed the most comprehensive survey of Olympic and elite athletes, and 10-20% of them have either used or would consider using drugs to enhance performance. The rider 'knows' what he is doing, but that's just one slice of the cake. Just a thought.

  • @H0useMouse I think you make a good point....

  • @jeverhart99 I think that looks like the way the horse is built. He has a weird neck to begin with probably. If not, then it's the rider's fault. No more fighting :)

  • @bobjobness Have you ever thought that MAYBE just maayyybe not all horses are exactly the same?

  • @bobjobness I agree, one thing I don't care for about dressage, I like to see reining, or bridleless. If that rider can do dressage bridleless, then I'd be impressed. that poor friesien...how does he breath?

  • Yes this is absolutely gorgeous! Sorry, but this is not dressage. I have ridden friesians and its NOT natural for them to carry their heads this tight! It really is inhumane for the horse when he is forced to carry his head in such a tight collection! all for beauty and money. WHEN FORCE BEGINS DRESSAGE ENDS! I hope that people soon learn this. and it stops becoming so much about the head set and more about the connection between human and horse and trying to establish comfort for both of them.

  • Actually, to my (very untrained) eyes, poor Jasper does look like he's in some pain and doesn't like the way his head and neck are positioned

  • @ProffesionalZombie12 that is how friesians carry there heads its becasue of how there necks are postioned

  • I love that horseee!

  • That's the father of my horse :)but i ride my horse without hyperfelxion of the neck !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does he get high marks on his trot? I am very impressed by it- it seems to be his strong point. :)

  • @WatchMeGoDown At the keuring in the netherlands he gets the mark 8 on his trot..i think only one or two frisians gets a higher mark...one of them stallions is his grandchild Uldrike...he gets 9,5!!

  • great horse but I don´t like the way he rides him. its hyperrefelxion of the neck . POOR HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @o0Cavallo0o

    Yes !!!!!!!!

  • The horse is beautiful but i don't like how it moves, not natural.

  • As much as I love this horse, and how the horse moves. Though to my eye lookes like there could be some Rollkur, his head is so tucked in. If you watch at 2:25 you can see how there is a space then you see his head get pulled to his chest.

For those who dont know what Rollkur is, its: hyperflexion of the horse's neck is a practice in equestrianism defined as "flexion of the horse's neck achieved through aggressive force" and is banned by the world governing body, the IFE

  • There is nothing pretty about a horse which moutch touched its body.

I dont understand how anyone can think it's pretty - and i can't believe it's allowed and regonized to ride this way.

  • @jeverhart99 erm..doesnt matter anymore,my video converter doesnt work,thanks anyways

  • would it be alright with you if i used some of these clips for my new vid? you would be credited xx

  • @abiiloveshorseys27 what new vid? email me....

    Thanks for asking, BTW

  • This guy needs roller skates on this horse lol he is so tall for that frisian~! lol

  • @mmotyl21 Ha! yes he is very tall and this horse is very short. But the stallion has tall offspring, so that is good.

  • @mmotyl21 What I would DO to not be a "short legged" rider, especially when doing Dressage. "Tired of having to buy custom boots. ;-/

  • hes dancin to the top

  • DID THEY WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cheesburgerlolcats It was not a competition, just an exhibition.

  • If you want perfection check out Anky van Grusen - WEG 2006 freestyle final. She AND her horse are magnifique! =)

  • @canterrob123 Anky van Rollkur? No thank you.

  • Beautiful Friesian, tho the rider looks a little large for this horse (notice foot position is much lower than girth, not good). Also I think his tecniques are not that great.

  • I like dressage and everything, but some people just don't understand what they are doing to the horse when they collect their heads that much, it can ruin their breathing and cause other health issues.

  • OMG he is Gourgous!!!

  • Tingles all over<3

  • Croup high in the changes! BOING! lol Is it usual for the canter to lack suspension in this breed? I also notice that the hindleg is not under again - I'm sure it's not breeding but riding - not spending long enough developing the losgelassenheit at the beginning.

