Wow, that was an annoying trailer. I was excited when I heard the title of this movie: I've long been fascinated by the Chick tracts, having found them on the bus when I was in high school. I've wondered about this guy, who he was, what his motivations were....and they give us interview after interview with his followers? That should, at most, be a minor theme in the film. Either that, or friggin' rename it. Do we ever learn anything about him? Has anyone here seen it?

I think Jack Chick is amazing. I have read his comics with great interest and suspicion, but found that everything he writes is accurate. It took years to research the facts in history books and various biographies, in every instance, I kept thinking "I read that in chick tracts or chick comics," He tells the truth. You shall KNOW the Truth and the Truth shall make you free. I think Chick tracts are effective because people will read them. I am a former Catholic btw.

Wow, that was an annoying trailer. I was excited when I heard the title of this movie: I've long been fascinated by the Chick tracts, having found them on the bus when I was in high school. I've wondered about this guy, who he was, what his motivations were....and they give us interview after interview with his followers? That should, at most, be a minor theme in the film. Either that, or friggin' rename it. Do we ever learn anything about him? Has anyone here seen it?

Jack T. Chick's "God" is NOT a God: According to Chicks's gospel, if a soul whose name cannot be found in the "Book of Life", this "God" has NO OTHER CHOICE but to condemn this soul to hell. Yes, he MUST condemn him. But God is per definition OMNIPOTENT. Therefore, if Chick's "God" MUST do something, he cannot change the rule he himself created, or act on his will. Therefore, he is not omnipotent and therefore NO GOD.

Prophecy... Ezekiel said Nebuchadnezzar would conquer Tyre and he did not. He said it would be permanently destroyed and it wasn't. Isiah said it would be destroyed and rebuilt 70 years later, contradicting Ezekiel who said it would never be rebuilt. Ezekiel was wrong about Egypt, too.

He says that Kaiser Wilhelm II was a Catholic; he was a Protestant, which rather spoils Jack's conspiracy theory about a Catholic plot to start WW1. He says Newman was a Jesuit - he was not; he was an Oratorian: a completely different body. And that is just for starters.

As for the tissue of fictions about the late Mister Rivera being a Jesuit & bishop, or the revolting myth, attributed to Rivera by Chick, that the Inquisition tortured babies - these could have been avoided easily. You don't answer any of the objections I raised.

They accept i believe in christ and that we have the same core beliefs. That christ our savior died for our sins. We also believe in the trinity, the virgin birth. We probably agree on 90% of our beliefs. However Mr Chick doesn't think so, and if you love someone, you don't spread lies about them

It's hard enough raising a family and being a pastor although i feel the men who do this are amazing and very godly, but the point of celibacy is to focus on god alone. I think Jack Chick is amazing. I have read his comics with great interest and suspicion, but found that everything he writes is accurate. It took years to research the facts in history books and various biographies, in every instance, I kept thinking "I read that in chick tracts or chick comics," He tells the truth. You shall KNOW the Truth and the Truth shall make you free. I think Chick tracts are effective because people will read them. I am a former Catholic btw.

I hate them because how can you honestly believe that a tiny comic is going to lead ppl to Christ. The main purpose of these things is to scare ppl into getting saved so they wont go to hell. I'm sorry but claiming to be saved so you wont go to hell isn't being a Christian.

It's basically like sleeping with a prosecuting attorney so they wont put you in jail. But after the trial you aren't going to have a relationship with that person. And besides, did Jesus walk around handing out pamphlets that said "I am the son of God, follow me or go to hell". No. he built relationships with ppl. and for all the ppl bashing other denominations, thats retarded. Why do you think there are so many anyways, cause ppl got mad at other ppl and ran off and started something new.

Actually, the film itself is very non-judgemental. It let's everyone tell their own side of the story. The promo includes some big zingers, but all commercials do that. This is not a "hit piece" nor is it a religious film. It's an attempt to shine the spotlight on a unique American artist and let those who know him tell his story. It doesn't set out to program your opinion of Chick or his tracts, but rather, let you make up your own mind.

And? I wouldn't call a religious text anything but "spiritual truth", and spiritual truth can involve... oh, say, lobsters dancing around in tutus. I might be misinterpreting your comment, mind, but it seems like you're not quite getting what we mean by lies. He can link to a few Bible passages, certainly, but in the end those are the words of "educated" men from years past, divinely inspired or not. No, he just writes blatant lies born out of either a lack of research of willful ignorance.

Not true. The Catholic Church was around from the very beginning.
The first person to use the term "Catholic Church" was St. Ignatius of Antioch in the year AD 110.
Earlier writers prove that the Catholic Church had already been around long before that.

It is too bad J. R. "Bob" Dobbs is no longer alive, because he was best friends with Jack Chick, and, while also reclusive, Dobbs had quite a following in his day. I am sure "Bob" Dobbs would have loved to be interviewed for a film like this about his best friend Jack Chick. In fact, "Bob" came up with the idea of drawing the cartoons, but was not skilled at art, so he suggested the idea to Jack and things sort of took off from there. They had a falling out over the years, for obvious reasons...

Those are the messages that Jack Chick spreads, to look down and judge your fellow man, its disgusting and hateful and a very large factor in why society is so screwed up.
