  • excellente version... Avec celle de Isaac Hayes une des meilleures!!!!!

  • One of my all time favorite songs. :0)-

  • @GordonKeys: Eliot Lewis is one of the most talented and versatile artists of our time.!!

From what I've read, it looks like he is branching out, making his own CD's. He is also a very talented photographer. His talents are endless, his voice is incredible. All I can say is stay tuned!!

  • @lired70 And he's a good guy too!

  • Elliott Lewis is the freak'n bombbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb....yup!!!!!

  • Jack Nicholson on guitar

  • Ah yes, that's Freddie V on sax, a true talent. And yeah, Elliot is pretty cool too. I agree; I don't even like falsetto, but he rocks it.

  • Forgot to say... the man can blow on the sax....love it!!!!!

  • Elliott Lewis... 2 words... Hellllllllllllllla Bomb!!!!!

  • After the song, DJ said, 'Average White Band' I thought, he made a mistake or just joking. How about 'Above Average White Band'??

Back in the day, great soul tunes.

  • Eliot Lewis's vocals are outstanding!!! OK, IMHO, I don't think that Dary Hall will ever let him showcase his amazing voice. Too much ego there!!!!

  • @lired70 Eliot doesn't get much of a turn on Daryl's show. Why he isn't in AWB now is beyond me. He plays get bass, guitar, and keys. What an asset to AWB. Miss him in the band.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was waiting to hear this song and when Eliot Lewis started to sing my ear pirked up and I've been in love with his voice every since. How can he not want to sing this song anymore. I might understand how he wants to do his own thing but that wasn't Minsky Minsk singing that was the silky smooth voice of Mr. Lewis himself and he doesn't get his just do's. I love his music, all of it in all of it's forms.

  • Damn, Elliot Lewis sounds good, has a very good set of pipes on him...He is awesome man...

  • If you think this is good listen to the 1979 live version

  • Certainly sounds like Hamish - is it dubbed?

  • Saw the Band live in 1979 - Fantastic

  • BEST whiteboys soul band bar none

  • excellent!

  • ~ WOW ~ EXCELLENT ~

    He sounds like Hamish !

    LOVE THIS !

  • jesus how much does he sound like Hamish

  • No wonder Daryl Hall sounds so good at home.....hes got this guy doing backing vocals....amazing......

  • As Eliot's current solo tour manager - I have been "bugging" him to put this song into his solo act - I think it would be awesome !!!

  • Fabulous!

  • I love this

  • Oh Yeah, Diggin this!

  • they the fucken bomb man i love u average white band ..wish use would get together and come to new zealand be a sellout tour for sua ..

  • Just love Elliot Lewis!!!!!!!

  • Whoa........awesome!!!!

  • 2 people need to keep walkin' on by...

  • one of the best version

  • esta música sempre terá uma nova roupa

  • Not bad for an average band, simplt the best!!!!!

  • Caught the great show at the Birchmere in Alexandria last weekend, they blew that room away!

  • Saw Average White Band sing this song live a long time ago and I have never forgotten how good it sounds....One of my all time favorites....

  • The 2 that dislike this song are the one's who tried too copy it and failed, the pricks !!!!

  • This version of Walk On By just rocks... nobody does R&B better than AWB.

  • Get down with your bad self Elliot!

  • scotlands finest

  • so sad.., still great song tho

  • Amazing sound, I'm in my happy place!

  • I've been finding out about Eliot Lewis in reverse. Found out about hm from Daryl Hall (and - Live From Daryl's House), and worked my way backwards to Average White Band.

  • A great band. Never realized how good they were. The years flew on by without my ever catching this group much. Too bad.

  • @yesyoumay At least you know about them now, and, can enjoy the great music. Its always great finding out about artists like them, isn't it?

  • Eliot Lewis has a great voice and is really cute! Nice. Beauty and talent. I bet he's smart too! I wish he'd get back with AWB, or do some cool solo stuff. Not sure how much Hall and Oats I can take, granted they were great back in the day! HOLLA!

  • AWB can make any song sound better love the way they preform this song

  • MR LEWIS, I SALUTE YOU

  • Just a killer musician,Elliot is. Playing with Daryl Hall w must, be an honor , All these gigs are just part of a musical journey, amazing!.

  • you can tell a great band when a live version sounds just as good as it does from the studio. these guys are seasoned vets

  • What a Performance? Love the track.

  • Was the reggae flava on the original recording?? That's some pure, unadulterated GENIUS!!!

  • @OGGilmoregirlz1 Nope, they added the Reaggea beat and this makes it all so interesting. Dion Warwick is the one who made it most fanous in the '60s and '70s. She's a classic too. Check her out. Sheis Whitney Houston's aunt.

  • The very best version ever of this song. Love the way it opens.

  • to paleblue498: thanx - u r so damn right!!!

  • Really, how can anyone take (c)rap seriously after you hear real musicians like this???

  • Just discovered this band, I've been missing out! I fucking love these guys! :D

  • Had noticed Elliot on keyboard, when discovering all the great musicians and performances on Daryl's House. Loved when Alan Gorrie was playing Pick Up the Pieces with Daryl.

