  • i have a 79 cj5 and ive always wanted to do wat he does at @0:32 from the freeway!

  • If you rolled one of these, not one thing would be buggered except a few scratches from rocks.

If you rolled a Modern 4WD of these days, It would scrunch up like paper.

  • @PeteWaddell X2, more likely nowadays you'd break alot of expensive plastic parts... Too much plastic in the name of safety if you ask me. Bring back a flat metal dash and a design that encourages people to drive slower like the jeep in general and you'd have less fatalities without living in a nanny state.

  • @BrenGun1971 Haha.. yeah I agree. Too many Electrical stuff too. I say dont limit the speed, just limit the careless women drivers! hahaha!

  • haha i want one.lol iv got a grandcherokee now. and now i want a 73 cj5 so bad.

  • How could you not want one of these!

  • lost kidneys @0.40sec

  • I just bought a roached out 1963 Willy's CJ5. It sits right next to my 2004 Rubicon in the garage. It doesn't run at the moment, it's ugly as sin, and it's beat to hell, but I love it. I'm considering a ground up restoration back to stock including the F134 Hurricane engine. I plan on a complete YouTube video series and posting it on my website as well so everyone can follow along. Once complete, I intend on wheeling it at our Jeep club events.

  • @OHVTrails1 Looking forward to seeing it! If you need any advice feel free to check into my jeep forum, thisoldjeep dot 21 dot forumer dot com/

  • No seatbelts through the entire commercial... lo death

  • Comment removed

  • This was my very first vehicle. Granted, I bought it in 2001. But how I wish I never sold it. I don't have any of the option here though, air conditioning! Seriously. My Jeep was a simple buggy, no options, with a big ass 304.

  • @deweys Yep, I think that we all have regrets about at least one that we let go... I know that I do too.

  • This video comfirms my feelings that the only wrangler I want is a two door. I know everyone doesn't feel this way, but to me the two door is the iconic "Jeep" and part of the lineage and history that dates all the way back to the world wars. I may be alone on this, but I see the Unlimited as more of a stretch limo that accomodates the SUV frenzy and not the true icon. To have a real Jeep, you have to accept it's flaws and impracticality.

  • @NemeanLion You bring up some good points that I agree with (after all, I do drive a small two door Wrangler with two kids car seats that fill up the rear so much so that if I go grocery shopping with them I have to take everything out before I can tilt the seat forward..) but I'm glad that there's a four door for families. And anything that helps sell jeeps to future generations and keeping the brand going is good. Not saying you're wrong but they're STILL the representative of the modern icon!

  • How often do ya see a dealer sales film that says, SURE JUMP IT!

  • @talltommy46 Things were sure much simpler even 30-40 years ago!

  • @BrenGun1971 Doin my best to keep it alive.. Some of us STILL live free!

  • 0:30 is that legal?

  • @kiopi94 Maybe not, but it looks like fun, who needs a paved exit?

  • @kiopi94 it is if you are in a Jeep!! haha

  • Passenger loses hat at 3:00

  • @mustangcharger Gotta love those small unscripted things!

  • Can´t describe how much i love this 4x4.

  • @gfr1980 Yep, right there with you! Check out my website listed in my profile/channel for lots more of the jeep!

  • Great video i have a 1979 CJ-5 and a M38a1 that was back when jeep was a 4x4 you could depend on now there a grocery getter or soccer mom car- Lt. Brad Duncan USMC

  • I wish jeep would go back to this....not the JoKe they are now

  • @DX721 Well, there are still plenty of jeeps out there that need restoring... and while they have been modernized, there is plenty of heritage and the looks that Jeep has kept. :)

  • @BrenGun1971 I'm not a fan of the 4 door, but I saw a new jeep that had a 6.6 hemi in it. pretty bad ass. I'm about to drop a 360 in my CJ5

  • @Patrickclimbs Where was this hemi powered Wrangler? Wish that Jeep would make it a regular model or with a decent diesel.

  • @BrenGun1971 I have heard of a diesel they are making for the army. but yes, they need to put some balls under the hood via factory. I saw this jeep on the Jeepforum website. I can't post the link but just search for Rubicon 6.1 hemi build on jeepforum's site.

