Wow! Chole is an amazing singer. It is incredible to see how her voice has developed over the years especially when listening to her sing this when she was younger. She's such a beautiful woman and singer.
Do I, Charles ******* take this beautiful, extremely talented, free spirited young woman to be my lawfully wedded wife? YES!!! She can have half of everything except my heart and soul. She already has all of both of them! Yeah it's almost like that lol
@armoredman The Believe CD is out now and has studio material in it, although for some of the songs, I still wish they had just put out the soundtrack from the DVD. The Barnes and Noble special edition Believe CD has two live tracks from the concert ("Smile", and "Green Grow the Rushes").
Chloe has gotten even better then before and she has always been an awesome singer. I like the all very much, but Chloe has the most awesome voice and personality of them all. Even though I have never been able to go see them, I watch them on here all the time. I have already ordered this dvd and can't wait to get it.
I'm not too much a fan of this, sadly. I love the piece, but that pop scoop is obvious. Sticking so strictly to parts of the style, yet ignoring others is a dichotomy that falls unlovely on the ears.
Ok listen up...stop all of the negative talk in this post...it's supposed to be for those who actually have something nice to say not to start bashing on everyone who doesn't agree with you...so keep your negative comments to yourself and out of these posts
Chloe sings in English, Irish, Latin, Italian and German. Such an awesome voice. I have listened to this concert so many times, I lost count. I come here when I want to relax, for Chloe brings joy to ones heart with that voice & her whole personality.....God Bless you Chloe...Love ya
@fairies633 Nope, the choir actually helped fill it out a bit. They didn't intrude on Chloe's performance at all, as they blend in well when they are singing. I actually missed the choir a little when she did this with the Colorado Symphony, although it was still an excellent performance.
@1sorryham Well I think it that would sound better without them. Her singing is enough and I feel like they take away from it. A simple stage would have been better for this performance.
While I agree that she sings beautifully by herself, the choir complimented her voice. Chloe's voice is so grand that a choir doesn't intrude upon it, so I wouldn't say that they ruined it.
First of all, I will not "stfu". Second of all, the largest portion of the choir is made up of children. Of course they aren't as good as the professionals, but I think they were pretty damn good considering they are ages 8-10.
@opaldreamsofpeace First of all, you're an idiot. Seccond of all shut the hell up and mind your own damn business. They sucked point blank, if you don't like my opinion you don't have to listen to it. I really could care less so pull it out of your ass.
What the hell is your problem? You are the one who cares enough about my opinion to reply to it in the first place. If you think the choir sucked that's your business. Just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean I'm an idiot. Telling someone to 'pull it out of their ass' is quite immature, and now I understand why you can't appreciate the fact that they did well for their age. You are immature and lack the mental capacity to appreciate good music. Have a nice day.
@opaldreamsofpeace Didn't you reply to my opinion bitch? Ok then. I have my opinion and you have yours so why are you all up in my business? Yes I'm immature..just ike your mother, but atleast I'm having fun and not trying to sound like a smart ass on the internet. Get the hell over yourself buddy. I know good music and I have no problem whatsoever with the song MORON! Pull it out of your ass. You dirty piece of illiterate SHIT! Learn how to read. :) thanks
Yeah, I replied to it, because you replied to mine. I am not all up in your business. You are the one getting defensive because I chose to express my opinion in a reply to yours. Did you really just say 'like your mother'? Immaturity at its finest. You are trying to sound like a smartass on the internet, otherwise you wouldn't be replying. I also know good music, and I never said you had a problem with the song. Also, if I don't know how the read, how am I typing?
@opaldreamsofpeace Stop contradicting yourself. If you're going to argue atleast make sure you make sense. Is "immature" the only word in your vocabulary? Probably, since it seems to describe you. Atleast try to come up with an original comment and not repeat everything I say. FYI you did say that...and I quote, "You are immature and lack the mental capacity to appreciate good music." tsk tsk stop embarassing your self. You can type without knowing how to read.
Please, tell me how I contradicted myself. You say that I am 'immature', yet I seem to be the only one who isn't getting defensive about someone else's opinions. Since you don't want to drop this and leave it alone, I am done with you. You aren't worth my time, so I'm just going to report you for being the troll that you are. I was trying to have a mature conversation, and she got all defensive. Also, if someone is going to reply to me, I will reply back. That's just a fact you'll have to accept. I am not the immature child in the conversation. If anyone is immature it's her. Finally, I am not a troll. I was talking to her, not you. Nice try though.

@TheSuperHeros2 ..Ave Maria is a popular and much-recorded setting of the Latin text Ave Maria, originally published in 1853.Written by J.S. Bach some 137 years earlier.
@thetimelesswonders Bach didn't write an Ave Maria, he wasn't Catholic. He wrote a prelude for "The Well-Tempered Clavier" that was later used by Gounod to write the "Gounod/Bach Ave Maria". The song in this video was written by Franz Schubert and was called "Ellens dritter Gesang". Later the original Schubert words were replaced by the Latin Ave Maria by persons unknown. No one is certain, but it is thought the prayer was written by monks.
I heard this live last Wednesday night in Denver during Celtic Woman's Christmas Symphony tour performance. Despite recovering from a fever, Chloe absolutely nailed this song! With the symphony orchestra backing her rather than a choir, it was a little different, but was still both powerful and incredibly beautiful. She got a standing ovation for it, and rightly so.

