I like your version I enjoy and appreciate the talent it takes to record and post yourself even not being a pro Your interpretation is yours some get it some dopes don't! Nice work! I know how difficult it is to perform solo when Clapton and Santana use complete rhythm section 10 deep
Great job with the singind ana the guitar work. I came across your video just now and coincidentally I sing this song as well and have a cover video. I am sending you my video, please watch it if you get a chance and feel free to make comments. Keep up the good work. Farzad
melancholy but sweet at same time..this song was written for patti boyd(george harrisons wife) by eric his secret feelings... but jim gordon did the musical part to reflect ERICS true (real-life) feelings of unrequited love by a married women(patti). Jim should take credit for his major part in layla beautiful piano ending and guitar riffs..before the song was fast version w/ no ending derek/dominoes...now with 2 geniuses the song is a classic/ great.
actually jim gordon was playing this piece one night as part of his work for his solo album, clapton heard it and asked if he cud use it at the end of layla as he didnt have a fitting end. he didnt write it with eric clapton, pattie boyd or even the layla album in mind at the time.
Really sad that this guy Jim Gordon went down in history as a schizo that went nuts killed his mom...jail/mental ward-i dont mean that in bad way-poor guy its so unfortunate...When in fact hes a musical GENIUS..he plays all instruments wrote the guitar part to leyla and added beautiful piano ending to this masterpiece. I think eric is musical genius too but JIM gordon was the brains behind song "layla"-he should get credit--i read whole book..Eric and domino did fast version of Layla with no end
jim gordon didnt write the guitar part to layla. eric clapton did, with inspiration for the opening riff from duanne allman.
he wasnt the "brains" behind layla. he was responsible for the sweet music of the piano coda yes, but the only reason it was included in the song layla is it was actually a sheer accident.
Gracias a ti por dejarnos escuchar tus versiones, ya sabes lo que haces muy bien. Por cierto, esa petición de Best of you de Foo fighters aún está pendiente... no te digo ná y te lo digo tó. Agur.
Jim Gordon is another lost legend of the '70s: He's everywhere you turn, from The Carpenters to Traffic to Harry Nilsson's "Jump Into The Fire". He discovered drugs in 1975, they indiced paranoid schizophrenia in 1979, killed his mother in the early '80s, ended up in prison. In spite of his bad fortune, he'll never be broke, "Layla" being his biggest royalty treasure. Tragic turn for tremendous talent.
As I said before in one of your videos, You are the perfect resource to find good themes !, Thanks for the music, I really enjoy a lot your style, Keep It Up! =)
some guitar parts sound wrong, like the main riff. i could be wrong. i dont really know the song that good, but some parts do sound off from what i remember. voice is good.

it was a hammer. it's said he was schizo and kept hearing voices in his head of his mother. guess he wanted to shut her up
