@agirard77 , thats not true. the 87 series wasnt as lopsided as people think. Were it not for that one little hook shot by magic in the end, it wouldve been 3-2 celtics after 5 games, then it wouldve been close, Im not saying they wouldve won it, but the Lakers would really have to work for it.
@agirard77 If they would have put Len BIas out on that parkay...The entire world would be different...Would MJ be the MJ we know today???...We'll always wonder...RIP Len Bias and props to The GOAT that lived MJ.
Kobe is the main player 4 LA without him they would suck boston's a much more spread out team and lets not forget last year's blowout game also Boston has 5 injured players right now so I wouldn't talk about how bad the Celtics are bitch
Wow, where to start? 1986 NBA champions: the BOSTON CELTICS. LA won in 1985, 1987 and 1988, so I'll assume you were simply confused. Furthermore, Boston beat LA in 1984 for the crown. So I don't know what you meant by "4-0 in the championships" bub.
The celtics beat the lakers like 11/13 times. Every time in the 50's and 60's and twice in the 80s and once so far in the new millenium. Celtics banner 18 2009
I have this entire game on vcr......it is incredible to watch the faces on the Celtic players as they went thru their paces in kicking serious ass here.Sampson was never the same after this major league trouncing.
I wish the Rockets didn't get lucky that year and beat the Lakers by a fluke. It would have been nice to see the Celtics crush the lakers in '86 to get some payback.
The Lakers were too chicken shit. Only the following year when Boston was banged up and injured did they want to play the Celtics. Even though Magic has more wins over Bird, I think deep down Magic knows none of his Laker teams could have beaten the 86 Celtics
"The Lakers were too chicken shit. Only the following year when Boston was banged up and injured did they want to play the Celtics. Even though Magic has more wins over Bird, I think deep down Magic knows none of his Laker teams could have beaten the 86 Celtic"
I think you need to get the facts and not just throw your boas opinion out like you do. Yeah I know the Celtics were good on all but an objective opinion is nice.
The difference between the Lakers & the Celtics was bench strengh... In '86 when they had a bench, that was without a doubt the greatest team in NBA history...
@ZinderZim Expansion teams thinned out the talent in the league that year. 16 teams were at or below .500 with only 29 teams at the time....which is more than half of the league. 7 teams didn't even win 30 games. Very lopsided.
In 86 the Celtics crushed the Lakers at the Boston Garden and won at the Forum without Kevin Mchale. The Celtics would have had home court where they only lost one home game all year. In 85 and 87 the Celtics did not have much of bench and they simply ran out of gas, but in 86 when the starters could rest it was unbelievable
@snowgod777 the rockets got lucky???? they won the series 4-1 and without hakeem the last 5 minutes in game 5. if anything the lakers should be happy they never saw the rockets in 87.
The Lakers knew they couldn't beat the Celtics that year and purposely blew the Western Confernce finals to avoid giving Boston the satisfaction of beating them in finals.
@Goldorak6 because the lakers bought the 2010 championship with money. It was rigged. But they had to have some good moments for the celtics so they took it to 7 games, played up the drama as much as possible gave ray allen the 8 3's and shit but Boston just didnt have enough money to buy the championship. IT WAS RIGGED. Kobe already knew he'd be the MVP he had that little picture planned. When the buzzer went off Bynum's fake happy OMG reaction was the worst performance ever in Hollywood.
IT'S STILL CELTICS NATION 4 LIFE

Johnny Most had style and character, unlike most of the talking heads we have today.
One of the sweetest sounds ever..."Bird stole the ball! Bird stole the ball!"

I love the Celtics but Most had the most irritating voice I've ever heard!

I think that was the best home record in nba history. Amazing!

@hamshow What about the bulls in 96 when they went 72-10, they have jordan pippen rodman and a decent bench

Houstan took 2 games away from the Celtics. That Celtics team wasn't invincible. The 76ers only lost one game in their playoff run.
Lakers had matchup problems with the TWIN TOWERS which they addressed in 87. I doubt the Celtics would have "crushed" the Lakers like you think.
