  • @Rubano5428 make that 4 medals now Ralph :)

  • isnt the baritone in this video now the lead for max Q?

  • What arrangement is this?

  • I don't know why they broke up but the MaxQ group beats this group to pieces.

  • @65dirt They didn't "break up". They were brought together for this performance only.

  • @65dirt I don't know what your on about? Max Q is really good but here you have the 4 best barbershoppers on each of the parts... Mayeb the reason you think "Max Q is better" may be because they are a quartet who obviously reherse often and these guys just get together for random performances? But yes Max Q is really good but i still prefer De Rosa on Barri...

  • I love watching joe's face during the tag! hahaha

  • I'm sorry I'm a bass singer when I hear the tag and Tony's "ALL"!

  • I would quit bitching about who got voted into this quartet... Three of the the members have three gold medals... That should say something!

  • @applesauc3 All four do XD

  • I dont understand why people are saying that they should replace Jeff with Jim Henry.....I'm pretty sure Jeff is a better bass. =] lol

  • People wonder if Oxley and Connelly's voices would blend in a quartet. My biggest concern would be whether their hair could coexist. This video has me on the fence.

    DeRosa full voicing it=EPIC!

  • gary lewis should be singing baritone and jim henry should be singing bass. Lead and tenor are good where they are. why is tony de rosa singing baritone?

  • @myself462 Tony sang Bari with Keepsake, and Platinum. He is an original Bari...that's why. :)

  • @myself462 Look up the video Blue Skies by Keepsake. Wait until the end, and hear Tony's post. He sang Bari in Keepsake.

  • @myself462 N00b... LOL... Tony's first gold medal was on baritone when he was 18... LOL

  • @myself462 I don't think anyone, but you, has ever asked the question, "Why is Tony DeRosa singing baritone?" I think you need to listen to a little Keepsake and PLATINUM. You'll find your answer. I don't mean to sound rude. I just couldn't believe it.

  • amazing post and tag

  • fabulous

  • These guys are very good but for all of you who think they are the absolute best, take a look around Youtube for more barbershop. There are some astonishly good performances ( usually from the USA! ) which are amazing.

    Happy hunting!

  • I say get rid of Connelly and replace with ... hm... Slamka maybe, and replace Oxley with the one, the only, Jim Henry. /end.

  • why is tony de rosa singing baritone?

  • @ChrisisBass13 Because that was the part he sang with his previous Gold Medal winning quartets. While he is an amazing Lead, he's sublime as Baritone.

  • does anybody know where i can get sheet music for this???

  • omg- i want robert cuccioli to sing for my 50th- if i can's get him, these guys would be my 2nd choice.

  • HOLY CRAP this is so beatiful!!!

  • i like better with the accoustix

  • These guys are so in sync it's amazing - great job!!

  • I look at it this way: Vocal spectrum is a fantasy quartet in itself, with 4 amazing singers, especially Jonny M and Tim w. And the Lead and bass are something special too. I love the Moroni's voice!!!!

MaxQ without question IS a fantasy quartet with Gary Lewis as the true Backbone of this group.

    And of course....... awesome Joe.

  • nice arrangement moment, yet weaker moment, the original is a more powerful moment.

  • Jeff has the richest tone ever :)

  • Epic! So Cool, thanks for posting!

  • i think that, because all four of them are so renowned for being the best of the best, they almost outshine each other, and it kindof throws the blend off.

im not denying that any of them are anything short of amazing, but i dont think they actually work together as a quartet.

  • @sephiroth

I'm sure if they were actually given time to work together over a larger period of time they would blend better and it WOULD work. But IMO there could have been a better fantasy quartet.

  • @sephiroth3782

It could work very well some practice. The only problem really is that Joe needs to back off a hair. Overall it's great stuff though.

  • Listen to that last chord. AMAZING! What a ring!

  • Isnt that the Max Q quartet?

  • The bass and baritone are Max Q members, but Joe Connelly (Lead) never sang with Max Q. He sang lead in Interstate Rivals, Keepsake and PLATINUM and Tim Waurick (Tenor) sings with Vocal Spectrum. So you're missing Greg Clancy and Tony DeRosa to form Max Q. In this formation however, you get the best of today's barbershop!

  • No, you're a bit wrong: actually Tony de Rosa appears in this quartet as he is singing the baritone part. "Max Q" members not in this video are Greg Clancy (ten) and Gary Lewis (barit). Maybe you are confused as Tony de Rosa sings the lead part in "Max Q", however he is considered the best baritone from his performing at "Platinum" and "Keepsake" quartets.

  • @J999ACK 2 of the members are from the maxQ

  • Ahh Thanks!

  • That last chord with those icons...amazing!!

  • No really. Do you guys even listen to that last chord? Oh how I wish my quartet could get that ring!

  • to all the people badmouthing connely his medal count 3 on the international level yours probably zero so before you criticize him why dont you step up and do better =] i know everyone has an opinion but come on relax and enjoy the music or just dont listen to it at all.

