My partner has an Auris SR (3 Door). Personally I think it is fantastically well made and does have a quality feel. Easily better built than my Ford Focus. The ride is also very smooth and the handling good. Don't like the gearbox though - I don't mind the up-on-dash location, but the shift changes are very long. I also don't like the lights that tell you when to shift up and down. To drive, its also not as much fun as the Focus. Otherwise though, an excellent, underrated car in my opinion.

I am not too fond on the sr180.

Its a good thing to have in the range, but they shouldave carried the supercharged 1.8 litre petrol, that was found in the corolla compressor.

Now that wouldave been a hot hatch.

I think the new V-matic petrol engines would be better than a diesel choice.

Petrols are of course more refined and better to hear, and the new v-matic engines are efficient and powerful.

And they cost £1000-£2000 less than a similiar powered diesel engine.

Yeah agreed. Toyota are one of the few people who don't make a hot hatch version of their small hatchback. The SR180 is NOT a Focus ST/Golf GTi rival by a long shot. Its also a diesel, and while it is a very good diesel, a properly sporty car should have a petrol engine.

I have a SR180 and think its a pretty good car, not the fastest thing going( but then its not a hot hatch and i'm not 18) it has good performance for price and econmy.

the solution called Noise reduction Kit get it free from toyota ;)

hope toyota fixed all these Auris issues to the new f/l model

Has your dad tried taking it back to the dealership to complain? I personally (via my partner) found that Toyota's customer service was fantastic. Much better than what I've ever had from Ford (which is very average).
