Thank god they look like this, I just found something crawling on my shirt, and I was afraid that it was one, but now that I see that they look like this, I'm not so scared any more, I think it was a gnat.
Two louses walked onto a cotton ball. The one louse says to the other louse, "Why you looking so down?" The other louse replies , "Everyone wants to get rid of me, I'm on a liquid diet, and all I do is suck."

( ama a guy, and have long hair , so i really hate shaving, but i have to,as my sister infected me and my mother is too tired to get it out herself for both .
arghh ive got lice coz my seatmate on class do...and now im suffering from headlice but goodthing Ive use hair straigtener to kill them and a headlice comb plus ive use a shampoo killing lice...
im a hairstylist, and yesterday when i was parting a womans hair, i seen loads of them run with the hair when i parted it. it was really hard for me not too freak out because they were HUGE! i had too say i think she has a scalp complaint and refer her too a doctor. Well once she left, i felt so sick. i couldnt beleive the size of the things! creepy little bastards! :')
I know how to prevent lice! Here's a fact you think about: Lice attack DIRTY hair. Well your VERRRY wrong! As a matter of fact, Lice attacks CLEAN hair! You may want to keep that in mind! But that doesn't mean you stop washing your hair. The average person should shower 2 times each week. I use less Shampoo/Conditioner so if you do that too, maybe 3 times a week.
Head lice are evolving, the big ones have got wings, so no doubt they are ready for take off, then hopefully we can 'spray' them while they are 'airbourne' and kill the buggers before they land
I'm not even kidding right... My mate, a lazy bugger who doesn't check her hair, had head lice, she ran her fingers through her hair, onto paper, and you could HEAR the lous drop onto the paper (Not like a bump but a loud footstep noise) And it was fucking massive! Like the size of the 'O' letter on your keyboard... =/
Actually, I had a patient (I work in a hospital) and she had lice crawling on the sink, her bed, her chair... I HATED going into her room and the second I got home my clothes were off and I was in the shower... She had them BAD and had to be treated twice with lindane... Washed her head and the lice were RUNNING up my arms! Thankfully I was geared up nearly like someone who takes care of ebola patients so I didn't get any... Never saw an infestation as bad since, hope I never do...
dude try this; when or if you get lice and you manage to get two out put them together on a table or something. they fight and kill eachother. to get rid of them: soak your head in rubbing alchohol for about an hour or 2
I have lice and really thick hair. My hair is below my shoulders. It's really hard to get the lice out. Currently I'm using the Nix lice treatment thing but I don't think it is working. I want to get rid of them as soon as possible. Any help. And once I do get them out what should I do to prevent getting it again?
I've seen people with nervous conditions where they were sure there were bugs in their hair and scratched themselves raw when there were no bugs... You could also have a fungal infection causing itching perhaps the crawling feeling... Not sure... However, if you shaved your head then there was nothing for the lice to cling to and they would be gone... Very short hair (a buzz cut) will make it so you can see any lice...
Just remember to nit-pick... And use cream rinse (conditioner) each day and comb your hair out with a metal (metal metal metal) lice comb.. That will get rid of any nits that hatch... Do this for at least 2 weeks... The lice shampoos do not kill nits even if they say they do (take it from me, I have experience with that several times now over the years)...
Forgot, I should state to comb your hair with the lice comb while you have the conditioner in your hair... The lice get stuck in the conditioner and you can comb them out easier... Pay special attention to the hair near your scalp... They hug up against the scalp where it's hard to get the conditioner and comb near...
ew i just found out i have some, but i theyr gone already.i was so freaked out when my mom combed them out with this weird chinese comb.they were like running around everywhere on the white towel my mom used.=P ewie
If you are asking ME - yes, I have had head lice twice... First time was when I was pregnant, that was when I discovered the use of oil or creme rinse instead of chemicals... Second time was at the age of 40... I still have one child to go through kindergarden and 1st grade, I plan to do head checks very frequently during those few years of school...
Don't worry hon! There are products you can get at your nearest pharmacy (or drugstore, if you call it that). The staff will help you choose what to use. Having head lice doesn't mean you're dirty, either. Head lice like clean hair and scalps.
