  • the 2009-present Subaru Outback is assembled in

    Ōta, Gunma, Japan

    Lafayette, Indiana, United States

  • any problems wif subaru transmission?

  • Actually pedal shifters makes more sense ona CVT than the regular tranny. Since the CVT goes to the highest rpm relevant to the amount of accelerator pedal is pushed, by the gearing one can adjust the time to maintain the high or low rpms with gearing. It also makes it possible to take off at any gear by limiting the highest speed.

  • Even funnier why does Sporty have to used to sugar coat an already purposeful built vehicle. It's an awesomely practical utility wagon. When it snows you love it. Need to carry a bunch of stuff, its fine, people too if you want. I always loved the Outback. This is really better. Too bad about the looks only its mom could love though. My next car after the Muscle car fun I am having will be most likely an Outback. Suby's are great cars.

  • A few years ago you could put a set of cool rims on say a Outback or Forester, and the car would look mean. I myself am an enthusiust. My 05 Forester XT is lightly modified and looks like a boss. Subaru's new stuff looks soo mediocre, so sad i want to cry!

  • I have the 2010 Outback. It's a wonderful vehicle. I like the redesign quite a bit. I just wish they'd improve the nav and audio packages. It always seems that these lag behind the aftermarket gear considerably.

  • @outoforder2day I agree. What is even funnier is that aftermarket makes them for the auto companies. Garmin is a big contract for a lot of auto manufacture NAVs.

  • The new outback and legacy look so good!

  • I recently checked one out... much better than the VW Jetta and Volvo V50 wagons I also looked at. I actually went to Subaru with a Forrester in mind, but the low end models don't have a temp gauge! WTF? Anyway, liked the Outback better.

  • i have the 2011, i love the paddle shifters! This car is great!

  • Ugly! I prefer the 2000 - 2004 look.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance

I don't think it's ugly by any means, but I do prefer the wagon look of previous models. This generation of the Outback is looking more like a small SUV, which is what the Forester is for.

I have a 1999 Outback, and I think the 2010 model has become too refined. I miss the quirky look of previous models, as well as the hood scoop. I've been considering upgrading, but I think I'd go with the 2009 model.

  • @shelton705 Its just another "me too!" design. And yes, I'm glad you brought up the parts about the hood scoop and quirkiness. There once was a time when car makers actually were unique from one another. Now, thanks to globalization and mergers and what not, its all bland to look at. We need originality again.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance

I totally agree. I used to be able to easily spot a Subaru, but now they look like every other vehicle on the road. They've even refined the Forester, which used to look like a taller version of the Outback. I'd like to see Subaru return to a more down to earth design, as opposed to appealing to the luxury crowd.

  • @shelton705 I'm sure its still a great vehicle. I used to own a 2000 Outback. However, I need something that I like to look at too and not think "If only they....".

  • @97Siren

    YOU ARE SHIT

  • @shelton705

I wouldn't worry about 97siren, I think he's about 10 years away from even being old enough to drive a vehicle. At least his useless comment is finally removed

  • @KptKrunch999

Yes, I'm glad to see it's been removed. I hate when people post dumb comments like that. You're probably right, it was probably some immature kid.

  • I don't like how the new models look

  • I own and luuuuv my subaru, but i feel toyota must have climbed in fuji heavy industries window and raped subaru....(metarphorically). Bring back pillarless windows!! It's as subaru as it's symmetrical awd.

  • Comment removed

  • @97Siren A diaper? Wow glad i am not your kid.

  • what a wonderfulll carrr...!!!!

  • 2745mm

  • 故意拍得很小....

    前座調到最後了

    坐在駕駛座膝部離前面還一大段

    行李箱也是故意使用面視角度拍得小

    為什麼不用上方拍下

    沒技術的做假

  • fuk why dont they tell about poors trannies that subaru orders from jatco , fukn quality transmissions poor performance, really makes drives nervous on the roads

  • @yelzhan123 Wow. Why did you buy one if you knew that there were transmission problems. i don't know of anyone that owns any car produced today that has transmission problems. If you produce inferior products, the word travels fast and people don't buy your product. Simple American economics.

