Hey man nice vid. That thing is crazy. Im puting together a class 1 buggy kit and it requires electric instead of nitro. I'l be running a 540 27 T motor. Im new to electric as i started out with nitro and have never used electric. So as far as a battery goes im left in the dark. I want this thing to be much like the real sand rails that are able to ride wheelies and they have crazy power.. Any recommendations?
An E Revo with full aluminum parts (not integy), Pro Line Road hawgz tires, 2 3s 8000mah lipos, a mmm esc and a neu-castle 1515 1y is overkill. Still a nice bash vid though :D
no dont listen to anyone there sayin stupid stuff like put weights in your car dont ever do that it will mess with handling and a radio with traction control which ive never heard of would cost a lot im sure. the best thing to do is put heavier diff oil in your diffs
This would make the jumps a lot more worse. I suggest the use of advanced radio features, like the traction control and the abs systems. Or the use of the programmability in the mamba itself to balance the acceleration out.
Understood. I didn't buy this Mamba, it came in the package with the Slash used. I love the fact you can tune it with Castle Link. In fact, I'm taking the laptop to the track tomorrow to "dial it in", lol.
You can adjust the throttle curve, brake curve, punch, brakes, drag brakes, and a few other parameters. You can adjust the throttle control for 2WD limited traction, or 4WD good traction tracks, etc...it really is a great tool. I use it on the Slash and Savage Flux.
I am currently running a 4600 Mamba in my new Slash and love it. Either setup is good, but you'll be able to "tune" the Mamba via a PC and Castle Link. This offers lot's of customization, where all you can do with the VXL is change the gearing.
the slash does land shiny side up most of the time, unlike my bandit/rustler which i finally had to put stampede tires on to keep from flipping it, now when I turn where it would have flipped before, it slides...
You should really enjoy it. When I was thinking about buying one I was concerned about its performance, but now that I've run it I am very satisfied. All I had to do was adjust the suspension and it worked great on the track! I think it was well worth it
I thought I would role mine a lot too, but at the track it was very good, and most of the time if it rolled it just continued til it was back on its wheels, it is a very good truck!
I run 11.1v 3C 5000MAH Lipo on my stock Slash and can do wheelies too. I may burn up eventually but for now I get the horsepower AND better control without spending the 180 extra on a vxl brushless system.
But you have to remember this is on a 3 cell lipo and brushless. The truck is very controllable with the stock setup, or even a brushless and 7 cell nimh. You'll like it.
Yes! 12.6 maximum input voltage. Battery choices are 4 to 9 cell nimh or 2 to 3 cell lipo. A 3-cell lipo usually peaks between 12.2 & 12.4 volts. Hope that was helpful - VelineonRacer
This is all well and good, you know. The Car is stupid fast and seems to be quite responsive, but I have one question. How can you be using a Brush less system if you reversed? I was always under the impression modern brush less systems didn't HAVE reverse.
As far as customizing the throttle/brake etc, the Mamba is better because you can hook it to a PC and adjust certain parameters...the VXL is a no-nonsense non-adjustable system. I'm currently running a dual VXL setup in my E-Revo with no issues.

No, this truck was stock minus the motor and esc, which were VXL...
chadrob30 2 years ago
oh, have you ever had to change the drive shafts? video said VXL+3s lipo snaps the drive shafts.
traxxasslash26 2 years ago
Well I mean the truck is stock. Yes, I run 3 cell lipos in all of my trucks and have never had transmission, driveshaft, or diff issues. :/
chadrob30 2 years ago
oh alright thanks!

im probably one of those rare snapping-driveshaft instances. I now got a set of Integy steel shafts.

if you put heavier weights in the front it will really help it out with the lifting on the front end

What good is all that power? It's Too much. The Velineon is plenty for the Slash. When they go too fast you Can't control them anyways.

Castle gear is far better, but keep in mind you can't run 3S with the 7700kv motor. The 5700KV is the fastest system on 3S.
igottalongone 2 years ago
The Velineon is cheaper priced and holds up much better. That's what I have in my Slash. Stick with Traxxas

Just an FYI some lipo's can get up to 12.8V. Mine max's at 12.6V ant the vVXL motor is beast with a 3cell

From what i know the castle creations have reverse, almost all escs have reverse lockout when they have reverse, for racing.
Littl3TuffGuy13 3 years ago
Almost all brushless speed controls have reverse, and as stated, it's able to be locked out for racing mode.
