This game has a lot of potential, but in my opinion nexon need to work on their public image. Maple story certaintly was like that and it could stand to be improved (Original storyline quests for each class? (which they are starting to to do), and some of it has been improved, though its still mostly killing stuff. If they ever make a maple story two, lets hope they learn from their mistakes.
If you ask me, the game gets much better once you reach level 30. Cause then you get a job advancement, and certain classes will give you job advancement quests that have story lines and such. I think the best story line out of all of the classes though is the Evan. Second best storyline to me is the Resistance.
well....I understand your point about spending real money and I know its pretty hard to keep your character look nice but for me it was cheaper to play this game for 4 years when I was back in middle school then playing WOW for 4 years... I spent what...50 US dollars for 4 years? that wasn't THAT bad I don't think.

Cirrus Btw Maple used to be way better UNTIL nexon bought it and included the nexon cash system on different outfits. Maple however was not as repetitive and had many other opcions since you would kill different mobs be sent to different places and also you could be working together with your friends to do so. Maybe and i agree w/ you it isn't the best game, but you said anything that embraces the community can't be half bad and here you can make guilds to be updated about what the other ppl do!

I agree 100% with this review, this game is horseshit! Combat is tedious and boooooooring plus it's just an excuse for people to spend real money on virtual items that expire!
The NX Cash is totally useless. It's just for extra clothing that increase no stats whatsoever. Sure, they have Gachapon tickets that is like the lottery but with Maple items, and the Skills, but I haven't bought a single dime of NX and I'm okay. The quests are for earlier levels to actually level up, and there's also job quests to help you get more skills. But I agree on the grinding; higher levels require hours upon hours of fighting to level.
Also me playing over a year with 3 lvl 7x and a lvl 12x I NEVER spent real money on this game, im not going to either also when you play other online games (such as Halo CoD) you have to PAY just to play the game, not to mention sometime you have to buy a gaming console, I rather play this game for free and save the rest of my money for something important.
It's not fair for to make a review when you never even made it over 21 when you start pqing and training on various maps, the game is a bit repetetive until lvl 20 because until then you can only train at pigs and do quests, once you are lvl 30+ you get to explore new maps fight high level monsters and BOSSES. Also then you can start making money from drops, and with the money buy better equips for hunting monsters easier and faster exp. So instead of giving MS 2/5 i'll give your review a 1.
I, being a MapleStory player, say you didn't cover the whole game. You left out buddying, merching, the MTS, and lots of other things. Although you are right, MapleStory is just a shitload of grinding. Good job on the review.
Well your rewiev sounds like you have never been over level 20 but im not sure with that. The only thing that I really dont think is true is that you only kill things. Theres alot of stuff to do like merching, simply exploring or quests with an actual story behind them.
Also, to me you never need to spend money on the game since you can just buy nx from other players.

@YulinItsutsu Also eventually you can get an ability that allows you to craft and upgrade your own items with gems such as diamonds topaz, etc. I believe its called the maker skill. And besides the numerous quest wether to grind or to quest or to simple Party quest with your firnds is up to you. I've played this game for some while already got like 5 acc to lv 50 watch the only thing i know vid and regreted it and now i no longer play the game.
But serously i get the point most of the things we do don't have MUCH cutscenes or that kinda crap like Mabinogi but killing monsters is just too addicting.

You dont look like a begger like this guy says...If you play th game for more then ten minutes you will see that you get many equipment that will make you look cooler and stronger....it is repetitive but not in a bad way like this guy tells you, 43 pigs is nothing like 43 pigs come on!!! im on a quest that i have to kill 600 penguin soldiers and its not a big of a problem manly becuase evrything is easy to kill if you are in the same level or above its easy to use and fun if your in to 2D games.

It's not just holding down a button anymore, and for the progression the main goal of the game is to progress to level 200 and finish the storyline, and like Ital890 said its easier even though it still is repetative.
It was great before nexon bought wizen and jacked it up. That was ages ago. Honeslt maplestory is nothing like it was from the start. I tallied it up, overall I spent more than200 bucks on that. At least you can keep your stuff in Mabinogi.

I quit playing this back when I was 11, I'm 14 now and I play games like WoW, and League of legends with actual progression, and I really enjoyed raiding and role playing something non-existent in maple story. I tried to replay this game with my brother a few weeks ago I couldn't stand a day of it, my little brother plays it with his Korean friend. This is when I noticed the game is for the younger anime loving crowd. I don't hate it but I feel so stupid for playing it when I was younger.
I didn't really like this review as much as his others. It sounded like he was angry at this game from the start, which negatively affected his judgement!
I have to admit, even though I am one of those "Maple FanGIRLS" you mentioned, everything you said was true. I don't play maple anymore because I can't seem to get past level 25, and boy, it gets really boring. Or maybe I'm just a noob. -_-
First of all, the game is free. completely free, paying money is an option, they would never force you to pay anything to play it.
Second, the reason why you're not hitting like anything is because you're a noob. The point of Maplestory is to have fun and make friends, while hanging out at the same time not killing monsters to level up to kill more, you're completely ignorant.
@FierceSpears I don't hate this game and neither does he, it was my first MMo, and most likely his first as well. When I look back I remember watching Naruto, and playing maple story, I look back and wonder how that amused me. The only anime I never regretted watching is DragonballZ, it's fine as you have fun, but aside from the younger and more anime orientated audience we see this game has no clear progression and grew to resent it. I'm happy my little brother is having fun with it.
@FierceSpears and to be honest look at any other MMo, even F2PMMoRPGs have a much lower selection of pay for items. The game is mainly a social game, but thats fine. I find playing WoW on vent with my ten man raiding guild trying to down Sindragosa as a better social more cooperative experience. But the game is not base on skill or progression, it is a grind fest and socializing MMo, with a strong amount of peer pressure aimed towards buying NX items.