  • @amesburydory well even if BMW is the most rubbish quality car ever made on planet earth , people still value it

  • When it comes to the roof racks you better leave out utility. These racks have limiting load capacity, no adjustment for spacing and worst of all does not allow for after market yakama or Toule bars. A family of 4 kayakers can only carry 2 kayaks unlike prior models that could accomodate 5 kayaks.

The vehical may get you to the river, but you better have another vehical to bring your equiptment. The rack system took the utility out of sports utility

  • have you no life that you have to comment on every outback video? by the way, you always misspell vehicle.

  • No, Its just that this is the 1st time I bought a brand new car and was extremely disappionted to find out that it does not meet the needs of kayakers. Subaru has alway promoted thier cars for the outdoor enthusiest, I would hope that subaru reconsiders the design of the rack for future models. I would hate for others to make the mistake I made in buying the car to fullfill a specific need when it does not fullfill that need.

  • What. just so all the kayakers in the world can be happy, these are more family cars now man.

  • @bluecoatguy03 Hey blue, thats kind of a rude comment to make. If you have the time to bitch about someone comments, well perhaps you should stop doing it and read something else. i find the comments interesting.

  • kayakdad, I urge you to tell Subaru of America about this.

Leaving out the aftermarket roof options is unacceptable for what they've been preaching. I don't know if what you say is true, but please tell Subaru of America so they could fix that problem the next time they redesign.

  • only thing about this car is the steering column stalks are way too beefy. that and the headlights - the outgoing model was definitely better looking.

  • oh my, what's this his hands??

  • im usually an xc70 person, but i like this car better now.

  • It's gonna be a great car, but why for Peter's sake they gave up frameless windows??? it was so cute!

  • framless windows became almost obsolete a decade ago. The new doors feel more sturdy and it gives the car a "grown up" feel.

  • Gave the car a more "grown up" feel? What would you know about a grown up feel! The name you chose alone detracts from ANY credibility you would have as a consumer or grown up, as you put it.

  • You my friend, are a retard. Please do us all a favor and kill yourself as soon as possible.

  • And don't be mad at me because you are driving around an old as* honda clunker.

  • thats the key phrase..."old ass honda"....they last forever!

  • Why is everyone getting so offended by this review? He's just talking to the primary concerns of people in the buying demographic. Buyers looking at an outback are far more concerned with space and utility than 0-60 and spooling turbo horsepower. I'm married, 30 years old, and have a daughter and 2 dogs, and I would find this review worthless if his primary focus wasn't on improved rear seat space and refinement.

  • Jeez all these cars. com guys are idiots.

    Subaru's are bad A!

  • this guy is an absolute idiot! I bet he has never had the pleasure if driving one.

  • all this retard does is talk about room and tap plastic.....i bet he wouldnt know that a subaru was a flat 4...he'd look at you sideways and scratch his head.

  • I love mine.

  • Love the vehicle. Considered an Outback about 12 years ago. Love it so much, we bought one today. Go drive one and you will not be disappointed.

  • What the HELL was subaru thinking! It's like a Tribeca and Volvo XC gone horribly wrong!!!

  • Wow.. I'm actually impressed about this car since it basically answers all the complaints of the older ones. I'm a fan of the Subaru wagons being wagon's but as of lately the Forester and Outback are getting fatter and taller but overall smarter. The only gripe has to be CVT tranny but atleast manual 5 speed is still gonna be STANDARD!!!

  • I believe it comes with a 6-speed manual standard now, no longer a 5-speed manual. Same goes with the Legacy sedan, 6-speed manual standard.

This new 6-speed manual is NOT based off of the WRX STI 6-speed manual, it is an evolution of the old 5-speed.

  • I have the CVT in my 2010 Outback. It gets 26-27mpg around town. 0-30 it's faster then my 04 WRX was. And I have no trouble passing people on highways.

  • Some critical reviews from the Subie subculture... honestly, I like the new Outback's appearance and it's the only reason why Subaru even made a contending spot as my next vehicle. I was never drawn to the previous Outbacks.

I test drove a 2.5i CVT, and while I felt the CVT was a bit loud, it handles adequately. It's not a race car and it's not a truck, so don't expect it to be either! Fact is, it gets great fuel economy, is affordable quality and is a spaciously good-sized vehicle.

