  • I get the feeling Che wasn't a big fan of Eva Peron.

  • Voice of Puss from Puss in Boots right there.

  • Voice of Puss in Boots right there.

  • Difference between this and Kim Jong-il's? No one was faking it at Eva's... C;

  • Outside the Casa Rossada crying "Eva Peron"

    My FAVOURITE line

  • Oh, my God. Antonio Banderas. Yes.

  • *Perón

  • Love Evá Peron :) obsessed with her life!

  • I see this show visiting the USA...very soon. The ending won't be the televised.

  • I just love the way he says "Peron"! c: <3

  • Anyone else reminded of Kim jong ils funeral?

  • Antonio Banderas is gorgeous...he sings, he acts, he makes our girl friends hot in the theater,,,,what does one need?

  • I just LOVE this performance...English and Latin lyrics. Very moving. For this reason alone I was compelled to travel to BA and visit the Duarte-Peron family tomb in Recoleta. I can not really explain it... But... I just had to go and see Eva's Argentina.

However, it seems times have changed and BA is no longer stuck in the 1940's. It is very much a modern 21st century city. Bustling with tourist and all kinds of human activity.

Oh well, Eva, I hardly knew ya, but miss you anyway.

  • man he's effing hot

  • Evita was young woman that died of cancer and in her short years embarrassed many Mano individuals.

  • Oops my mistake, I thought I was responding to bweber2k, sorry about that. That is the face of the USA that the rest of the world sees, a self-centred, self-interested, blind-folded view of the world. Perhaps not your own reality but that is how the USA presents itself to the rest of us. What do you mean by studying for a test? I am a huge fan, no offence to you, my mistake, but the rest of the world sees America as short-sighted, not just me but the other 7 billion people that live here.

  • Antonio was the BEST in this movie! <3

  • Aaaaa perfection!

  • Awesome job.I really liked it.

  • Wow is why I don't visit south of the border...and keep my guns ready for those creeping up in a world I I've come to enjoy as a free man.

  • @bweber2k Well, you must be one of those ignorant, self-interested, know-nothing, gun-toting, "the world begins and ends at our borders" dumb yanks.

  • Love you Antonio! :D

  • In the original musical the character was Che Guevara but in the movie version Bandera's Che was an Everyman narrator. The sobriquet "Che" is also equivalent to "man" or "dude" in Argentina.

  • @victorbrunswick Actually "Che" it's like saying "Hey!". That's how we call people. "Che pibe!" = "Hey dude!"

  • Like this if u prefer this to david essex!

  • i'm not a fan of any specific music, but i'm a fan of good music

  • many people love the sarcasm in the beginning, buti don't get it? can someone explain it to me, cuz he does not sound sarcastic at all, i understand what he is sarcastic about, but it just doesnt fit. the place I love, is the rock part, i think it is probably the best from it's time, but i still think it is awesome!

  • @drakili1 Antonia Banderas' character is a representation of Che Guevara (supposedly), who belonged to and was a rabid anti-peronist.

  • @SgtMjAlex yes... i know that...

  • @SgtMjAlex There was no direct connection with Che Guevara and Evita, he is used as a metaphor. The true revolutionist and the pretenders.

  • @drakili1 It is not sarcasm, this is the beginning of the story. He is saying that she was hailed as a saint because of her actions, but the underlying story was that she was a woman with a bg chip on her shoulder because she was in the oppressed class of Argentine society, her father had two families, a middle class family and the "other" family that was hers. The whole point of the story was that she was from the other side of the blanket and used her position to take revenge.

  • @hmbaily first, i already knew that, second my test on evita has already been two-three weeks ago, so i don't need to know now :P

  • Comment removed

  • @hmbaily dude, wtf?! what the hell is wrong with you? going around calling people Dumb Yanks, and saying that everyone hates them?! that is sick, seriously! my comment has been there for a long time and i appreciated (pressure on D cuz your now pissing me off) that you answered, but not in that way. and also, i liked Evita, there is a reason i watched this song a long time, and actually studied for the test, which i usually dont do, so i am not some narrow-minded Dumb Yank, you jackass!

  • @drakili1 I posted an explanation to you, hope you have read it an taken it in.