Forgot to mention you can play without just having to quest or level, i think this is the best game to hang around with friends and do stupid stuff just for the heck of it. BTW, real married couples have met in this, which ive seen, this game has hell alot of couples compared to other games.
Most quest are pretty stupid, there are starting to make better quest but it still is REALLY repetitive. If nexon was less selfish with all their shit, it would be a MUCH better 9.5/10 game.

Maplestory sucks. I became a thief, but I spent points in skills that were bad for me before I knew what I was doing. I found out you could spend real money to change them to fix it all, but I quit because it wasn't worth it.

It's not fair for to make a review when you never even made it over 21 when you start pqing and training on various maps, the game is a bit repetetive until lvl 20 because until then you can only train at pigs and do quests, once you are lvl 30+ you get to explore new maps fight high level monsters and BOSSES. Also then you can start making money from drops, and with the money buy better equips for hunting monsters easier and faster exp. So instead of giving MS 2/5 i'll give your review a 1.

I, being a MapleStory player, say you didn't cover the whole game. You left out buddying, merching, the MTS, and lots of other things. Although you are right, MapleStory is just a shitload of grinding. Good job on the review.

Well your rewiev sounds like you have never been over level 20 but im not sure with that. The only thing that I really dont think is true is that you only kill things. Theres alot of stuff to do like merching, simply exploring or quests with an actual story behind them.
Also, to me you never need to spend money on the game since you can just buy nx from other players.

Honestly, after Big Bang, it becomes better (No 2x EXP Cards and in new worlds, using gachapon won't really give you the mayor advantage it always gave you).

@YulinItsutsu Also eventually you can get an ability that allows you to craft and upgrade your own items with gems such as diamonds topaz, etc. I believe its called the maker skill. And besides the numerous quest wether to grind or to quest or to simple Party quest with your firnds is up to you. I've played this game for some while already got like 5 acc to lv 50 watch the only thing i know vid and regreted it and now i no longer play the game.

You dont look like a begger like this guy says...If you play th game for more then ten minutes you will see that you get many equipment that will make you look cooler and stronger....it is repetitive but not in a bad way like this guy tells you, 43 pigs is nothing like 43 pigs come on!!! im on a quest that i have to kill 600 penguin soldiers and its not a big of a problem manly becuase evrything is easy to kill if you are in the same level or above its easy to use and fun if your in to 2D games.

@Gouled96 And how you said it doesn't progress or require skill, it requires control of your character, for example the class Aran. It's not just holding down a button anymore, and for the progression the main goal of the game is to progress to level 200 and finish the storyline, and like Ital890 said its easier even though it still is repetative.

It was great before nexon bought wizen and jacked it up. That was ages ago. Honeslt maplestory is nothing like it was from the start. I tallied it up, overall I spent more than200 bucks on that. At least you can keep your stuff in Mabinogi.

I quit playing this back when I was 11, I'm 14 now and I play games like WoW, and League of legends with actual progression, and I really enjoyed raiding and role playing something non-existent in maple story. I tried to replay this game with my brother a few weeks ago I couldn't stand a day of it, my little brother plays it with his Korean friend. This is when I noticed the game is for the younger anime loving crowd. I don't hate it but I feel so stupid for playing it when I was younger.

First of all, the game is free. completely free, paying money is an option, they would never force you to pay anything to play it.
Second, the reason why you're not hitting like anything is because you're a noob. The point of Maplestory is to have fun and make friends, while hanging out at the same time not killing monsters to level up to kill more, you're completely ignorant.

@FierceSpears I don't hate this game and neither does he, it was my first MMo, and most likely his first as well. When I look back I remember watching Naruto, and playing maple story, I look back and wonder how that amused me. The only anime I never regretted watching is DragonballZ, it's fine as you have fun, but aside from the younger and more anime orientated audience we see this game has no clear progression and grew to resent it. I'm happy my little brother is having fun with it.

@FierceSpears and to be honest look at any other MMo, even F2PMMoRPGs have a much lower selection of pay for items. The game is mainly a social game, but thats fine. I find playing WoW on vent with my ten man raiding guild trying to down Sindragosa as a better social more cooperative experience. But the game is not base on skill or progression, it is a grind fest and socializing MMo, with a strong amount of peer pressure aimed towards buying NX items.

Forgot to mention you can play without just having to quest or level, i think this is the best game to hang around with friends and do stupid stuff just for the heck of it. BTW, real married couples have met in this, which ive seen, this game has hell alot of couples compared to other games.

Most quest are pretty stupid, there are starting to make better quest but it still is REALLY repetitive. If nexon was less selfish with all their shit, it would be a MUCH better 9.5/10 game.

I never really liked maple story either, good job on doing this, I liked the video.
The only thing I like about maple story is the sprites and the music, and of course the private servers and animations.

Maplestory sucks. I became a thief, but I spent points in skills that were bad for me before I knew what I was doing. I found out you could spend real money to change them to fix it all, but I quit because it wasn't worth it.