  • nobody cares about the back seat talk about the engine and the NEW SUSPENSION....which matters in a car not the stupid back seats....americans no nothing

  • @bayareagooner Look, Duffus. If you don't like AMERICAN, get the hell out. We don't need jerks like you in this wonderful country. We Americans are interested in the back seat because PEOPLE sit there, and that is important to us. Where do you put your friends, on the roof. Go home, idiot.

  • First, the American car makers tried copying the foreign car designs. Now, Subaru is copying the old American car look. How disappointing.

  • The 2010 is actually shorter than the 2009. They extended the wheelbase and gave it a better ride.

  • Man I am so glad that I saw this and got to read what so many people are writing. I am so disappointed in the design of the 2010 Outback. It looks like some damn Chrysler Pacifica now. And why did they make it so friggin big? Ugh. I am finally in the position to buy an outback and they changed the design to this homely ass thing. Damn it all.

  • @anooseholay Well, then don't buy one. Its just that simple. And really, who cares what you think. Most people really like the simple, uncluttered design and the fuel economy and the EXTRA ROOM.

  • @amesburydory "If you have the time to bitch about someone's comments, perhaps you should stop doing it and read something else." Idiot.

  • Now that the Outback officially looks like an SUV (which sucks), I feel the regular Legacy Wagon should return to the States. Any takers? We are seriously limited in affordable wagon choices here. Also, what the fuck happened to the cool frameless windows that Subarus always used to have?

  • @qernst8 the frameless window was noisy. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Do you own one? Have you driven one? If not, why would you comment. this car is very quiet because they got rid of the frameless windows.

  • @amesburydory I have driven a few Subarus and never noticed that the frameless windows were noisy. My father also has a '85 Mercedes coupe with frameless windows and they are not noisy either. I just think it's a cool look that you don't find on many cars anymore and I'm disappointed they got rid of it. No need to be uncouth about it.

  • @qernst8 +Well, if i seemed uncouth it was unintended, truly. I have spent a lot of time reading and one of the reasons that they got rid of the frameless windows was greater structural integrity and noise, yep, noise. Wind noise. Over time the rubber gasket around the window deteriorates and loses its elasticity which results in wind noise. I looked at an 09 last year and that was the first thing i noticed, the car was not quiet. The new car has a more sophisticated look. and quieter.

  • @amesburydory If by sophisticated looking you mean femmy I guess you are right. They've taken all the ruggedness away from what was actually a good looking wagon and made it look like every other crappy crossover out there. I'll take my noisy '09 that doesn't look like it spent all day at the ice cream bar getting fat over the new one.

  • @anooseholay Femmy???? Wow. You do have a problem. What is feminine about a car. I might say rugged like a hummer, but femmy, wow. Well, i will put my wife, dog, daughter, son-in-law and grand daughter in my car and rive for three hours and arrive in comfort rather than being cramped up in a small, cramped rugged "guy" car. Dude, its not a hummer as i said. Its a subaru, nothing more. Have you wondered why their sales are up almost 40%, not cause they are producing Femmy cars. :)

  • @amesburydory I'm more than comfortable in my car whether I am going to town or driving for hours on end. Look, it's a matter of taste. I think Subaru's sales are up because people by and large like the bland look and boring appeal of all the rest of the crossover vehicles. The new Outback resembles the bastard child of a Toyota Venza and a Chrysler Pacifica to ME.

  • They where on Crack when they desighned it...

  • Trying to mimic Infiniti EX35's styling, especially in the headlights and instrument panel. The 2010 Legacy does the same to the G37 sedan. But the overall look is pretty awkward.

  • Too bad Subaru went with non-folding side mirrors. Stupid bean counters!

  • I'm not thrilled with the look of this Outback at all. I have a 1999 Outback, which is actually a Legacy Outback, and I think that's when they looked the best. Actually, they all looked pretty good until the 2010 model. My only gripe is that you can't get the newer models with the dark green exterior paint.

  • I can get used to the look...but they should not have made it bigger. The whole point of the outback is that it is NOT an suv or crossover. It's a wagon with the CAPABILITY of an suv or crossover.

  • front lights looks so ugly 2009 is better

  • omg they fucking ruined it looks like crap now

  • you suck!

  • Wow, Subarus are getting huge. Looks like a Toyota.

  • I like Subaru vehicles, but I can't help but think the new Outback looks like my aunt just sat on the hood of a Tribeca...