  • Comment removed

  • @hmbaily i did, and be sure to answer to the correct person next time, and you can also delete comments if you didnt already know, so you wont have to comments standing around :P , just giving you a tip :) (and the thing about test, was some side-information, that was to no use at all :P ) and also sorry abour raging on you, i just dont like people who randomly calls me something without no warning what so ever : /

  • no offence, but it does more look like the girl in the end is laughing than crying... well at least like she is trying VERY hard to try to cry :P

  • @drakili1 That is Eva at the funeral of her father, she is hysterical but not allowed to be seen by the respectable people of the middle class at her father's funeral. That is a crucial part of the story and the driving force behind her own actions when she achieved the position as wife of the President.

  • all i c is puss in boots singing.

  • I just recently saw this movie for the first time. I am now convinced that Antonio Banderas is the best Latin actor/singer/badass EVER.

  • The guitar work is brilliant.

  • They'e speaking latin

  • wow Antonio you are a great singer! te deseo Exito! Dios te Bendiga!

  • 7 people missed the like button...

  • *Sight* Hmmmm Antonio,Will you marry me???

  • God! Antonio is SOOOO hott when he's bitter!!!!!

  • I didn't realise Antonio Banderas was such a great singer. And Jonothan Pryce was brilliant as well

  • Comment removed

  • have just read two biographies of Evita... the more critical was the basis for this film... the other was more objective..

  • Why does this song make me think of Cobh Heritage Centre in Ireland?! Titanic had nothing to do with Evite - I don't think!

  • What's the purpose of showing the people all dancing. Does it mean something?

  • @lilhein15 I am guessing it means mourning the lass of eva peron

  • He sings really good

  • This is a literal hatchet job, cutting the best lyrics in the song: "Ride on my train all my people and when it's your turn to die you'll remember, they fired those cannons, sang lamentation, not just for Eva, for Argentina, not just for Eva, for everybody." Great false modesty and rich irony and true universal identification with mourning all rolled up in one. How do you cut lines like that and cut the heart and soul of the song? To save 20 seconds?

  • @dvid171 Agree.....!!

  • She's not coming, back to YooOoouuuu!

  • banderas killed the song

  • evita eres, sos y seras siempre grande!!!!!!

  • 5 people are very big clowns...

  • i dont normally post comments but i dont think some of you realise that Che is a character they've used to voice another opinion/side of Eva Peron. Most people loved her but there are some people who believed/believe she did nothing worth while and basically, whored herself up the ranks. Evita is the voice which potrays her good side while Che potrays the controversial/bad side of her.

  • this is reason why my daughter name is Evita :)

  • Thumbs up if you love Che and agree with his views about Evita!!!

  • @MultiBelle22 I cant agree with his views BUT respect his right to have then. I am not calling Eva a saint but she did do good things for her people. . What did HE do.

  • @rockinrobintweets she did good i agree and she was very good but the reason che dosnt like her is because she promised them that she was imortal and she would help them throughout everything but now she is dead they have nothing to beleive in anymore, they wont like there goverment anymore and then they will begin the rioting and stuff :S

  • @ElysiaJessica123 More like they WANTED her to be imortal. No one can live up to the mindset a people have of thier heroe.....impossable to do. Plus the fact that she died at the young age of 33.

  • @rockinrobintweets I know its a great shame i liked her :) but thats why i thought che didnt like her :S

  • @rockinrobintweets What could he do? He was one of the poor people of Argentina that she ought to have helped but didn't! Plus, Che Guevara - who this Che is based one; even said to be by some fans - did a lot for people who needed it!

  • @MultiBelle22 Maybe she didnt help him personaly BUT it dosent change the fact she DID help many many poor people of her country. Did / could she help EVERY poor person personaly.....not possable for a woman in her country at her time, time period AND gender HAS to be considered for historical and political fairness.

  • gotta love him when he rolls the "r" in Casa Rosada! Banderas did an excellent job here, amazing actor and performer!

  • I love Evita and appreciate her good deeds for the Agentine people but I hate those who is or was against her.

I love maddona and Antonio bandaras they r good. To hail with those who hate this three characters .

  • Antonio Banderas is the best thing of the whole film! He's a superb singer/actor!

  • Antonio I LOVE you xxx

  • Madonna and Antonio really complemented each other here,.. it's like, they didn't know the existence of each other but they exist for each other..( LOL..)

