  • this kick serve as same as mine....

  • I saw Oudsema play up close once. That guy can hit the cover off the ball.

  • pumped up kicks?

  • @haahs16 what

  • @haahs 16 what

  • in a kick serve, do you basically want to hit a topspin shot over your head?

  • @crowley1878 Technically, yeah. Not straight over the top though, almost on a diagonal to the right. When you see a really good kick, it bounces right.

  • Is it important that a kick serve got to hit the fence at the first bounce?

  • wide kick serve and rushing the net is the most effective play in tennis. Well, next to an ace...

  • The kick serve is look alike spin serve in this video,is it same?

  • If that would have been me, the ball would zoom pass me and i would have been like "no that was clearly going out!"

  • Serve and Volley, YAH!

  • dude theres is one kind of flat serve that skids on the grnd too

  • you can't just teach the difference. It takes a TON of practice until you are able to hit both serves at a reasonable level without missing, especially the kick

  • Who is the tallest Tennis player?

  • @TheLeilisa Ivo Karlovic

  • I recommand people to hit more kick serve. I fall into the normal category in the tennis world. Just under 6ft. If I practice everyday 5 days a week. Then I can do a lot with the serves. But if I only play recreationally, I think kick serves are 10 times more effective than a hard flat ball. The reason is: You are not aiming at the times, might go out, goes out fast, might come back even faster. So stick w/ a 1st Kick Hard serve and go for a nice 2nd kick. Works for me as o/ weekend

  • fukin ads!

  • which one will give u more control? if you throw the ball in front of u a little bit or out to the side of u? (behind the baseline)

  • this really helps man

  • hey will, i was wondering, my coach was a professional named adam mihok, but i can't seem to speed up my kick serve, it's too slow and i get killed, help?

  • Can you post a video lesson of a flat serve, like you've done with the Kick Serve?

  • this is the best video

  • that serve is ownage for singles & doubles

  • all them coaches think there roger federer, my First serve be;s 80-100 mph second serve the same, i can hit forehand winners, i have a good slice return, any one want to play me for £15.000 Thousand seriosly, im 5"11

  • i'll play u for 15 dollars :)

  • @dorker1992 if you are rdy to play for that money, why arent you in the pros?

  • @RobT89 pros gets like 10 thousand to like 2million and im not good enough for pro plus idk how haha...would b nice though

  • @dorker1992 opps i meant that comment for jtazz. All talk

  • @RobT89 hahah dats ok,. i was kinda confused when i got ur replied at first :P..

yeh my comment was at Jtazz as well. but it didnt show the @ sign at him so its hard to tell xD

  • Can you hit backhand winners?

  • @frozensoulxd, to be honest I cant it backhand winners, Ive no confidence with my backhand, its inconsistent, but if you force me into it ill pull it off, what im basically sayin is i wudnt exaCLTY BE ROGER FEDERER

  • Then i would own your backhand ;)

  • Damn 135!

  • should my 1st serve be a flat serve or kick serve?

i would say 70% my 2nd serves go in

  • it could be a flat serve or a heavy kick. its up to you.

  • hmm nice question. mabey try kick first because if u use kick on ur second serve..chances are its gunna be slow and easy to hit.

  • well, i would say at my level, most of my opponents cannot kill me with a return (i am still at the level where consistency dominates)

  • @animaanimaanima

Have your first serve be a hard slice.

  • What serve do you recommand for young players(12-13 years old)

    plz reply.

    great vid

  • stick to flat, i only had the strength to hit a kick serve at 14-15.

if you are able to do a kick serve,

vary it, to confuse your opponent :)

  • a topspin serve. flat serves are best used when u have a hight advantage.

  • Kick serve if you are short. But mix it with slice serve also so your opponent can´t read it.

But flat serve when you get taller.

  • Comment removed

  • Well generally it depends on how well you play but if you have a decent or above first and second serve its a slight advantage. If you have a kick serve, it bounces to your opponents right hand (assuming you're right handed) and kicks to the left after the bounce. So if this is used in Ad court and you can place it sharply towards the backhand, its kicks even further to the left so its hard to return even if you know where its going.

  • Best kick service I've ever seen

    Deadly weapon

  • The flat serve is better if you´re gonna hit it in many points becuase your opponent will learn to read you kick serve pretty fast if you use it to often and it does not have enough with speed. But it's good sometimes ofcourse.

