You can mix in bits of cardboard, but not run a load just on it. Hay needs to be pelletized.

Hey, very good useful info and concise! What about other wood products such as cardboard/papers? I am guessing they are similar in quality to sawdust/fine wood chips? How about dry grass hay or straw?