Not to mention the constant vaccumming, washing laundry, didn't have to worry about the stuffed animals since they hadn't really played with theirs, oh and constant picking. Miraculously got rid of this stuff in 2-3 weeks but it traumatized me so much that I stil check their heads almost every other day at least if not every day. I have nightmares about them getting it again. I swear I about had a breakdown and if we ever get it again I probably will have to be put on nerve pills!
Traumatized is a good word to use when it comes to lice infestation. It is absolutely awful trying to get rid of them! And people are so uneducated about them that they wind up never truly abolishing them from their homes and get reinfested over and over again - and infesting others... I'll never forget the first time we had lice in our home (4x so far, 1 more kid to start school which will make it 5x at least), I spent HOURS cleaning and was traumatized as well. Hence the website I made!
Oh and not to mention watching these nasty things crawling on the cottonball makes me think of shortly after I found the nits in my younger daughter's hair, I looked down and found a nit crawling on my white shirt! UGH!!! Then after we bought the CVS lice shampoo I saw a dead one wash out into the sink...YUCK. The second time we shampooed a week later I found a big dead one in older daughter's hair, looked like dried blood at first. They are DISGUSTING!
Bubblybabs I found your site shortly after almost 3 weeks of trying to get rid of headlice that my daughters caught from the kids at their school (and gave it to me!). Oh it was awful, I about had a nervous breakdown. I went crazy and tried everything, some generic CVS brand Nix type stuff, olive oil, baby oil, Dawn dishsoap, mayonnaise, Liceguard products, Robicomb (which I refunded a day later since it was actually zapping just dandruff and hurting our scalps!)...
I got lice a while back, when my sister's friend came for a sleepover. My sister got lice and gave it to me...We spent 1 year or something like that with them (getting them on and off)until finally we moved and never had them again :D
The only good thing about having lice was picking at them. :)
To check myself I leaned over the sink and used a lice comb (metal, not plastic) on my head... You have to be very thorough and watch for lice as they drop into the sink or get caught on the comb (in other words, rake through your hair, look at the comb, rake through your hair)... Be a little rough and quick, start from scalp and go to the end... If you have lice you'll start to see them fall into the sink after about 5-10 comb throughs...
My son has very short hair and I still missed lice on him due to how thick his hair is... You need to literally go through the hair in tiny tiny sections and hopefully you can find some lice before they can crawl out of eyesight... They should have used a magnifying glass w/ a light to look at your head...
My sis might have em. This girl who has lice sits next to her in class but they just found out she had them today. She didn't make any hair to hair contact. However my sis did mention the girl patted her head like twice or something (note: no clothing touched her head). Think theres a risk of her contracting them? I read your site btw, has lot of info. I give it 2 thumbs up :).
All I can say is to have someone check her hair... If the girl had hair fall off with lice on them or nits and the hair got into your sisters hair then there is the possibility of transmission... If she didn't have lice on her hand I'd say that she didn't spread them by patting your sister on the head... Thanks for the thumbs!
Very cool video. Where the hell do lice come from though? I know many times families get them from kids who go to school but where exactly did these critters originate from?
No idea... They are just something we can't seem to get rid of I believe mostly due to ignorance... I've seen people treat their children but not themselves, people put a little nix in their shampoo thinking it will protect them but it makes the lice resistant to the medication, the list goes on...
i always envisioned them as little white wormish things, this is nasty, but an eye-opener of sorts. it looks like a fly, man im glad i never got these
Being a nurse I realized how little people (even fellow nurses) knew about lice so when one of my kids got them I grabbed the camera... Guess I was both analytical about it as well as majorly grossed out... You have no idea how squeamish I am over bugs...
Thank god they look like this, I just found something crawling on my shirt, and I was afraid that it was one, but now that I see that they look like this, I'm not so scared any more, I think it was a gnat.

Being a nurse I realized how little people (even fellow nurses) knew about lice so when one of my kids got them I grabbed the camera... Guess I was both analytical about it as well as majorly grossed out... You have no idea how squeamish I am over bugs...