  • My Fav. Song !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • antonio is a great singer, he does a very good job in this movie, love his sarcasm!!!

  • @WhiteRebeldeAngel He was awesome in it!

  • class song

  • Krásné

  • I have enjoyed this song ever since the movie back in 96. Antonio has some great pipes. I really enjoy the guitar.

  • the casa rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrosada

  • My school is doing this for our musical this year x) Go wexford :D

  • I dont know how many people doesnt realise that Peron was one of the most fascist men ever , just look the soldiers uniforms , the economic policy , and the relation with the population .

  • @UCN2027 Paron, was a killer. A very evil person.

  • @rubblemp Peron!!!!

  • most good looking actors have a great voice. Antonio Bateras, Johnny Depp, Gerard butler, Jensen Ackles...

  • @SweetDeath777 Who's Jensen Ackles? I've never heard of him.

  • @VanitasxAura the guy who plays in Supernatural. A tv show. it's about 2 brothers who fight ghosts, demons and monsters in general It's very good. =)

  • am i the only one who notices that he never says Why the exception to the rule?

    Opportunist? Traitor? Fool?

Or just a man who grew and saw

    From seventeen to twenty-four

    His country bled, crucified?

is this a differnt version or something?

  • @mediabusybee

Yeah, I wish they left that verse in the movie too. But that verse wasn't in the original version of Evita, it was only added when the show debuted on Broadway, IIRC.

  • Watch the Fan in the background:)

  • i love antonio bañderas in this movie

  • I love how sarcastic he is at the start.

  • love it:)

  • love this song and movie...

  • PUSS !!!

  • Is it just me or does this guy look a bit like jeroen Krabbe?

  • This movie is nice but distorts a lot what really happen and Evita`s work. It`s a shame because most people of the word had the image of Evita that this movie give them . She and Peron was vital in Argentina history and marks the beginning of the workers rights. She was an increddible strong woman full of ideals living to far advanced to her era.

  • @Hercho22 movies are never fully true :/ but if anyone wants to find out the truth they can go find out in this information overload era, me, personally never got over tom bombadil not being in the start of the lotr movie...

  • @zaazi123 jajaa got ure point.

  • i was surprised when i noticed how good antonio banderas can sing !

  • amazing!

  • Talking to a painting? Alright. He's crazy.

  • I watched this one part in World Geography. I love it! New favorite song.

  • i just hear puss in boots now , and i used to love this vid

  • reminds me of the 2001 crisis i hate peron ..ruined the country..but evita was the first woman in the power .clarify im not peronista

  • awsome song luvv it luvv dah film luvv this man

  • ymm

  • @danning1 I completely agree! His performance was excellent!

  • because its awsome like this my fav film reminds me of my grandma xxx

  • Not enough credit is given to Jonathan Pryce. He was really good as Juan Perón.

  • @danning1 Aside from the scenery, costumes, photography - the only reasons I watch this film is because of Jonathan Pryce and Antonio Banderas. I honestly didn't care for Madonna as Evita. They could have picked better.

  • @EmilyGreene1984 funny due to the fact she was in it alone made the bock office billions so guess your wrong about that

  • @worksoplads That's your opinion and all opinions are subjective.

  • @EmilyGreene1984 yes and proof that top directors chose her for the part out of everyone available to play that part is something on its own and the fact that it was one of the biggest films that year is another i m basing my opinion on facts and evidence whats yours based on ??????????

  • I think the same

  • this is my favorite song in the movie because of Antonio Banderas.

  • @dreamgirlz96 What were you then? 14?

  • I love how Banderas' accent is going crazy sometimes in this song xD

  • They should have buried Madonna.

  • @DrFlaxWebFLOO Agreed! XD

  • @darklordmacavity Incorrect

  • This Che doesn't hold a candle to Mandy Patinkan.

  • @darklordmacavity I think BOTH did a great job in their interpretations. I'm not making any comparisons. Both Mandy and Antonio have great voices and throw themselves into their characters with gusto.

  • Toll

  • Great watching ! I could not do that while listening to that great music! Sorry sod!

  • 5:06 you can see madonna breathe inside the coffin, you can just see the chest rise and fall a little bit

  • @Romanimusician so what people need to breathe.

