Ha ha, you only listen to Metal, the inferior version of what I listen to - PROGRESSIVE Metal! That means you are inferior to me and my massive intellect. I am not sure what Progressive Metal actually is and why it cannot be called just Metal? But if I put Progressive in front of it, wallah I am instantly better than you because my music is progressive and yours is just plain. Because we know music preference, race and gender are identifiers of worth :) :(
Wow I cant believe I missed the Eye of Baal or eye of Horus or eye of Lucifer not satan because there are over 200 of those angels.Like the movie City of angels with Nichols Cage, where all the black robed angels are watching the sun.The Sun by the way is the main diety in satanic worship ! those are the satanic angels the movie puts a spin on who they really are.By the way Nichols like saint Nick or Nick being another slang name for Satan. Thats how many syncros you'll find in all of this!
@MrEpiclyrandom That's quite true, but I wouldn't quite say that this album was consistently prog, just in bits and pieces. In my opinion, prog rock and heavy metal have always been crossing influences, but they didn't quite finally join to make one unique style until about the mid to late 1980's with bands like Fates, Queensryche (although that's kind of debatable), Watchtower, Dream Theater, and Sieges Even. Prog is more about experimentation and progression than technical wizardry.
@MrEpiclyrandom There is definitely some prog influences here, but I'm not quite sure if it's true prog metal yet. I think that Fates first true prog metal album was Perfect Symmetry, which I consider to be their best album. Awaken is way up there too, probably my second favorite overall.
There was a time period a few years ago when i pretty much worshiped everything John Arch sang. His lyrics are so amazing, and his voice is my favorite. The way he deliver the lines....He is a SUCH badass singer who doesnt get the credit he deserves.
@MrEpiclyrandom I didn't say it needed wankery and 20 minute guitar solos. Prog Metal to me means experimentation in different styles/instrumentation, and unusual melodic structures. Tempo changes and complex rhythms are a dime a dozen in metal.
In this song, I hear very little to set them apart from Sabbath or Maiden. In fact, most of the song sounds like one or the other band.
In any event, I've never heard any of Nevermore's work, and if Mastodon is Prog, I'm the Queen of England.
Distant vision tempting water fall to my knees I'm going to drink it dry. Blazing desert sun reflection on the water He caught my eye Up in a tree looking at me vulture of fear why don't you go away He said you're mine one day Spit out the sand of the mirage Be on your way
@xgreaterbash Picked up the cassette used back in the mid 80s and was blown away. I wish they had toured the west coast with John Arch. Hopefully he'll put another project together. The Twist of Fate album was awesome.
It's 3.40am, and I've got class at 8.30. I can't stop listening to these guys. I'm planning to buy this album, No Exit, and Perfect Symmetry. I've gotta get to bed. :(
If Dream Theater had any fucking integrity they would take these guys on tour with them and tell everyone that Fates warning was the original prog. metal band.
i think this band is underated for one reason everyone in the band is freakin fantastic musicians and lets face it theres alot more popular bands that play easy to learn tripe that peeps can just straight out dance to in other words you dont have to concentrate on the music just get drunk and go "woo party" so bands like fates warning dont get recognised and get ignored by garage bands because the stuffs to hard for them to play and they just wanna get laid lol.anyways great band great song.

False guardian I will compel false as the
fear of heaven and hell
I should have known its all a mirage just as well
The power of good will not be shown by
conquering fear
Let it be known its a constant resist
Til your transformation

Oh guardian predestination calls
Silent wind I felt what you said
Soon I'm exhumed for consummation
He charmed my soul with his book of the dead
He read it said bear no children
They will inhere the dormant fear in man
Sovereign the force more than emotion
It controls your destiny at hand
