Man I love the original spyro trilogy, not only because of the cute humor and top notch platforming, but the glitches and 'hidden stuff' as well, there's tons of em and I guarentee no one has found all of them, makes you wonder what they were or what could have been.

Beta. Happens all the time in video games. It's hard to delete code without fucking up everything in the game. That's why game developers leave the stuff in. Have you seen the OOT beta stuffs? In almost every game, there's stuff that doesn't make the cut though. I like the way Insomniac handled it in Rachet and Clank. Leave it all in one place as a reward

It looks like a tunnel that leads to one of the bonus game rooms.

I know they had a lot more of them planed but cancelled a bunch of them, there's video's everywhere showing a portal that doesn't work, or a sealed off room like this.

A lot of times programmers will create things like that for an idea for an area. Or they were going to make that room but closed it off due to not finishing it.
