  • What a unique voice. I love Ben Gibbard! Death Cab is my FAVORITE band ever!! I actually saw them in concert last night, amazing. I have never been to a better concert! Loved every minute! This is my favorite song! My heart just melts, and I lose all control when I hear this song. Beautiful music-3

  • "hipster" just another stereo type...

and don't people call them that just about EVERY time an album is released?

I went to "rock and roll heaven" in Orlando yesterday and they didn't have death cab cd's in their indie and modern rock section. Just about exoloded my head off there.

  • freaking amazing

total success on a level so high it can't be explained

  • You can't say DCFC has gone "hipster." because this band is older than that term.

  • Whose the dick who dislikes this?

  • 'home is a fire' is another track that is available to listen to from the album, with the itunes pass

  • good song. cant wait to see what they do with the full production. I played a cover version of Codes And Keys...

  • lovely :D

  • Some people have been telling me how Death Cab has gone hipster, I disagree. THEY GET AWESOMER AS THEY GO!

  • @TaintedBreezes holy shit are you serious, death cab are the vanguards of hipsterism

doesn't mean im not waiting anxiously for codes and keys, but it is what it is

  • Everyone should shut up about this whole Cat Power thing, Wait till you hear the album version and then say something. Nick even said himself that this sounds completely different. The album version is 7 minutes long and has string sections. It's gonna be incredible, lol.

  • I don't understand why people don't like Narrow Stairs, I loved it. Obviously The Open Door was more upbeat, and if Codes and Keys is like that then it'll be a great installment for DCFC but Transatlanticism is sort of evenly matched with Narrow Stairs to me.

  • Death Cab is indeed - ALIVE!

  • Sounds like he stole the greatest by cat power, just with different lyrics. I miss the old death cab

  • I was in the front row for this show and it was really hard to suppress tears from streaming down my face throughout (this song slays lives).

  • Hoping Codes and Keys is the baby of Plans and Give Up (PS) albums.

  • @lauralovesdcfc I was thinkin' it might go in that direction. This song alone has such a great melody, I cant wait for the studio version!

  • I think my favorite thing about Death Cab for Cutie is their ability to put real, authentic emotions inside of you. This song is no exception.

  • wow! thank u guys! DCfC loVe

  • This song paints endless pictures in my mind

  • can't. wait. any. longer.

  • I am hoping for the same thing. I usually dont care to much for live music but they killed it with this one. I hope they dont over produce this album. The piano alone on this track melts me, I love it.

  • @twazzerful totally agree. i feel as if i'm exploding with somthing i can't describe :) codes and keys is going to be much better than narrow stairs. i hope the arrangement of the song is as simple on the album as this. it's pure beauty.

  • @vacuumheart , In an interview they said the whole band will be involved in this song as well as a strings arrangement that Alan Moulder put together for it, so it's definitely not going to be bare. I think it'll be surprisingly different on the album but probably even prettier.

  • Its hard to stop listening to this. Codes and Keys is going to be a great album. I hate that I have to wait for it after getting this little taste. I hope it is as amazing as Transatlantacism.

  • Yes Ben, Yes.

  • dsfasdhfalsdf! CAN'T WAIT. Really hoping for this album to be like "Transatlanticism"...

  • @CodyBlurr It's supposed to be a less guitar oriented album. They all said it was going to sound like Brian Eno's Another Green World.

  • @swimr2381 , check out the most recent interview with Nick Harmer. The single off of the album is guitar based, but he compares the album mostly to plans. It isn't going to be as ambient and whatnot as Another Green World.

  • @CodyBlurr

It would be muuuuch better if this album was like.....itself....instead of another album. That would be boring.

  • @CodyBlurr do yourself a favor and don't expect transatlanticism pt.2. it's going to be great, but you've gotta take it how it is or you'll be disappointed

  • holy fucking shit this is fucking beautiful fucking fuck

  • @Lukesodo Me too.

  • Wow, this gives me high expectations for the album. (:

  • @Lukesodo Ah are you serious?!! That sucks but thanks for letting me :)

  • these guys need to come to the south, saw their tour line up and its all north west and europe. Thumbs up for a Ben Gibbard solo show in the south! and by south i mean other than SXSW

  • I'm so excited!!!

  • I've taken to watching this video everyday, cannot wait for the new record!

  • Aliza! I was in the front row with you when you recorded this! He's amazing <3

  • @KingOfFools77 definitely thought the same thing...

  • Does anyone else think that this song is not unlike radioheads "All I Need?" It has a very similar cadence.

  • @SoupNazi and DeVotchKas "How It Ends"

  • Once I wanted to be the greatest...

  • thats beautiful. and so simple. cant wait for the album!!

  • IN LOVE OHMYGOD
