  • What an incredible & special tribute to pay to a song I've loved since hearing it in real time & then to be sung by the magical & still fascinating "Nowhere Boy" himself - John Lennon. Great post !!

  • this song will be played at my 54th birthday party,my ex girlfriend will also be there from what i heard...and after a couple of songs being played i will play angel baby and leave on the repeat button for ever and ever and ever and Ever.......both versions are great!!

  • SUPER!

  • only the Caucasian are the ones who put a race to the face and say he or she is part white but then they do some thing wrong there they go saying well she or he is part black, mexican, native

  • This song was originally recorded in a music booth in Southern California. There's a whole story about it, great song.

  • A fine classic song - with the words so one can sing along.

    Much appreciated - Thanks.

  • rosie nacio en san diego california y es de padres mexicanos por lo tanto es mexicana les guste o no y arriba mexica gracias john lennon

  • Happy Birthday John Lennon!

  • i hated the original for a while because many of my teenage ex girlfriends dedicated it to me! obviously it's my name so it got lame. i started finding cover songs for it and never knew Lennon had one. He made me like it again.

  • Amazing how anyone else who isn't Rosie can screw up a beautiful song?

  • @triplespiral12 I can't help thinking that John would have eventually put music aside and become a serious writer of books.

  • @57highland The books John did write were humour or nostalgia. I couldn't see him writing anything really heavy. A full Beatle re-union would've happened at some stage (imho) and that would've certainly been capable of re-writng the history books with viewing figures, record sales etc. We are left only to ...IMAGINE.

  • @georgee895 John might have written his autobiography. Or a fictional account of some hyper-successful 60s rock n roll band. Or some social commentary. I really think he would have picked up the pen.

  • @triplespiral12 Hey thanks for that. I suspected it was from that time. It was a great album. What a real shame John never had the opportunity to do Beatles revisited concerts that McCartney has been doing so well. Thanks again.

  • Never heard this before.Sounds like it got the full recording treatment. Is it on an album? Or a B side? Or was it never released?

  • Давно искал эту песню, спасибо! :)

  • @DmitryDen If we only knew what you meant Dmitri?

  • My angel baby...I love you....I do!

  • I never knew he covered this song.

  • U PEOPLE BETTER NOT B ARROGANT....RESPECT THE FACT THAT LENNON LOVED ROSIE..SHE WAS ONE OF HIS FAV SINGERS...THIS SONG IS PERFECT....NOT TO MENTION SHE MADE THIS SONG WHEN SHE WAS 14......U ARROGANT FREAKS!

  • @andyhawne That would've made so many people hurt. If you don't like this or him, WHY GO ONTO A JOHN VIDEO!?!!?!? Thoughtless knob.

  • i dont give a fukc im puttin this under oldies

  • John's covers were always perfect in his own way :) Love him so much :) <3

  • Lovely.

  • Tengo todos los discos de Lennon, y no conocia esta canción. Habrá salido de algun olvidado estante, pero es una maqueta, no una version definitiva. Lennon no la sacó.

  • John's voice is truly amazing! As usual Phil Spector ruins things with over dubbing. This song would have been so much better if John's voice was the lead and not the music.

  • This song was a big hit in 1961 - The Beatles probably played it back then in their live shows.

  • Its good to hear John Lennon cover a song from a Mexican

  • @QVrat123

I didnt know Rosie was Mexican :P

  • @QVrat123 Rosie and the originals were american

  • @peace6311 Yes! they were american: From the American continent!

  • @QVrat123 I'm pretty sure she's white...

  • @GagaIsAMonster Might wanna look into her background a bit more. This is from the American Sabor website which is a site for Latinos in US popular music.

  • @GagaIsAMonster Fourteen-year-old Mexican American Rosie Mendez-Hamlin wrote the melody and lyrics for Angel Baby in 1959. The song became a national hit in 1960. Also I love Lady Ga Ga nice channel!

  • @vamtheanomaly Thanks for explaining! :) I'm glad you were nice about it! Thanks!

  • @GagaIsAMonster "Mexican" is not a race. Most mexicans are white or mestizos (mixed race), so she can be mexican and white.

  • @IfIRise hahah been to Mexico, most mexicans are mestizos(mixed) and very few whites, plus the indigenous ppl

  • @slatskatya I live in Mexico and can tell you that it depends on the region. The point is, you can't put all mexicans in a single race, and "mexican" isn't a race, but a nationality. Cheers. :)

  • @QVrat123 Im Mexican and i agreeXD!!!!

  • @Skargos

I tink you are a Chicano.

  • @QVrat123 shes mexican, she was just born in america kk?

  • @EveryChris umm that would make her an American. Why does everyone insist on putting themselves in groups, that is what the elites want. Technically we all in America owe our roots to another nation even the native americans who many came from other continents.

  • @EveryChris

She is really a daughter of Mexicans which would make her a Chicana.

Saludos

  • @QVrat123 ...They were from new mexico. :3

  • @QVrat123 So who cares if Rosie was a mexican why do you have to point that out.Her song is just as good as Lennon's cover regardless if shes "a mexican".