  • haha...the guys is funny

Huge outback though...great for people with kids and stuff

  • Damn, that Outback looks tall for a wagon. Should I call it a wagon, or a SUV? Love the styling!

  • My favourite styling is still the 2000 - 2004 models.

  • Mine is the 2005 - 2009 models, but I'd go 2000 - 04 before 2010

  • Yeah, better than the 2010 model for sure. The 05-09 is just a more aggressive styling and it does look good. I just prefer the 00 - 04 neutral look.

  • They did a nice Job kudos Subaru.

  • it still qualifys as a wagon? it looks so much like an suv

  • Gosh I simply love Subaru's, they just keep getting better & better.

  • why cant stupid youtube automatically go to "HQ" i hate having to start every video and then fix it to HQ

  • lol yeah. This one is actually HD though

  • go to account click on play back setup select i have a fast connection play HQ then save changes now it will always go to hq when avalible

  • Damnn the front grill looks awful...

  • yeah it does. it kinda looks like an acura grille... oh well, at least this model is better than the last model.

  • outback and venza are good but I will go for venza if I have to pick one

  • I would buy it over the toyota Venza.

  • venza is an obvious ripoff of the outback's whole concept anyway

  • @derailedb i hope so

  • joe rules

  • haha

    agreed.

  • the current and first gen outbacks are the best looking

  • I will buy them

  • I was at the NYAS yesterday and tried out the 2010 Outback. It's not bad, and not as ugly as people are crying about.

Compared to my 2001 Outback, it's unbelievably more comfortable and definitely a step up in quality and style.

  • the guy look and sound sooooo gay. hahaha!!!!!

  • Look fantastic! Go Subaru!

  • God thats ugly... i have an '05 that looks sooo much better

  • Iv seen worse, but i agree

  • Comment removed

  • Awh, I appreciate your videos! Thanks for making them. Nice lighting that you used when you were recording it (; haha

  • I WANT WAGONS. VOLVO AND VW AND AUDI- more praise to them for making REAL wagons!! not fucking crossover shit like GM is cranking out

  • Comment removed

  • i would rather have a wagon, like the a4 avant 2.0T than the outback for the same price around 36k. the wagon will handle better, look better, still have AWD, and get better mpg, the audi mentioned above gets around 25 mpg combined.

  • Comment removed

  • nope.

  • @caraddict520 no way, You need a QUATTRO version to have roughly the same type of AWD...and THAT versione costs ONLY A FEW more bucks :-) ain't it ?????

  • the outback is the only cool wagon on the market

  • Comment removed

  • yes I did. the only way for a wagon to be cool is if it looks like an SUV, like the outback

  • Comment removed

  • I dig the legacy wagon.

  • Joe Wiesenfelder does a good job with his review. I would like to see you pick up on things that may surprise the buyer. For instance, I was shocked when I bought a 2004 Jetta TDI at the cost of motor oil and transmission fluid for this vehicle.

  • i love the new forester, but the front of this one is going to end up being replaced fast! (like the tribeca front was replaced after many complaints)

  • Fuck the "crossover", bring back the REAL wagons.

  • @Yoda8232 Do you own one? I do. It meets the needs of many people. Obviously, not yours. So, buy something else.

  • @amesburydory The Outback is a great wagon, but this generation is more of a SUV that a wagon aka "crossover" as was referring too.

  • Honda oddyssey is way better than this....

  • I had an '08 Odyssey and it is a good vehicle, but Honda let the attention to the finish slip. It had weld spray and paint blemishes that I hadn't seen on a car yet. There was a gap between the ceiling liner and the front windshield. They told me that that was correct, but it didn't look right. Also the salesman tried to tell me that this stuff is normal with cars today! On winter gas it was getting about 14 or 15 mpg in town.

  • what is the point of getting this? the forester is better. and better looking. this thing is HIDEOUS!

  • It looks like a Tribeca. I wonder how big it is in person...

  • There's a limit how big these cars can get grow, especially in the narrow Japanese streets ...

  • 2:10 - Haha, watch the guy in the background desperately try to find the hood release.

  • lol

  • haha, that gave me a good laugh

  • I really liked my Scooby Outback - it was super practical. It's that arare thing - a Japanese car that isn't shit.

  • Its not bad looks it ok but its about the size of the 04 foresters so cool beans for me =P

    turbo now?

  • lets go outback to night

  • lol
