Why doesn't that committee chick just default on her debt then? It is not like they can do anything to her. She can just quit and use the products on her own or sell them at a much lower rate to get some sort of return. Sure her credit may be shot to hell, but I don't think she has the means to get a mortgage or car even WITH good credit.

If all else fails, I guess she can declare bankruptcy. Again, credit shot to hell but I don't think that is the important thing in this case.

@mrbignerd Remember, those products she has are not her own, they belong to Mouse Road; therefore, if she did try to sell their products w/out paying the company, she would likely end up be in a lawsuit. Also, if one could solve their debt problems by just defaulting his/her debt/loans, then there would be no need for the IRS or, in Japan's case, the National Tax Agency (国税庁). It's good though that you have reflected on this important issue a lot though ^^

Then again, they probably have good lawyers with another name as a front and that the committee chick is screwed through and through. Still, this is a personal debt to a private company (not the NTA) so I'm relatively sure she can default.

Then again, its Japan, probably different.

@mrbignerd You make very good points, and, not to drag this issue out, but, based on what I've learned in consumer economics, private companies can sue you in the same way government agencies can if you don't repay debts. There's a lot of factors to consider, and I shouldn't pretend to be some expert on the Japanese economic system. Either way, I can tell you're quite contemplative and smart, maybe you could learn about even more ways to combat pyramid schemes. :)