  • This is such a great version of this song.

  • Never heard this song before! Awesome! RIP John and RIP my sister Penny

  • I must admit he surprised me on this one, did a nice job!

  • John Lennon was the King of Rock & Roll. The world hasn't been the same since he's gone. We fortunately have his music to remember what a rare talent he truly was. God Bless him!

  • Did John have an affair with Rosie? And this is a masterpiece.

  • Didn't expect to enjoy this but he did well with it.

  • WHEN DID HE WROTE THIS !?

  • @SHEMEANzEVRyTHANG2ME

He didnt haha this is a really old song

  • @nmzanie

    He didnt wrote this ?

  • @nmzanie

I meant when did he PERFORMED this ...

  • @SHEMEANzEVRyTHANG2ME He didn't

  • @xXOneHotLennonXx

I meant when did he sing this.

I know Rosie and her band wrote this, but when did John sing this?

  • @SHEMEANzEVRyTHANG2ME Recorded 1974 NYC

  • @Studmasterify

    Thanks

  • Anyone that cant respect Lennon as a musician is most likely deaf. he can sing anything and sounds good whilst singing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song.. and Lennon voice is from another world !! 5 stars !

  • great sax..Liverpool Johnny was a Rocker.

  • i like th espanglish version better!!

  • Why do people use YouTube to spout their immature and childish nonsense?? Surely there are internet forums and chatrooms for you over-aggressive keyboard warriors?

  • wackass version

  • @rodenrren2 Your a Wackass Virgin.

  • @BENNYPRODUCTIONS You fuckwit John was NOT a loser his death was a loss to music and humanity.

  • @crickles1 i never said he was you busybody piece of shit

  • xwsftassell you are talking crap John Lennon's voice is soo right for this type of song. Shame on you. Rosie and the Originals should have been humbled that he thought it was worth recording.

  • John, that was utter crap compared to the Rosie and The Originals version.

  • This is pretty good, I heard during the summer and it did not affect me but listening to it again, I like it. Total Justice to the song. Wonder how they found records of this back in Liverpool back then? Totally cool.

  • kind of makes me cry...:(

  • he ruined the song! only cause he is Lennon?,! i love Roise's original version not this crap!

  • @OTHELAKON200 grow up you tit,dont listen to it,what a numpty

  • @grabar20 grow up? what a dumb ass! I was just listening to the original version , and it gave me this option to listen to the lennons version but it's just not music, the bettles were so inflated, there is just no record that proves they sold 1.6billion albums, lennon is in hell! the guys who kill him did something good!

  • @OTHELAKON200 Go away you queer little bum boy,ha ha ha ha ha,what a daft tit........

  • @OTHELAKON200 why dont u have someone throw dog shit in your face and think again

  • @BENNYGPRODUCTIONS dumb fuck! he is in hell! he was a loser good thing he is dead!

  • me and my soon to be wife will have our special dance to this amazing song.

  • oh gosh... who would think that while we were listening to this in East L.A. John Lennon was listening to this stuff too, in England! It's crazy cause he was just like you and me when they were kids.... Makes me love him and the Fabs all the more! And I have heard the Liverpool is England's East L.A.... Now I don't know if it's true, never being there.... But it's nice to think so!

  • john lennon suckssssssssss. hey stupid people stop saying tht john lennon was the best singer fuck lennon and the beattles. nothing come close like gun's & roses

  • @thelokofromlongbeach The Guns were a great band, but come on........... you must be curious about the Beatles, cause why are you checking out this John Lennon vid?

  • @tiranchula obvious troll

  • @thelokofromlongbeach back to your bridge

  • @thelokofromlongbeach I am a forever Beatles and Lennon fan, I think they will always be the two best musicians in the world. Guns n roses are an excellent band they wrote fabulous stuff!!! but u have to admit if you look at the beatles and guns n roses the beatles pretty much out number them in everyway, and u have to admit that the beatles were way bigger then guns n roses, but i have nothing against ur opinion,in fact i think its a very interesting opinion, guns n roses were great!

  • @thelokofromlongbeach Obvious retard is obvious. Now go back to your cave or whatever you call that mental asylum you live in.

  • john lennon suckssssssssss. hey stupid people stop saying tht john lennon was the best singer fuck lennon and the beattles. nothing come close like gun's & roses

  • amazing!!!

  • Cool pic of John!

  • John's voice is amazing no matter what he is singing!!!

  • @Kaya1955 The one the only JH.

  • @weenyone

I listen to The Beatles everynight. I feel we are ALL so fortunate to have their music in our lives. The world is in a mess. Listening to their music can help us "shut out" our troubles and worries. . . . . Until the the sun comes up and reality sets in one more time.

  • AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL VOICE OMG

  • amo esta cancioooooonnnnn :)

  • lennon es el mejor musico del planeta

  • Rest in eternal peace Johnny L.This world is no place for one as beautiful as you are.Go with GOD Johnny, heaven smile upon you and Yoko.No one can destroy true love, especially not a crazed gunman.Love,it's the only thing infinite and everlasting. The wisest among men and women invest in Love and eternity.