  • @DX721 You're talking out your add. Current Jeep - the JK is the best Jeep ever. But I love and respect the old school ones. The CJ was better that the MB, the YJ was better than the CJ and the TJ / LJ was better than the CJ. The JK is even better. Want proof? Youtube Jeep Moab

  • @texaskev09 i disagreethe jk isnt better jeeps went down hill after the year like 97 they went ta push button 4 wheel drive and they have a bunch of emmisions shit on them theyre built more for comfort than off roadin

  • @pudgeya1 They'd be out of business though if they didn't aim to make their vehicles attract the mainstream buyers. Not the minority who want an uncomfortable off road machine.

  • @pudgeya1 Jeep Wranglers have had lever operated transfercases since the dawn of time, and they still do. The rest of your comment has -0- credibility.

  • @DX721 You're talking out your ass. Current Jeep - the JK is the best Jeep ever. But I love and respect the old school ones. The CJ was better that the MB, the YJ was better than the CJ and the TJ / LJ was better than the CJ. The JK is even better. Want proof? Youtube Jeep Moab

  • @texaskev09 I'm pretty sure a stock TJ and perhaps even a YJ is just as capable as the JK. Most of the stock 4x4 Jeeps KJ, TJ, JK, CJ, XJ, and other non-Rubicon models can do the same trails. Now when it comes to modifying them, the Wrangler and CJ have them beat. Either way, to follow the Jeep tradition, we must continue modding! We do not buy a stock Jeep and expect it to meet our standards.

  • @NotoriousJam Hardly. The YJ couldn't even keep up with a stock TJ, let alone a JK.

The JK has more suspension travel, more ground clearance, better angles and real traction control which makes it far better than a TJ, which the YJ is leagues behind.

While the Wrangler may not be as simple as a toothpick anymore, it will wheel circles around a CJ, and make a YJ and TJ sweat.

  • @JSSJeepin i disagree. The JKs and TJs are both very capable rigs, and yes you do have a point that CJ5s and 7s have leafs, and YJs and XJs leafs in the rear. A leaf wont give as much suspension travel as a coil, but when you lift a TJ or JK with the 4 wheel coils, it shifts the weight weird on rocks. I own a TJ and an XJ and i have done some off roading with some people in a club. There is a CJ5 that keeps right up with us. One person actually wants to put leafs on his TJ. Feels more stable.

  • @JSSJeepin Plus, more parts are made for the TJ because it is the off road Jeep, arguably off road vehicle of chose, because it is simple, has one of the best motors jeep has ever made (4.0 liter). The JKs have that 3.6 liter. I have driven one to me they feel under powered. Hey im not trying to bash JKs i really do like them i think they are a sweet rig. But I know the TJ will be the Jeep most serious guys pick.

  • @DX721 You mean you want weak frames that rust to pieces, steering boxes mounted with bubble gum, carbs made from carboard and emissions systems made of spaghetti, suspensions from oxcarts and electricals that make Lucas look like Einstein? No thanks, I'll keep the JoKe.

  • 70's commercials were long

  • I have an 02 wrangler and the similarities and differences are amazing

  • Had a '75 so this brings back some memories!! They also don't make commercials like this anymore either.

  • @Tizzerator Very true!

  • I always want to drive of the freeway on to embankment.

  • nice video. we have a similar CJ5 1973 Jeep. Great machine!!

  • @ecocultura Thanks! I'm envious, I used to own a '73 myself and miss it every day. Check out lots more at my website listed in my channel!

  • Too bad Jeep doesn't make tough and affordable Jeeps like the CJ's anymore. A restored CJ costs as much as a new Wangler X nowadays. Most of the older Jeeps have been modified to where they aren't as cool, as a stock one.

  • @cessna40 completely agree. if the jeep corperation wanted to make vehicles that ANYBODY would drive, they need to make them less expensive, a base model jeep should cost no more than 10,000. make all these computer traction control features optional, that kinda stuff. i mean really there is no reason for a jeep to cost 20,000+ for something the driver is likely to beat the hell out of.

  • Very impressive

  • gotta love America's glory days.

  • thanks so much for posting this!

  • @ozmarty You're welcome. Lots more at my website! Check out my channel!

  • excelent!

  • spine broke @ 0:19

  • @PALU3K Not to mention a lost hat... talk about adding insult to injury!

  • THAT WAS COOL!!! I had a '79 golden eagle you would work on it a week to drive it a day but that day you drove it made it worth it

  • That's the best commercial I've ever seen! I wish I could see the 76 though!

  • Go Jeep!!
