It could have had kids nearby and wanted the tigers out of there, not feeling comfortable with carnivores near its young. How would you feel about having tigers in your home? Besides, judging by how easily the gibbon could elude those cubs while also constantly attacking them, I doubt they could catch it to save their lives.
