nuke, what do you think of the idea that15% - 20% of people display sociopathic behaviour on the internet? i've come across the idea a few times now but i can't figure out where it originally came from.
My brother has been labeled as a sociopath, yet has social anxiety disorder/social phobia. He has done remarkably well actually marrying a great woman who I adore and raising kids to NOT be like him. We seldom talk unless over an IM but he does have somewhat of a caring piece left inside him. He was also a cutter and his arms were so badly scarred he got them sleeved out in tattoos. The skulls and dragons look better. There was alot of violence in our relationship growing up.
Does anyone know in real world situations to what degree sociopaths can demonstrate or feel empathy...they lack it entirely? They can mimic it? Or they do posses it but have episodes where it is selective or sporadic?
Ethics/morality are subjective not objective. Take murder. Most normal people(who aren't sociopaths) would agree that killing other people is wrong. Most murders are crimes of passion, so you are right, these people generally feel remorse afterward. Take these same people and give them a gun and send them to Iraq and they will kill. Sociopaths don't need authority to tell them to do rotten things.
Amature psychologists are usually more dangerous than most of the "psychopaths" they come across.
Do you have any idea how damaging it can be to be labeled a psychopath? How are you supposed to not objectify the rest of the world when the rest of the world ignores you and treats you like you're not capable of feeling emotions and have no conscience.
I though you diagnosed a lot of people since you said you saw the signs of psychopathy in a lot of people on youtube. It's good to know I was wrong though.
I get paranoid about these things because when I was a kid
my mother used to hide drugs in my food.
The psuedo-scientists at my school told her to do it.
10 years later they found out that children taking those drugs have an increases risk of developing psychopathy in early adulthood.
I'm sure the many Youtube sociopaths who watch these videos will be reassured that they are perfectly normal and will feel confident that they can spot sociopaths with ease now.
Sure, they see people as objects, but as HUMAN objects, so they're totally NOT sociopathic.
Excellent video. To play off a well known saying from a well movie, "The Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world he didn't exist." A sociopath's greatest trick IS convincing the world he doesn't exist.
Since you mentioned that study, I will send you a NPR link I sent to Jedi on a story on a freaky French follow up to it.
Yay! We win! The sociopaths looooze! People as objects. Stuff like this on the psychological level, how people look at others as things sometimes, or picture life like a ladder or pyramid, which is the wrong shape, kids! Stuff like that makes me impressionable to your Marxism. Bring it on.
But, what do you do about a kid who, "can't care"?

Great video, especially given the context however one should be weary of psychoanalyzing others. It is another kind objectification.

Oh my god, you too?
Who am I psychoanalyzing? THIS VIDEO ISN'T ABOUT ANYONE.

I just said in my last video that I view psychology as mostly psuedo-science.
I'm curious as to who you think I've diagnosed.
Get fucking real.
