Out of the Spanish celebrities that are now more or less famous in America, this guy's definetly the one that speaks English best ... by far.

He knows the words and, just as importantly, he knows how to pronounce them.

Watch Jose Andres with Ferguson and you'll see what I mean :)

He has a good american accent maybe because his mother language is catalan. And we have several sounds in catalan that exists aswell in english, so it's a little bit easier.

I love Craig and my favorite sport is basketball, so I've been a little hurt by the fact that he didn't know how big is basketball on Spain, specially in Catalonia

That´s rubbish. There are other catalans in America like Jordi Molla and Rudy Fernandez and their english skills sucks as much as any other spanish celebrities. Gasol english is excellent because he put lot of work on it, period.

@ScourgeofInfidels that's true, he worked a lot. But I'm sure that Antonio Banderas also worked a lot on that... Anyway the Rudy's catalan is pretty castillian pronuntiation and with a lot of spanish words in it, so he's not that kind of people that i'm talking about.

And the truth is that has been prove that people that speaks several languages as natives can learn easier another one. And, of course, the catalan and the english share several sounds that don't exist in castillian

Sorry to burst your bubble but english and catalan language don´t share any fonetic sounds. Maybe catalan does with the french, and of course its pronunciation is less rudimentary than castillian. But that´s all. And still catalan is a pretty rudimentary language compared with other romance and european tongues, very similar to spanish -more that you would like to admit I reckon.

I dont know why I should be ashamed when spanish is not even my first language, and you take excessive pride in a fact of dubious veracity. If you were actually a fluent english speaker I guess you would understand that the nasal sounds you do in catalan (which varies very much depending the region) doesnt have nothing to do with any fonetic form of the english language, and catalan speakers struggle so much as any spanish speakers with the english language.

And castillian has other unique sounds that helps to pronounce in arabic or german, maybe. These phonemes are hard to say if you are not used to it. A good catalan speaker can say: "Joy", "Verb" or "Spurs" as a native