  • smae melody as don't cry for argentina

  • She was nice and all but she was populist and a social resented

  • Haha you can see the fan in the backgroound slow/fast/slow on the different cuts :'D I love Antonio <3

  • i love

  • love it

  • This is one of my favorite parts of evita! augh no words describe how great this is!

  • me encanta esa canciòn

  • very poor audio

  • @countrywillneverdie SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong...it was cancer!!!!!!I knew that in 7th grade!!!!

  • @countrywillneverdie how's that ironic anyway?

  • I am Argentine and this happens again

  • This is a really nice song...I actually like it!

  • it's actually a good thing she died at a young age cuz she was ruining the country's economy with her foundation, but she did good before she died. so it was actually at the perfect timing, she had her publicity and didn't do much damage to the economy yet.

  • i dont get why the caribbean music though.

  • @machingan It's not Carribbean, it's Latin.

  • @PippinRally its caribbean, im argentinian and we dont listen to that music, thanks.

  • @machingan You don't? Oh!

  • GIVE US BROADWAY LOVERS A BREAK....the reasons why you battled this out is because it was not only one youtube but because Andrew Loud Webby did it!

  • im doing EVITA for my play in febuary

  • This is my favorite song in the musical! I don't know what but it's edginess captures me.

  • i'm confused, it seems as though eva, and che had "something going on"between them two he seems really upset in this song, like she let him down, and i know that's how it's supposed to seem because they needed her, but he didn't think that she did alot for them, so why does he care so much? it seem she let him down personally.

  • also the song they sing when they dance after she gets sick....to me it seems, they fell in love, but this theory seems, also ridiculous...but i can't help thinking it everytime i see this movie!

  • @TeamEmmett25Natalie "Che" in all forms of the musical was dreamt up to be a kind of Greek Chorus offering a narration and backdrop to us, the audience. He represents the grief, the suspicion, the anger, the love, the gratitude, the everything of the Argentinian population, a necessary window when you consider the difference in time and in culture between the audience and the people in the musical.

  • his facial expressions add so much to his performance! this movie is amazing, everytime it gets to the end i rewind it to the beginning and watch it again!

  • One kind of wonderful funeral for Superstars...

And somehow maybe greater than Elvis or MJ's.

  • Simply put, next to Lord of the Rings, this has to be the most beautifully made film I've seen during my lifetime.

  • @humanistbanana nope not a troll, and I consider myself to be quite culturally aware.

  • @humanistbanana why do you think ANYONE called Che is automatically Guevara.? Ernesto Guevara was called 'che' because of Argentinian's idiosyncratic (and utterly charming) accent when speaking spanish. Therefore, to most spanish speakers 'che' is someone from Argentina. Hence in Evita the Che is an 'everyman' . a commentator, the narrator if you will. This musical was written by two VERY conservative englishmen.

  • @dariogneri Not to be rude, but I think it's quite clear that Che in the stage musical is supposed to be Che Guevara. In 'Oh What A Circus' he sings "Or just a man who grew and saw / From seventeen to twenty-four." It should be noted that this line was removed from the movie, because Movie Che is not supposed to be Che Guevara.

  • @sassylash3s

Che Guevara was 17 when Peron was elected president and then 24 when Eva died. Surely this was not a coincidence. Besides, his original costume seems to be a pretty obvious reference as well.

  • @sassylash3s thank you for not being rude. And if i am wrong then thank you for educating me.

  • I hate the way they were able to create an image of Evita showing only rumors the ones who hated her made up, making up a hideus power hungry bitch when se did so much for the country.

But I specially hate that some people think they have the right to show their opinion on people they don't know shit about and distort the image of someone so many loved so much. This movie, made by people from the USA, telling a story they barely knew is like argentinians making a movie showing Lady Di as a whore

  • @mnemosneme I can understand why you're upset about how Eva is portrayed, but it's not really fair to blame Americans--Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber are both British.

  • since the shrek movies i always see puss in boots when hear banderas speaking oer singin ^^

  • It's my understanding that Che in this movie is not Che Guerverra, but is more modeled after the leader of the chorus in ancient Greek drama.

The role of that person in a play like Evita is to represent the community and tell it like it is--kind of an interpretive role.

I think Che in this play fulfills that role brilliantly in unmasking the Perons.

  • I f'ing love a tango!
