Oh - just love this video! Tom and Jim simply giving their respectfull dues to Jerry. Just look at their facial expressions. And Jerry - modest and unassuming.
Three people need to hold their breath until the earth is a better place. I mus have listened to this 10 times and I keep hitting repeat. Just outstanding!
I will always love Jerry's original version with blistering fingerpickin, but I like this version too. It swings and grooves more. Jerry Reed was an amazing entertainer and guitar player.
Prior to being recognised as an artist in his own right, jerry was one of the most in demand session guitarists in America. Yet most people remember him for driving a truck full of beer with a cheeseburger eating dog.
This was filmed a whole decade before i was born. Musically speaking i feel horribly short changed by the the last 30 years, and as such would like a refund!
Jerry wrote the song. He also played guitar on Elvis' version at Elvis' request because nobody else could get that sound. Jerry's original recording is better than this version.
Bad Ass! Even Big E could be proud! Jerry Reed picks and grins so well, and Tom Jones sounds good too. But Jim Sullivan is the real "Guitar Man" here. Thanks for posting this awesome vid.
@BigAstroG ...You know that Jerry wrote this song right. But, he wrote it for Elvis. One of my best froends is Jerry Reeds first cousin . His name is Wayne Parham. I had dinner with him one night and he asked if I minded if his cousin joined us......I didn't know it was Jerry Reed. He was awesome. I'm from Savannh Ga. This encounter happened when Jerry and Burt Reynolds were here making "GATOR". ...cheers
Tom Jones can sing pretty well, but this song was made for Jerry's voice. Together they make for a fun duet! Thank you for sharing all these wonderful videos.