  • @lauraraffertytrow We breed friesian horses for so long :) but they keep there head naturel that way dear,

We try to ride them with nose to knee length but they get back in this position as soon we let them : )

  • My only complaint is that this routine doesn't seem particularly creative. The rider and horse both look beautiful, though.

  • i love when people are whining about things they dont know shit about... -_- the horse looks happy with his "work" so to speak, and i think the rider looks correct

  • I could never ride dressage nor would I even try and put a horse through the training and make them do such uncomfortable movement.

  • god so beautiful... i want him O_O

  • his trot is massively impressive.

  • im hopefully getting my fresian soon i cant w8.. they are beutiful horses.. some ppl here are commenting on this horses head n neck position??

is it to close to his throat etc ?? is that not natural??

  • im hopefully getting my first horse soon. a friesian filly 1 yr old.. yey i cant wait..

its for me to go hacking with my g/friend and her dapple grey th/bred..

and yes i know i cant ride her till she's 4yrs old..so im told..but want a horse i can make mine.. i cant wait..

  • I love watching this video and I love the muisc and the horse your riding.

  • hahahaha good comeback....aswer the questions

  • this is not dressage. Look at the neck and the head !! never in that position. poor horse !!!

  • orrible performance ! this is not dressage. Look at the neck and the head !! never in that position. poor horse !!!

  • Do all friesians move like this? I'm NOT critisizing, just asking! Never really seen one before! He's seriously such a sweet looking horse!

  • A friesian is my dream horse.

    Good rider!

  • @ozarkmac: I doubt playing with lego's and being paranoid about "dark forces" gives you the experience to express your opinion of this horse or the people around him. Go listen to your "prophet" and leave good people alone.

  • Still wet behind the ears at dressage so it's worth bout half-pence eh? Lovely suspension on such a large horse! Extended trot action is awesome! Not one swish of the tail, he likes this movement :). Parroting my trainer now but I would like to see more rein at free-walk and then collection again (She says this to me ALL the time). Left pirouette is easier for him eh?. LOVELY horse, amazing rider. Maybe one day for me& my horse with time, much work & dedication. Thank you for the dream.

  • @ozarkmac That is interesting. Have you met his owners? Been to his stable? Seen how he is treated? Have you observed for yourself whether or not he seems happy? Do you know his owners personally and know they are snobs? What do you know about horses or dressage or training? What are your opinions about how this horse is doing at his level? What do you think about his training methods? About the rider's technique? Do you know anything at all or do you just fire off to try to get a reaction?

  • @jeverhart99

Sorry, I don't know if it's a snob and i don't care. I only see how he ride the horse. To ride an horse with the head in that position is very elegant, but is the worse way to ride because is the main cause of damages to the spine and to the front legs of the horse. All the vet know this !

  • @marinaxxx44 If it's done incorrectly/harshly, yes. But this horse is correctly on the bit, not having its nose jacked into its chest. I know horses that have been ridden on the bit and are well into their 20's with no problems beyond arthritis and such, which is a given at their age, and after all the years of riding!

  • @marinaxxx44 i agree that his head is to tight, i believe its called rolkur? But it was also made illegal last year by the fei. And this was done in 2007 at least. I dont think it was a poor preformance, but i do think that rolkur is too harsh on the horses, and should be used very rarely and on special cases, and just as a training technique.

  • @ilovemymagic it's correct, but FEI recognises a distinction between Rollkur and the riding of the horse in a deep outline not achieved by force ( that is a non sense because it's not so different from Rollkur !!) The head of the horse have to be out from the perpendicular , not in a deep outline .

The truth is that nowadays riders doesn't know the bases of the anatomy of the horse and FEI too because approves as well an incorrect position of the head.

  • @marinaxxx44 so you basically want to see the horses head nice and rounded on a loser rein? I mean, i see how short his rein is, but those horses do hold their heads higher with their nose into their chest more. I have my nsh mare's head too with a short rein, but its more natural for her, and i think maybe for him aswell. And who knows, he might be really heav headed too, my mare is. But please explain more to me

  • @ilovemymagic I 've a 6years old friesian, I know that for him is difficult to have the head in the right position and to push ( instead of to track) .

