In the UK, Doctors use green flashing lights to signal to other road users that they are on their way to an emergency, however their is currently nothing in the Road Traffic Act that states drivers must allow priority of doctors cars with green flashing lights through traffic, they dont have any of the road exemptions as emergency vehicles with blue lights do. It is just general courtsey to pull over and allow the doctor pass as they are on an emergency.
@LILxMURF3 Out of hours GPs are *NOT* allowed to use green lights - they have no official meaning or use under the road traffic act. If anyone drives displaying a green light they will be stopped by police, fined and taken to court. Emergency vehicles use blue lights only, green has no meaning in this country. check the road traffic act and highway code. A doctor/GP on call is not permitted to exceed speed limits or use any lights on a car like green or blue. No one has to stop or move!
Not more than two (2) green lights may be displayed on a vehicle and each light must be of the flashing or revolving type and visible at three hundred sixty (360) degrees.
Even though it is not in law I do and always would allow a doctor to pass with green flashing lights on.
