Everytime noam mentions nixon as the last liberal president the assembled listeners laugh. I don't think he is joking and that reaction is a litmus for how entrenched in the 'common sense' understanding of polical processes has been defined and accepted from the mainstream media.
@LFWOL Ouch! Damaged brain? The AP of 11-03-01 said Omar agreed to extradite Osama bin Laden to Saudi Arabia in 1998 but reneged following U.S. strikes on Afghanistan that year, a former head of Saudi intelligence said.
Big Bully Uncle Sam does cause resentment.
Have you looked at the photos of nanothermite chips in the Harrit paper? They're too complicated to have happened by chance. Some hijackers were trained in English at US military school in Monetery, according to their teacher!
@LFWOL Alas, that is the difference preventing our agreement on all the rest. Won't buy it, huh?
Niels Harrit's 2009 paper on high-tech, super-explosive nano-thermite spray chips found in all 4 dust samples from 911 is the smoking gun explaining how virtually all the 220 floors of concrete were turned to unusually fine dust, along with the office furniture and people! Electron microscope photos of the chips in the article are unmistakable. Please take a look:
@LFWOL Doesn't it seem the US deliberately set the stage for invading Afghanistan by refusing to even offer its case to Omar? Wasn't 911 what provided the underlying logic of chasing UBL, rather than the Cole? Could it be Omar knew 911 was a false flag stunt by Uncle Sam as did more than 15 countries who tried to warn the US only to behold Uncle Sam wanted it to happen?
@LFWOL Your challenge of Chomsky's statement, "the Taliban was willing to negotiate extradition [of UBL] if there was evidence" calling it "full of crap" is only based on your claim "sources next to UBL claimed responsibility within days after the attack." But UBL did deny responsibility on September 16, 2001.The US refused to supply evidence to the Taliban. Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Zelikow were far more guilty for 911 that UBL, altho, sadly, Chomsky has yet to come aboard on that truth.

Al-Azhar is not a radical university. Sure, it's not Liberal Humanist, but it's not "radical." It doesn't believe in violence; it's not fascist. It's just a traditional religious university. In fact, many Muslims contradict modern Al-Azhar for being a bit sell-out. Not nec true, but it is a common criticism. The radical Muslim movements *hate* traditional Islam, as TI has a laundry list of conditions before violence is allowed. Thus, Azhar has no legitimacy with Osama Bin Laden.
From watching Chomskys interviews and talks he always alludes to communism and its achievements (communist party pre-civil rights movement in this talk) which led me to believe he does sympathize with communism and its Marxist ideals of equality, justice and subscribing to the idea of workers controlling the means of production, land reform and social transformation although he does not leap far in that direction so he does not alienate the population I think... but he tacitly believes it!
@8Marx8 Chomsky is outspokenly an Anarcho-syndicalist which means that the workers should control production, it could be described as a non-authoritarian form of communism.
Anarcho-syndicalists does not belivie in authority an centralized power strutctures, unlike som communist and unlike the belief that all communists do belivie in totolitarism,
Well communism and anarchism are literally the same thing. The difference is that unlike Marxists he doesn't think it's inevitable, nor that socialism must be first.
@Fuctmentality 'libertarian socialism' makes very little sense. You can't have a socialist goverment without concentrated power, and a strong central organization.
@8Marx8 Chomsky portends that real capitalism has never actually been practiced but would work if it was. He also says that the USSR wasn't actually communist.
Whatever "ism" Chomsky thinks is best I have never heard or read him mention any country that has that form of government.
I would say that Chomsky's view is that in spite of massive advantage given to concentrated power, the people of the world are steadily winning more liberties and that is what's important.
What's funny is that he says that US intervention in Iran has no popular support, but WikiLeaks provides evidence that politicians (if not the people) of many countries around the globe would support a US invasion.
you guys watch chomskys interview on BBC it is on you tube amazing watch especially the last part part 3 I think, I would not be surprised if that BBC agent of the state interviewer hated his job and decided to do something else after that interview where Chomsky as usual bashed him...