This is why I started soon to teach him the correct head position, to save his back and front legs. Any hand action stops the moovement of the below legs so he can not pool. This means that all the equilibrium of the horse is on the front ( the front legs are the main problems for horses ). I use my equilibrium, not hand track.

  • @jeverhart99 Never the less he is very beautiful! I wish I could own a horse like him =<

  • @ozarkmac

You are right. this is not dressage. Look at the neck and the head !! never in that position. poor horse !!!

  • @marinaxxx44 What else would it be? SHowjumping... It's so dressage duh

  • @ozarkmac

Oh stop being a socialistic peasant and go a life somewhere

  • @ozarkmac This horse actually looks quite content to be performing dressage. His tail is not thrashing nor are his ears pinned back both signs of an irritated horse. More importantly though he's not drooling all over the place and his head is actually on the vertical not forced and held back as is the case with horses who are subjected to rollkur.

  • @qtrhorse89 the horse looks content, but you're wrong about the ears, when a horse is truly paying attention and concentrated on his rider (as should be), his ears must be pointing backwards (not flat against the skull, that's when he's veeeery angry :D ), listening to his rider. The tail can or cannot thrash aroud, depends on the horse. Some (like mine) do it because they know they look waaaay better, or just cause they're having fun, or because its simply the way they move :D

  • @qtrhorse89 Yep, he looks content alright......what a joke. Let's see how you would feel with your chin sitting on your chest for more than 5 minutes....with your head "on the vertical".

  • @ozarkmac HOw? retard if anything your a snob

  • Gorgeous boy!

  • omg he standed so perfect at the start

  • can somebody tell me what is the title of the first song- this instrumental?

  • what a splendid horse!

  • ahhh!!!! i get to ride and show this horsies son as soon as my broken back heals. i cant fricken wait!!!!!!! they all say that maximus (his son) moves even better then him! ahhhh cant waiiiit!!!!

  • @DocsPeppyJake cool...but better than jasper? i can´t believe it...you must make a vid and show it on youtube ;) hehe

  • u people talking bout rollkur can try ride a friesian in a low, relaxed shape...

theyre built to carry themselves proudly with a high held head. that horse is not behind the vertical by any chance tho... his massive neck makes it look more flexed tbh.

  • It's not roll kur, the horse is just drawn so much behind the vertichal line that is touches it self with it's mouth.

So ugly dressage, i don't understand why someone can say this is beautifull - the horses airways is completly blocked when collected.

But this is fashion no a days, the more behind the vertical, the better. No horses are now a days ridden as in the old days, relaxed and with their nose a little in front of he vertical line.

  • rollkur ><

  • @Jjjjjjokerface you're right, whats awful is that the fei banned rolkur but is still allowing it behind a different name.

  • i hate to say it but my little appaloosa gelding can do a better pivot than Jasper :/

  • @patd10123 That's not a pivot. It's a pirouette. The horse's hind legs are not supposed to stay in one place the entire time. Please do your research before making uneducated comments like that.

  • @jjjjjokerface

    UNEDUCATED???

I'm sorry but you are severely mistaken.

It doesn't look like the pirouettes i've seen.

To me, it looked like he was trying to do a pivot but didn't keep his hind leg down.

I know what a pirouette is. It doesn't look like one.

  • He is so beautiful! They did a good job and make an awesome team. I love the extended trots!

  • Wow he is beautiful, you trained him very good. They had to have given you 1st place. Keep up the good work!

  • Beautiful Friesian......much more beautiful then my oun, But I love my Monty from the bottom of my heart ;0)

    Karina Denmark

  • some minor mistakes are noticable, but all in all, it is impressive

  • What a beautiful horse! I love friesians. I did my first Dressage Test in April and posted the video. I wasn't that great (my horse isn't built for Dressage), but it was SOOO much fun! I can see why people get into the high level Dressage. I would love to be that good someday.

  • i've always wanted a friesian, its my dream one day to own one.

  • do you think your horse enjoy's this?