  • @stjsanders yeah! You know what I'm talking about!!!! If not, you better find out!!!

  • @stjsanders Have your mom get a hold of me!! It doesn't have to get crazy!! I don't think the rest of the world cares!! The reason John was killed is because Morris Levy was pissed that John didn't record this song for Morris and Morris had a slight problem with that!! It's okay stjsanders if you are the son of Rosie!! and I don't blame you for being upset!! I'm sorry your Mom got pimped but at the same time wright is wright!!!!! Lynn Davis sang and recorded that song no matter how you c it!!!

  • @Lusth0g The original Artist said that she liked his version dumbass

  • great song

  • lets not hate becasue we all love oldies

and oldies are oldies, no matter in what rythm, listen to the words and the meaning forget about the rythm

  • hey johncfl your a fuckin idiot who obviously doesnt know something good when she hears it. oh im sorry did i say she? i just thought you surley must be a fuckin girl the way you bitch and complain like one. a very stupid girl. a very stupid girl who doesnt know good music. do us all a faor and keep your stupid fuckin opinions to yourself you lame fuckin puscake. FUCK YOU YOU STUPID CUNT!!!

  • @maxxx9927 Hey Maxxxx..take a chill pill! :) I've never heard this version until now. This is actually quite good. Then again John Lennon knew how to take a song and make it his. It's not fair to compare apples to oranges.. so leave it at that. :)

p.s. did you take that chill pill yet? LOL!

  • Lennon once said that while he may of been a star in the '60's, he was a product of the '50's. I always love that no matter how experimental he may have been with some of his music, he was never too far from the rock and roll standards of his youth. While this version suffers from too much production and probably too much booze in the studio, the point is the same man who wrote Strawberry Fields For Ever and Well Well Well his having the time of his life singing this song....

  • I love Rosie & the Originals and I am obsessed with lennon and the beatles. This is orgasminc for me!

  • He did a good job but i wish him and my aunt rosie would of been able to play it together.

  • This one of the best covers ever. Sing it John!

  • like original better lol

  • 1950s do woop meets David Lynch.

  • Lennon>every other cover jus sayin

  • I know who Lennon is and respect his cover of this song.

I have no idea who Angelica is, but consider her cover to be the ultimate best of this song. Fame is not everything.

    Original version comes in 2nd.

Sorry John. Third place is not that bad.

  • philipcarol, you're out of your mind. The original is the best, Lennon's very good; Angelica's SUCKS, a techno piece of crap.

  • thutton67 -- This is not even in the same galaxy as the original by Rosie. The music is overbearing and John sounds like a girlieman, LOL -- I only wish it were a laughing matter.

  • Is from his album Menlove Ave named after the road in Liverpool where he lived as a child with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George the album it self was relassed 6 in 1986 6 years after his death but the songs where recorded back in the 70's.

  • i love this cover (:

  • John does a great cover of this, not to mention being the greatest songwriter of all time

  • @ITILII This sucks. Should never have been attempted.

  • It always amazes me what the "greats" of rock and roll listen to. I love the song by both Rosie and the Originals and Lennon. Bryan (?) Wilson of the Beach Boys picked "Be My Baby" by the Ronnettes as his favorite song. Joni Mitchell loves those "rock and roll choir boys" like the Everly Brothers. Thanks for posting.

  • john's voice is just amazing..

  • Great John Lennon vocals featuring the full Phil Spector Wall of Sound treatment. If you like this you might like his version of the Ronettes Be My Baby recorded at the same sessions.

  • damm john this is one of your best i love this cover might be his best cover

but johns covers are the best at evry cover

  • This version is just classic, one of his best covers. I did a search and found an interview where Rosie is asked what her favorite cover of the song was, and she said it was this version, and that she wished she could have met Lennon. She'd be the first to humbly say that he blew her away with this amazing rendition.

  • I just so loved Lennon's voice. Nobody comes close at how expressive it is.

  • @westfield90 fuck you . ,,!,, (-_-)

  • @thelokofromlongbeach Give peace a Chance

  • keep in mind folks, John Lennon was "Completely" Wasted on Booze & Coke when he did this. My point is, don't "DARE" compare Rosie & The Originals to a Genius like John Lennon. Trust me, Rosie & The Originals wouldn't!

  • greatest of all time. this song makes me so sad !

  • I'm speechless.

    John......?

    :(

  • not you srry the hoo that descraced mr. lennon

  • what's wrong with that version? -_-

  • It's just like heaven being here with you.

    P;

  • I love Rosie & The Originals, and I love John Lennon! Perfect.

  • This song rocks!!! It reminds me of my best freind in Australia!!!

  • lov it

  • Me Too.

  • Me three.

  • 4:00 am, I can't sleep, and this song is moving!

  • Exceptional..... just great.

    Thankyou.

  • Very well done, a super tune!

  • Drummer had a lot of work here.

  • jesus he could sing!

  • awsome