  • Hey guys, can we just all agree that this is amazing and appreciate the beauty of music instead of insisting on pointing out whether or not it could have been better? I mean... This is a fantastic recording (albeit a little quiet). We as a society focus far too much on what went wrong in a performance.. We lose sight of the great gift that the world has: music. Nothing will ever be perfect. Just sit back and enjoy :)

  • im not here to bad mouth connelly. no denying what he has done with other quartets. but for this song, he didnt do very well. his vowels are off from everyone else, which makes him stick out, and sound a little flat. Half of his sustained notes are him scooping the note. I know who connelly is, but this was def not his best stuff by far.

  • lead needs to blend better. hes bring the song flat. you think with the talent on this stage they couldve come up with something better sounding than this...

  • shut up fag. you bow to joe connelly

  • completely agree

  • 10 quartet gold medals on that stage, amazing! Wish I could've seen this.

  • I agree...Tony would be much better on the lead!

  • made my spine tingle =]

  • is it possible to get some of the sheets this fabolous choir is singing?

    my goood! it's great

    sheets anyone? :D

  • Sheet music for this arrangement is available from the Barbershop Harmony Society

  • Where abouts on the page? I can't seem to find it!

    G

  • it's product ID number is 113727 and was arranged by Fred King and Jeff Oxley. You can order by calling 800-876-SING.

  • wow....need i say more...... amazing, the last chord always sends shivers down my spine with, dare i say ordinary barbershop tags but this one..... wow.

  • beautiful,,,,bravooooo

  • shhhh!!! or u won't mbe able to hear them.

  • I'm so jealous of the baritone. I know he's like the greatest baritone/lead ever, but his range is unbelievable. I could never in a million years sound that good on the tag at the end. Unbelievable.

  • yea, i think tony derosa would've been better on lead.

  • i don't

  • @springer331

Maybe you should check out Tim Waruk's (sp) 9 octave clip before you go spouting off on range. Not slamming DeRosa at all, he's a monster!

  • He's there because hes the greatest Lead to ever hit BBS!

  • dude...thats joe connelly your talking about...

  • so...whats ur point? hes not flawless.

  • Joe is an amazing lead, and one of the best that have ever been in the society, but Mike Slamka is by far my favorite!

  • i was just talking to mike slamka this weekend at the PIO district comp.

  • The point is that this lead has three International gold medals...

  • dude, do you spend all day bad mouthing quartets and quartetters? this guy has 3 gold medals. how many do you have?

  • Hey man I'm not the only one who has this opinion. Look at all the comments on this page.

  • yeah, i dont think they have any gold medals either. and they probably aren't a certified barbershop judges.

  • so are they actually gonna be a quartet now?

  • I certainly hope so .. Because they really would sound good.. Tenor from Vocal Spectrum, who won 2006 Lead from Platinum, who won 2000(?), Bass from Max Q, and also lead(bari) from Max Q, who won 2007. There is no way they can't be good and lead is amazing guy! good very good voice

  • fucking awesome

  • Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent guys.

  • Beautiful.

  • please don't say holly derosa. he might start to believe it. :S

  • HOLY DEROSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing! Goosebumps!!

  • Joe Connelly's voice sounded like it was hurting pretty bad. I'm sure they do it much better. But yeah DeRosa just killed on that last chord!

  • Hes just trying to sing it low (ala Acoustix)

...I think he's probably just heard the acoustix version a million times too.

  • i just want to start by saying that these guys are awesome! as individuals, they are the best at what they do, and in their quartets in the past, they have shined, but in this one, i don't know what it is, but it just doesn't sound right. it may just be that their blend is off. i know that that is why this is a fantasy quartet, but does anyone understand what i mean?

  • yea. I'm not sure if it's because I've listened to the acoustix version thousands of times, but it's just not the same. They are still amazing though :)

  • haha, so much sound. four loudest people ever. you can hardly hear tim, heh

  • They're incredible. Tony's third at the end was awesome. I've been trying to learn this tag from ages. does anyone know it?

  • I've transcribed the whole song if you want it just em@il me

  • I want this arrangement haha.. actually I want all of your transcriptions lol ^^

  • You should really give money where its due (to Joel Rutherford.) Its available on the barbershop website.

  • I was under the impression that it was Oxley who arranged it...

  • Well they have it listed as Fred King now which I knew he did one of the versions. But looking on there I didn't see the other person who did it because they used to have two. And I'm pretty sure it was Rutherford. If it was Oxley then I stand corrected.

  • I believe that it was the legendary Fred King with some alterations by Jeff Oxley when he was singing in Acoustix.. Hope that helps! - Tim W. (tenor of Vocal Spectrum/Fantasy Qtet!)

  • I believe they did this show on 2 hours of practice

  • wow quite impressive !!

  • Excellent...I wish the lead was the one from Acoustix though (his voice his stronger in the low register) the tag is awesome ! on of my favorite

  • MORE FROM THE STAGE SET!

  • ppl might disagree with me but thats ok. now im not disputing that this tag is extremely hard...IT IS, its just that ive heard better renditions of it here on youtube [accoustix stars and stripes] BUT one has to admit that the last chord makes up for any faults in the song. that chord ROCKED!!!

  • Wow!!!

  • The tag is the best tag ever...in the history of the world...it's amazing!....now i'll be off to go pick up my jaw off the floor