  • if you're hitting the kick serve at least over 80 mph then its always a major weapon, especially if you can place it this well. Ifs its not a point from a mishit or an ace, then its a weak reply to put away easily.

  • kick the best!

  • Wow

  • wow... kick serve... dang... would like to learn it...

  • woow what a kick!

  • Thats a deadly kick serve! I want it! lol

  • Wow, ridculous kicker out wide.

  • Loving that kick serve.

  • HEY FYB2007 IS THAT serena williams ?

  • Its a juniorstournament i think...

and anyways if it was serena williams she would be twice as big

  • i think its asha rolle...

  • hot kick serve i wish i could do that someday

  • nice kick serve! works even better of clay though.

  • Dang, thats a beastly kick serve

  • That courts awsome

  • damn, that kick serve was brutal

  • does the kick serves work on clay

  • yep!

  • @FYB2007 does the kick serve work on smash/red court?

  • @FYB2007 where doesnt it work on?

  • even better

  • @haahs16

    Yes...

  • @haahs16 its perfect for clay i use it more often on clay, my other flatter serves wont do much damage when playing in that surface

  • @haahs16 is the Pope Catholic?

  • @imavaughanstar the Pope?

  • @federerbestcIass sarcasm. Of course the kick serve works on clay. Hence, of course the Pope is Catholic.

  • @haahs16 No, you need to install the patch 1.2.1 on your racket

  • @haahs16 they work best on clay

  • @haahs16 why not?

  • @haahs16 it works the best on clay with the high natural bounce on the surface (if u strike it properly)

  • I don't know if you cover this in any of your video's... but what kind of grip would you use for a flat serve as opposed to a kick serve...I've heard continental for flat and eastern backhand for spins. your thoughts please

  • this dude kick serve is a monster

  • if u try to do a kick serve while u throw the ball in the court then the ball would just bounce foreward. If u throgh it over your head then u can brush up on the ball to get enough topspin. I usually just put topspin so i don't know that much about flat serves.

  • whats the difference between kick serve and flat serve i mean like the ball toss

  • i'm still a beginner but i played with a lot of strong people. i noticed that if you toss the ball into the court a little, you get a pretty good flat serve. And to get the kick or top spin serve, toss it slightly above your head. so you can brush up to the ball. but that is just what i see, no guarantee there lol.

  • a kick serve toss should make contact exactly above your head, and have more hang time.

  • It just kinda depends on you. I see people hit kick serves above the head and a bit behind your head parallel with the baseline (what I do) . It also your level too. Pros hit all their serve from the middle position above your head.

  • hey will what is a good image to put in ones head in order to hit a kick serve? Is it more like throwing the racquet into the sky or something along those lines?

  • i'd focus on racket-head speed. brush up on the ball -- watch our kick serve progressions and use the abbreviated motion we start with.

  • @FYB2007 hey will, when should i pronate my wrist on the kick serve?

  • @SeekHeart Aim to go from 7 o'clock to 2 o'clock when striking the ball

  • fyb0027:

"Hey sgs. You can use an eastern backhand grip for a kick serve. That helps some players get more spin. Try that out and let me know how it goes."

Not only does it spin more it goes in even if you hit 2-3 feet above the net. The backhand grip advice really helped. Thanks a lot!

  • hey nice videos!

    i have one question tho

i have two first serves. a flat faster one and a kick that jumps up and usually ends up at my opponent's shoulder (if they are right on the baseline)

my second serve is basically my kick first serve except with more spin and obviously less pace.

    my estimated percentages are

    flat serve:50%

    kick first serve: 80%

kick second serve: 99% (very reliable but a more experienced player who can handle the spin will attack it)

  • my question is:

how can i make my first serve (with kick) my second serve so i can have a flat first serve and a stronger second serve. im looking to raise that percentage from 80% to at least 95%. my goal is to have a flat strong first serve that gets in more than half and a second serve that is a lot stronger. will that come with practice or should i try something else?

  • practice.

  • Hey, if I make a video of me kick serving, can you critique it for me please on how to improve? Because I dont get my swing right, I always slice it and it flies...

    Thanks

  • Did you say 135 mph? Wow. Was he hitting that in juniors, or is this supposed to be much later?

  • Hey man you really know your stuff in tennis so I thought i' d ask you this. I want to learn how to do the kick serve but i dont know how to hold my racket or anything for it. Man if you could please tell me how to hold my racket and other details about doing the serve i would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!! Johnathon

  • hey ludwig. continental or eastern backhand grip. we have a video on the kick serve in our channel... check it out! thx for the kind words!