  • Back in March 1992, I was staying down Cape Cod, and in the hotel lobby was a flyer for the Average White Band playing at Christine's in Dennis. We had dinner in the restaurant and people were going into the big function room and we thought AWB was sold out. We gave the doorman a tip and sat at a little table right across from the band with about 10 ft. of floorspace. They were incredible. Elliot was new to the band and excellent! What a treat to seem them so intimately. Awesome memory.

  • Damn, Eliot. You were fun too flirt with during the H.&O. concert on Sept. 22nd here in Washington. So lucky you guys started the tour here! Hope you remember the crazy girl standing on the chair pleading to go backstage. Maybe next time you're through this area... ;)

  • Nice havn't heard this song for long time always liked their version

  • Fantastic!

  • adam deitch layin it down... hes probably like 22 or something... yeah hes the man! always lifting the bar for all drummers to be inspired!

  • Ahh yeah...this is the stuff!

  • I like this vesion a lot I love the AWB. Is Elliot Lewis a studio muscian/singer who works with different bands and sings solo with his own band or does he just play for the AWB?

  • @garrygmc Yes I blieve he is. The last I heard he went with Hall and Oats (!). Sorry but they are lame these days. I want Elliot to get back with AWB--please!

  • I got to meet Eliot last Friday night (7/23/2010) in downtown Chicago. Hall & Oates was playing to a sold-out crowd at teh Chicago theater. I had 16th row seats for the show, and I was outside the entrance smoking before the show (along with hundreds of others).. Eliot came around the corner to take a picture of the theatre marquee when I spotted him. I waited until he headed back down the alley towards the stage door before I hollered at him. We spoke for 10 minutes - nicest guy you could meet.

  • @righttrackent Cool. I don't mean to be a groupee, but... if I were going to be, I would for this dashing man. He can sing!

  • It´s just me?, or the singer its seemed to jack nicholson?

  • Oh Elliot, you are SO hot. Will you marry me? I'll be at SUMMERFEST in Milwaukee to hear you guys tomorrow for the 4th of JULY. I'd never walk on by you!! I'd walk with you and never say good-bye!!! You'd break down and cry cuz I'd love you SO much!! WISH YOU COULD read this and serenade me tomorrow night!

You're playing same time as Danny Gokey too! Love ya! KAT

  • this song gave me the shivers over 25 years ago and it still does today, haven.t heard it for a long time thanks for sharing !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWB....

    Once in a lifetime band!!!!!

  • These guys are TIGHT. Everyone of them is spot on with everything, can't ask for much more than that.

  • Nice...the Drummer is Good. Nice foot work....Mixing up Nice !!!

  • That boy's got some fuckin' pipes on him!!

  • Saw Them 4 free with Rare Earth. They did not do their signature song...Get Ready. They had Elliot on bass.Elliot is good on bass, but I like the original set up,Dam..I want to meet them talk about music

  • Elliot Lewis ,I know of from Live from Daryl's House , damn what a great vocalist /bass player . His falsetto work is out standing ,no strain . Hey Daryl let take some lead vocals on something. He is a awesome musician .

  • @76alembic Hi, I'm glad you commented on Elliot's voice - he is wasted on backing vocals/keyboards with Daryl Hall and Chromeo. I take it you're a bassist given your youtube user name. I always wanted to play one (Alembic bass) but sadly never had the money.

  • OH MY GOD!!!!! these guys deserve a grammy for this , i almost cried........

  • these guys are incredible live!

  • It's called "blue eyed soul" From back in the day! Long live AWB!

  • "blue eyed soul" by any other name is called "Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery."

Long Live Black American Music Culture.

  • Elliot Lewis is amazing; he plays keyboards for H&O, guitar for AWB and sings!. Also, check out video of him and Monte Montgomery doing Sara Smile. BTW, I brought about Daryl Hall and Monte getting together by sending Monte's clip on Youtube! Power of the internet....!

  • Sounds great! Did they give you free tix to theri concert or a CD? :). I am going to try to see AWB when they are in town in NY in Dec. I will check out the H&O. Elliot Lewis is the bomb!

  • No; but hey...it's the result that counts!

  • Elliot Lewis is with Daryl Hall and John Oates now. Check out Live from Daryl's House,(online)you'll see him there performing.

  • Seen Average White Band in person back in the 60's. They are still as great now as they were then. Too cold......Tear it up, AWB!!!!

  • Alan Gorrie looks like Jack Nicholson

  • so he does...totally

  • Thanks Saanzacs....

  • I realize not Hamish S....

    Yet. WHO IS HE?

  • That'll be Elliot Lewis, he isn't with AWB anymore

  • Well, lately I`ve been diggin a lotta WAR myself. Check that out.

  • Check the Wycleff stuff from tommytv, yes.. he is and I quote the man himself "from the school of jazz".

Candy Dulfer is a dutch sax player, did a lot of stuff with the funk master Prince himself.

  • Not sure if it is genetic or environmental but all black people don't have the inclination for funk and some white people do. Might as well get used to it we're all trapped in this mixed up funky world.

  • Hey, it doesn't matter if one is blue, green, white, black or yellow! Music is INTERNATIONAL! I have always loved the AWB because THEY HAVE SOUL! Go on you mates! Nnek@ ;o) xxx