I agree ghosthelper100. That would be a phenomenal night. This is not an easy piece of music and to sing it in its original language that perfectly is absolutely amazing.
This is truly beautiful. If anyone doesn't appreciate music just listen to Chloe! Justin Bieber looks like a talentless little boy compared to these strong women.
i just saw their xmas tour on sunday and chole sang this!!! hearing it live is one of the most moving things ever!!! when she hit the one note at like 3:55 i was brought to tears!!! she got a will desivered standing O!! when i was returning to my seat i was shaking, ive never been so moved by anything like that!!!!
I absolutely love her voice when she sings this song, I know all of heaven stands still whenever she sings this song and all the angels are her back up singing ooh's and aah's; it is a beautiful piece for a beautiful person
Wow, so many music scholars.....im impressed, really i am, now, until you post you version of this timless classic, be quiet. Did'nt your mother tell you, "if you don't have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut". I doubt The Holy Mother is as persnickety..............
This is such a beautiful and amazing song and just....wow!! I cannot believe how talented she is and she is only in her early 20s. I could listen to her voice all day!! This sounded so pretty!!
@HeidelbergSoprano SCOOPS? I only know of scoops of ice cream and 'scoop neck' on a shirt when a babe wants to show more boob. As far as Chloe's voice 'scooping'? Scoop baby, scoop! I love scoops!
@HeidelbergSoprano I've listened to the song again very carefully and, to my admittedly untrained ear, I just don't hear those extra 'out of key notes'. I hear her voice strengthening during some notes, but always on the same note. Every note seems to be hit 'spot on'. to me. Maybe at the beginning of a couple of 'Aves' her voice slides up a bit, but a couple of notes out of hundreds seems like a pretty good track record. Thanks for explaining 'scooping' though.
@HeidelbergSoprano If by scoops you're referring to the vibrato she's using.. that is used to stay in pitch which is quite hard if you're singing by yourself and you have no one else to compare to. She used vibrato the correct way.
@lightningchaser93 So true, maintaining pitch for voice and most wind instruments is difficult when singing or playing alone. Vibrato is the correct way to maintain one's pitch. As you say, Chloe does this correctly.
I completely agree. I don't even know what the hell 'scoops' are. For once someone actually seems to know what the heck they're talking about. Thank you!
:) This is somewhat off topic, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed how she sings this song with so much respect. She doesn't make unnecessary facial expressions or anything...
@lightningchaser93 Watch her anytime she sings a classical standard...she does the same every time. It's where she started if I remember correctly so it makes sense. That and this song is HARD so she's probably concentrating at least a little bit on it ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@kelceejofarra Her voice is lovely but she butchered the composition by adding the pop singing scooping which is self indulgent not exactly going for the feel Schubert intended which was singing for the Lord...
Could you maybe just let me enjoy the song instead of pointing out what Schubert intended? I think it sounds pretty, so for right now I honestly just don't care if she butchered the composition. I like the sound of her voice, and I think the song sounded pretty. I appreciate your extensive knowledge of the compositions of timeless songs, but I'd really rather enjoy the music without pointing out the negative. Thank you.
@ghosthelper100 Hmm, a reunion of all the past and present members... Have to be done in Ireland and needs to be a multi-night, I'd say three nights, so call it Celtic Woman-TRIUMPHANT... The logistics would be daunting. Weather would be a factor 'cause we need another outdoor performance. David Downes would drop dead at the thought of writing whole new arrangements and...
Wait a sec, why am I listing all the negatives? DO IT!!!
I loved Chloe singing this at age 15. A superlative rendition! But now, 7 years later she has surpassed all my expectations of what her voice would be like all grown up. I'm blessed to have been along for the ride if only by attending live performances and watching the videos. Thanks to all the Celtic Woman performers bot past and present. Been a heck of a ride! Looking forward to the next 7 years...

@lightningchaser93 Watch her anytime she sings a classical standard...she does the same every time. It's where she started if I remember correctly so it makes sense. That and this song is HARD so she's probably concentrating at least a little bit on it ;)

@kelceejofarra Her voice is lovely but she butchered the composition by adding the pop singing scooping which is self indulgent not exactly going for the feel Schubert intended which was singing for the Lord...

@HeidelbergSoprano
Thank you.

@eienism
I'm an atheist. But I recognize beauty and fantastic music when I see and hear it.
I was brought to tears by this piece.
Don't discriminate.

@kelceejofarra They might have been bullied by sopranos when they were kids.

I think they should have an entire reunion to bring all of the women back!!!
ghosthelper100 2 months ago 41
@ghosthelper100 Hmm, a reunion of all the past and present members... Have to be done in Ireland and needs to be a multi-night, I'd say three nights, so call it Celtic Woman-TRIUMPHANT... The logistics would be daunting. Weather would be a factor 'cause we need another outdoor performance. David Downes would drop dead at the thought of writing whole new arrangements and...
Wait a sec, why am I listing all the negatives? DO IT!!!

I didn't like the version of this song when she did it in their first special, but I do like it now.

she trills her Rs much better now. When she sang Bach's Ave Maria at age 14/15, she just flipped the r's, but here she's trilling them. =)