  • @FYB2007 pretty much what he just said is a normal backhand grip or

hold it like you are going to use a hammer

  • Hi Will. You are talented, passionate I'm sure, confident, and hard-working. Congratulations.

  • Thanks ram!

  • @fyb

One more doubt. On your site kick serve and slice serve have been separately categorized. Are they the same or are they different? If they are different what are the major differences?

    Thanks!

  • Hey sgs. You can use an eastern backhand grip for a kick serve. That helps some players get more spin. Try that out and let me know how it goes.

  • Comment removed

  • Ya the serves are different. The slice serve hooks horizontally -- from right to left for a righty (and the opposite direction for a lefty). A kick serve curves in the air and then bounces up and in the opposite direction. For a righty, the serve hooks right to left in the air and bounces back to the right (from the server's perspective). It also bounces higher than a slice serve because of the diagonal spin on the ball.

  • @fyb

Can you tell me what grip would be more suitable for the kick serve? For the flat I use the continental (as recommended by you). But at the college courts where I play tennis, I have seen a few guys using a weird grip for their kicks and they are pretty accurate.

  • hey Will, I have a question

What is the difference between a "kick serve" and a "topspin/slice" serve(the serve that has a mixture of both topspin and slice)? They both brush the ball from 7 o'clock to 1 o'clock at a 45 degree angle.

is it just the toss differential?

  • Hey sung. They're the same serve. People just call them by different names.

  • not true.. topspin serve,, is hit by brushing striaght up the back.. kick is 7 to 1.. topspin serve and kick is not the same.. sampras use to hit a fast topspin wide on forehand court.. hewitt is famous for it on big poins to the forehand.. hits a fast second but comes up the back of the ball..

  • i thought the kick came from the rotation, at least that how mine works.

  • yes cause you hit it inside to outside,, 7 to 1 on the ball,, topspin serve is 6 to 12.. just like a topspin shot from the ground... so it is different.. you cant hit a ground stroke that kicks.. so they are different.. not the same..

  • thats not a kick serve!!! fake man...thats a slice serve...a kick serve bounce towards the opponets face...means if u spin right, it will bouce left...

  • A right hander's kick serve will kick to the right (from the server's perspective). It's the opposite for a lefty. So you can aim the serve so that it kicks into your opponent's body, but you can also place it so it moves away from him / her.

  • u watch too much prince of tennis...

  • so true so true

  • lmaoo first ep

    xD

  • haha thats what i thought to :D

  • lol WAY TOO MUCH PRINCE OF TENNIS... haha. A kick serve or "American Twist Serve" is from the angle 7 o'clock to 1 o'clock. A slice serve is from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock. a KICK serve has way more bounce to it because its a mix of a flat serve and a slice serve.

  • Monster kick serve!

  • awesome video, guy has a nasty kick serve

  • you really explain how to do them cuz it will probabaly help me a little cuz ive been playin Tennis 4 two yrs

  • kick serve sure did kick flat serve

  • that dudes kick serve is sick.

  • That's one deadly kick...

  • which racket is this person using?

  • technifibre ..... probably the TFight 320 since he makes his own pace

  • weird...mine goes left and im right handed. I'm probably just hitting a slice serve lol

  • That is wierd.. maybe you have an outside to inside swing path. Film it and post a video response in slow-mo. I'd like to see the angle of the racquet face on contact.

  • it's okay now. Just needed to fix my follow through. Didn't know you had to have a rowing motion. Only problem now is that my kick serve looks like a lob but that's easy to fix.

  • yeah mine lobs too lol

  • isnt it supposed to go left if you're left handed? b/c the rotation on the bal does towards the left, how would it go right?

  • For a lefty, the ball will move left to right in the air and bounce to the left. The bounce is due to how the spinning ball bites / interacts with the tennis court.

  • yea thats true. my twist was screwed. i followed through to my right and the ball bounced leftward -_-

  • maybe you're tossing too much towards your right and hitting a slice?

  • no, it was right above (a bit behind) my head on ball contact. Its fixed now. I got the swing wrong

  • I just recently got a hang of the kicker and I'm currently working on consistency so I hope I can get some results soon.

  • gotta love the lines that shows the ball's path

  • wow. what a monster kick serve! great vids :) im a college player and i teach too, so these vids help touch up my strokes and learn new tips to teach. thanks :)