  • I love how expressive fresians are. He is beautiful! My next purchase= fresian stallion. This video confirmed it lol. He looks like so much fun to ride!

  • @ninak2012 haha, we have an absolutly brilliant, quite well bred, friesian at my riding school, as a riding school horse, they bought him greenish for quite a bit of money! i know hes wasted working in a riding school and hes absolutly beautiful, but a lot of the time hes plain lazy!! one of the instructors, that is a dressage rider, was up on him once and the horse completly transformed! lol

  • that is such a beautiful horse, great job too!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice flying leads! He is beautiful! Great riding! Friesian's are beautiful, but that one is geourgus!

  • Comment removed

  • @bizzybijtje

i´ve ridden nearly 30 friesians, but never had your problem..

  • I say friesians are so much prettier at dressage then warmbloods!!

  • yes i say it,too..friesians for ever. :D

  • @maddiefinch0122 hahaha nott true!

  • @maddiefinch012

First a Friesian is a normal warmblooded horse, second, no they are definately not prettier than sportshorses in my opinion. They are highly talented dressage horses, that is for sure. Some of their movements though are less elegant but therefore more impressive.

  • @ladolcevita593 ur crazy bahahahaha

  • AWESOME! I have a friesian Mare but it is something special about the stallions and the geldings! They are just so Gorgeous! :') <3

  • Also, ich muss "Dressurpur" Recht geben.

  • I really love friesians.Jasper's gorgeous. Friesians are just so boxy that they can't extend their shoulder as well in the extended trot. Jasper looks really good in his though. He's a big guy, so he seems to really have to try hard to switch those leads. He has to pop up his back end or something. I think friesians are probably hard to get on the bit and go behind the vertical because they have a naturally thick and arched neck. so its hard to tell when they are and aren't on the bit.

  • they're allowing him to compete with wraps?

  • MY newest is a Friesian, I notive the judges dislike his weight and strength/power and dismiss this as unrulyness which it is not, this horse requires far more drive than many premade warmbloods do :)

  • Cudnie:)

  • OMG that is so cute, and it looks so funny with his hair on his legs (the name wasnt coming to me today) tuck in his boots.. LOL

    :D

  • He is just stunning. Im thinking of breeding my 1/2 Friesian to his colt Jorrit

  • Das Pferd ist viel zu enq! Es rollt sich schon ein!! -.-

  • Comment removed

  • he looks like he,s having fun

  • Rollkur - watch the lead changes. His rear legs are getting behind. He would work so much better with more natural flexation.

  • Ever ridden a friesian?

It's quite hard to get them on the bit correctly. I've ridden 2 friesians and both got behind the vertical...

  • @bizzybijtje Thanks for your reply. I have never ridden a Fresian, but I'm thinking about buying one. Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind. BTW the horse in the video moves beautifully, I just thought he looked over-flexed.

  • Yeah, they are very beautifull!

This is one of the best friesian stallions here in Holland.

  • @bizzybijtje i own and ride friesians i love them

  • Excellent performance. He's quite the mover.

  • dnt blame em hes being colected thts rough on ther neck and back

  • the horse doesn't seems to be happy at all ;)

at least.. this is rollkur. :S

  • @JeNachtmerrieRobin This is not rollkur.

  • and hes bucking, so that shows hes unhappy!

  • @whitestarline08 Na he was just bucking cause he felt good xp if he was unhappy his ears would be back and he would buck much more violently. Trust me I know

  • well you obviously dont "know" coz he never bucked, he just did and expressive change of lead

  • @stephntilly Well tell the person whos saying hes bucking cause hes mad. Its not like a sat here and watched every second of the video to see if nd when he bucked Alright? Stop trying to cause a arguement.

  • well you stop making out you know everything coz you obviously dont

  • @stephntilly .......Im not going to waste my time on a dim witted ass hole like you.... Good day to you xp

  • @whitestarline08 when does he bucking? i can´t see a szene where he is bucking..

  • @WuuhuXD its only a little kick, nothing too big

  • @whitestarline08 yes..but he does it when he should makes a flying chance...and i have seen many horses which make that...;)