How is Noam's Chomsky Cayman Island bank account? How does it feel to use tax paradise to avoid paying taxes while getting rich by telling people to pay taxes?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I tried twice (separating words) but YT doesnt let me put a link (someones know hos to?). Google "Noam Chomsky closet capitalist" and you will find an article explaining how he has his money in a fiscal paradise, while telling other people to pay their taxes with emotionally charged arguments.
Hmmm. Interesting article. Published by the Hoover Institute no less. Figures. What else have they got to do but protect their own interests & deflect criticism? They're the most right-wing think tank in existence. I'd take whatever they say with a huge chunk -- not a grain -- of salt.
The article also contains many fallacious claims: i.e. that you have to pay to read or hear Chomsky talk. His talks are ALL over YouTube! Have been for years now.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You just attacked the source, but did not refute the claim that Chomsky is using a Cayman Island account to avoid paying taxes on the money he makes asking people to pay "their fair share". I guess Chomsky is more intelligent than anyone else and can decide for himself what "his fair share" is.
I saw no mention in the article about a Cayman Islands bank account. And why does this automatically mean that he's not paying taxes?
Even if true, you'd be a hypocrite criticizing him for financial dealings in which thousands of your compatriots on the right also engage. Bunch of tax-dodging, flag-waving hypocrites.
Why the personal attack on Chomsky? Obviously you can't engage with Chomsky's ideas or knowledge. Personal attacks are a symptom of our time.
If you can not see that someone asking people to pay their fair share while trying to use tax paradises to avoid paying his is a hypocrite then its your problem not mine.
And just because you asked one of the most idiotic Chomsky ideas is oposition to the division of labor.
So you think that no one should pay taxes? If so, how do you propose the government fund its wars? We live in a perpetual state of war in America. It's been that way for decades.
And again: Why would you criticize Chomsky for doing the same financial tricks that the wealthy have engaged in for decades? Don't you appprove of tax havens for the rich? Isn't that your idea of good capitalism? "Hooray for me! Fuck y'all!"
Also, there is no mention of the Cayman Islands in that article. None.
You possess no other logic or reply to answer chomskys facts and documented realities so you resort to villifying and personal attacks to undermine his credibility and marginalize the argument that you so fail to respond to! Ignorant biased blinded indoctrinated right winger is all you are! With utmost ignorance I should add!! Go learn your history before you comment on Chomsky's!
Near the very end of the Q and A Chomsky said no one has a magic key to accomplish the social transformation. Wrong. I do. I'm the guy with the key. I should have shouted that out and gone to the front and revealed the secret I hold, a scientific discovery that will power the revolution! The discovery also explains why Chomsky wasn't his full self and slipped up on Osama/Obama. In his recent talks he's also said Iraq when he meant to say Iran. I may do a live video upload and explain it all
Well now that would be something to see! He did another lecture just last night. My friend Chomskyan is trying to upload it. Chomsky keeps a grueling schedule; he's due his slip-ups, but that one was so unfortunate!
The discovery is a solar compass for the human domain by appreciating how birthday plays such a profound role in human development. The aim is to save the subject of birthday's significance from the archaic symbols and concepts of astrology and place it squarely in the realm of contemporary science. Among the urgent applications are realization of profound harmony between individuals of birthdays 6 months apart, the key to successful mating.
The application of the solar compass here to Chomsky's slipup is my discovery that people are their weakest in the 2 week period before their birthday and their half-birthday 6 months later. This talk was given December 3 and Chomsky's birthday is December 7.
The application of the discovery of the solar compass to our accomplishing the fundamental political and social changes we so sorely need is suggested by Confucius: When a society has outgrown its social forms, it can make an efficient transition to appropriate social forms, like a snake sliding out of last year's skin, by an extraordinary individual first gathering the people by demonstrating the value of accurately measuring the seasons.
Well, maybe but he also keeps a grueling schedule; he's done at least two lectures in the week following this one, and also interviews, so he keeps really busy. Maybe he was tired. =)
Everytime noam mentions nixon as the last liberal president the assembled listeners laugh. I don't think he is joking and that reaction is a litmus for how entrenched in the 'common sense' understanding of polical processes has been defined and accepted from the mainstream media.
