  • Is this in san diego? Man.. when i used to live there, I always went to that beach..

  • which part of the ghost shrimp do you use? cut into small pieces right?

  • @MrSaeteurn You go through all that trouble to pump up live ghost shrimp and then you cut it up?! No, you definitely want to fish the ghost shrimp whole and as alive as possible.

  • whats the limit?

  • @MrSaeteurn In California, the limit of ghost shrimp is 50 per day per person total along with any mud shrimp you may also pump up.

  • @bigminnowfisher they are fishing for small fish, i dont think the small fish can eat them like that. if you are going for a big fish like sturgeon then yes, use as whole.

  • @MrSaeteurn If you have really big ghost shrimp, then you can cut them in half for smaller fish. But generally the ghost shrimp we get when we pump in Southern Cali is pretty small (~2 in). A whole shrimp is easily eaten by black perch, opaleye, etc. Any fish smaller than that and you probably wouldn't want to catch it anyways.

  • Cabezon are a species of sculpin. They do have venomous dorsal spines, so careful w/those.

  • @BandCBallPythons California sculpin have venous spines, but Cabezon do not. The only part that is poisonous on a Cabezon is the roe, and only if you eat it.

  • Very nice looks like fun :)

  • where is this????

  • look fun! where can i get that pump? does every beach have sand shimp? i live in venture, CA ...we have sandcrap ...but dont know about the sand shrimps

  • @anhthai999 You can get the pump online or at your local saltwater tackle store. Don't know have far up or down these shrimp live. Try googling it.

  • Umm dude sorry but htats not ghost shrimp not sure what type of shrimp it is they dont have pinchers

  • @Wowvids2222

Umm....no. Those are definitely ghost shrimp which do indeed have pinchers. One generally larger than the other. You may be thinking of sand shrimp or grass shrimp...or possibly (but not likely) glass ghost shrimp, but they are too small to even use for bait.

  • in sf we use it for sturgeon fishing

  • just a little tip that the biggest ghost shrimp are in the holes about the size of 1/4 of a dime not the nickel sized holes.

  • got to go get some Ghost shrimp now where was you pumping for the ghost shrimp?

  • @MrEastside619 Dog Beach...park by the ballfields at Mission Bay park. Just make sure the tide is right.

  • @paoloromero619

Dog beach is in OB...I'm confused?

  • @sexy52637 it's right next to dog beach in the Mission Beach area

  • @paoloromero619 where can i get a pump like that?

  • Please tell me where this is? anyone? please

  • the algae eater you are talking about is actaully called a plecostomus not sure if i spelled it right though

  • Lol nice post I pump my ghost there too. But where's that fishing spot? I usually get opaleyes and rockfish at sunset but never in mission bay. I only caught some bass perch and hali at mariners way. Could u tell me that fishing spot?

  • damn wtf you guys where on fire! hey wheres the best place to look for ghost shrimp specifically?

  • @WordOfTheDayguy Dog beach...park about 50 yards down from the softball fields. Then go straight down from your parking spot. It's a little difficult to explain but if you go park at the park, look out for people pumping.

  • @paoloromero619 thanks man im gonna check out that spot this weekend. dang again man,, great video! those shrimp where attracting all of em

  • oh ghost shrimp are the same as yabbies

  • omg thats so cool i forgot how fun this was i used to do this with my friends back in the sixth grade and we would get them for our fish tanks

  • push down and pull pump.

  • dont you hate it when stupid azz come up and ask what your doing, im like look MF, mind your own business

  • the limit is actuall 50, but do you guys fish in mission bay? in mariners basin i usally get tons of shrimp with my pump

  • @coolhc yeah we fish mission but sometimes we'll fish off sunset cliffs. Rock fish all over the place at the cliffs.

  • @paoloromero619 Wait, I thought ghost shrimp were freshwater? and aren't they transparent?

  • Your "baby cabezon" was a fringehead and then probably the same fringehead again

  • Your "baby cabezon" was a fringehead

  • i bought some at petsmart

  • @megastagbeetle same but they look completely different

  • is this bonita cove? next to belmont park

  • @sao68053 I don't think so we parked at Mission Bay Park near the softball fields

  • can i catch these in NY

  • @Hiimhaselah I have no idea...I believe these ghost shrimps are only in southern California

  • @paoloromero619 We have same shrimp here in Vancouver, B.C. coast. Great bait for all species of fish. These shrimp range from Alaska to South American coast.

  • do they have these type of ghost shrimp in northern california cause all i can find are sand crabs

  • I got my fishing license for 40 to fifty bucks cant remember i got it at sports authority and i go get ghost shrimp at that same spot its a good place to pump u get alot hope it helped=)

  • I believe a 1 day fishing license is 13.50

  • do u need a license if so how much is it

  • @irunAllOverU12 just a regular saltwater fishing license. Forgot how much it is though. I'm sure someone out there knows the price. Right?

  • @paoloromero619 like 15 bucks for the day pass

  • @irunAllOverU12 for a year for a california resident its about 43 or 45 dollars

  • wheres a good place in san diego to pump shrimp?

  • @MrSurfndive next to Dog Beach

  • @paoloromero619 Next to what dog beach theres like four in SD

  • @fishin4lif I8 west all the way towards Mission Bay Park. Park your car at the park (water side) then look for pumpers or dogs. Cross water and pump in shallow areas.

  • @paoloromero619 rhank you soooo much is this a good area?!

  • @fishin4lif it's a public park.Not a bad area at all.

  • @paoloromero619 NO no no no I dont think you understand is it agood area for getting the ghost shrimpys

  • We used to get these by the bucketful on the Oregon coast in the 70's , but I remember you had to angle the shrimp gun at a certain angle relative to the sun, we would pull in 20 or 30 per pull. My Grandmother said they would escape if you didn't get the angle right. When we didn't do it right we would get 2 or 3 per pull.

  • Ok and do you know any places to catch them at San Diego bay

  • @jajal1234 no not in the bay. Maybe someone out there knows a spot...

  • if anyone wants a shrimp pump i sell quality pumps for $25 on ebay msg me on youtube if intrested

  • Where can I get one of those in San Diego for 25-30 dollars?

  • @jajal1234 I don't want to give any free advertising so just go to any tackle shop that sells saltwater gear. I'd call a couple first to see if they carry pumps then decide who has the best price.

  • Two questions:

    How does that place smell?

Is what you're doing worth it?

  • @lureyourkidsinvan it does not smell at all.It looks bad but it isn't.Just muddy.Yes, it is worth it.Guaranteed hook ups!I'm very confident that if you have ghost shrimp, you can catch fish whether off the rocks or from a boat.Try it!

  • a clam gun works really well also. we had a group of kids from France at the beach we were digging at and they were really excited to pick up the shrimp for us, lol.

  • @KungFuMien yeah kids love doing stuff like that no matter where they're from.

  • did you killled them?

  • @iKuba4G We let the rest go after fishing.

  • wow where is this this sand looks very diffrent

  • @iKuba4G Near Dog Beach

  • @iKuba4G near Dog Beach

  • I did this when I lived in SD! right next too dog beach when the tides are low~

  • i think ive seen u guys fishing at Coronado ferry landing pier?

  • @GanjaGods I don't doubt it. We have a few fishing spots around the county.

  • I must say, that mud doesn't look too "clean". Does it smell?

  • @bobbisax No it looks worse than it is. It's just pure mud. Even I wasn't sure at first but you get used to it quick.

  • you would do alot better if you place the pump directly over the hole not on an angle but great vid:)
