  • just loaded four of leos old live performance to remind me when i saw him at the stoneground in manchester near the old belle vue zoo way back in 1974 or was it 73 god i miss those days if only i had a time machine just to let you know he had just done a tour with roxy music and this gig was a sell out with the doors locked up to 2 hours before he was due on stage and i was there now if only they sold the t- shirts back then all i got was a copy of the silverbird album that was fixed to the wall

  • Nice :)

    abeldanger(dot)net

  • A true musical artist and true talent which is so lacking today!

  • Wow i was 12 when i was in a boys home this song was on the school juke box , it costs tuppence to play a record , i think i bored everybody stupid playing it over and over loved it then still love it today at 50

  • @stevealiaselvis same age, same love of same song.

  • If I only had a time machine. This performance would be one of my pit stops!

    Love you, Leo Sayer!

  • Humanity in music. What's missing today.

  • The irony for me and in retrospect I took Leo more seriously in the clown suit than when he came out of it and swam for the musical middle ground.

  • Great stuff. This brings back so many memories. The really great thing is that Leo is still performing. He emigrated to Australia a few years ago & still tours the clubs, in fact, i'm off to see him live in a couple of weeks. I hope he does this one.

  • It's a pity that in the 1970s what is now the Oran Mor in Glasgow was the Bible Training Institute. This performance would be in its element in Oran Mor.

  • Great song...so inspirational. Have posted to Facebook, hope that's ok?

  • Great song...so inspirational

  • Fucking can't stop listening to this song, so addictive, proper entertainment!

  • whats with the clown ?

  • @mobyboy thats what e wore on top of the pops to sing the show must go on

  • lose your life under a taxi cab

    have eyes in your feet

    move along all day

    i love you leo sayer

thank you so much for your contribution

    andrew

  • Brilliant stuff! In these days of processed vocals and pitch correction it's so nice to hear a singer with an honest-to-god set of pipes cutting loose. We really were spoiled for great singers in the seventies.

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • Love One Man Band. Love the way Leo puts expressions in his voice, he's just a perfect singer, and an amazing guy - brilliant!! Leo always sounds brilliant. That's another fave song I love Leo singing "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" on "The Wiggles"- I try and mimmic the dancing on there!! The song "When I Came Home This Morning" is featured on Leo Sayer's second album 'Just A Boy' track 6.

  • this song reminds me of terence hill and bud spencer!!!

  • En ik hoor dat minder en minder...en we drinken des te meer pinten samen!

  • Guy is great a skilled performer with songs that touch the heart . What more needs to be said. He may never be valued like Madonna, Byber, and all the super sensations promoted by commercialism but he is one lily that sticks above the rest for those that appreciate talent and sincerity.

  • I DON'T CARE WHAT BAND IS PLAYING AT THE TIME....I WANT HEAR THE SONG AND THE VOCALS....IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE VOCALS...YOU NEVER HAVE A BAND..LEO HAS A BAND ..WHAT A RANGE...THANK YOU FOR SHARE THIS VIDEO ....

  • Nobody remembers it. Just get on with it.

  • Can anyone honestly say that they have heard a bad Leo sayer song???

  • @jonkheere1 He did have a knack. But where is "When I Came Home This Morning"?

  • I just love him. Thanks for such great videos!

  • Is he dead?

  • @FalckHD Nope, not dead. He is living in Australia. I saw him a couple of years ago on a show my kids watch called "The wiggles" where he did "you make me feel like dancing" . He still sounds great too.

  • @FalckHD No, I saw hin live in concert tonight. He was brilliant for a 63 year old

  • Personally, I think that Richard Tucker, Mario del Monaco, Jussi Bjoerling, James McCracken, Jon Vickers, and Franco Corelli all look better in that outfit and make-up; but Leo Sayer does sing well, which is the point, and both singer and song come off VERRY well, which is also the point. Thank you VERY much for sharing this with us!!!!!

  • Dressing like a clown in concert requires tremendous talent, Lady Gaga

  • Leo Sayer, Brilliant artiste - What more needs to be said ???

  • oh my....i remember my ex used to play this on guitar and sing it..... loved it since then!!

  • great voice, great outfit! Clowns rocks!

  • nice voice.....

  • An artist!

  • U THE BEST MAN.... U ROCK!!

  • I appreciate the upload of the Sayer videos. I'm curious what the source is for these?

  • bravo Leo!

  • I didn't know Leo wrote this song for Roger Daltrey, thought Roger merely covered it. Sad that the only song still being played on radio from Leo Sayer seem to be When I need you

  • Hey hey, fellas let's not fight over who is the best. It's so subjective. We all have different tastes that is what makes us individuals and unique. But in my opinion the best performers are 1. Beatles. 2. Rolling Stones. 3. The Who. 4. Kinks. 5. Moody Blues. 6. Jethro Tull. 7. David Bowie. 8. Pink Floyd. 9. U2. 10. The Clash. Peace.

  • ONE MAN BAND....GREAT SONG MEMORIES WONDERFUL MEMORIES

  • COOL COOL COOL !!!

  • I remember Leo saying he was very insecure at the beginng and hid behind the clown makeup. He had some real good stuff

  • One man band thats me lol

  • Don't know how Leo's abundant talent escaped me for so long, but better to be late to the party than not show up at all. Somebody put LS up on Huffpo two days ago and I was so taken that I have tried to see his whole You Tube offering. A sublime treat, he is!

  • @9onaeb Other than reading socialist blogs, I know how you feel. This is an amazing performance. I think he went wrong with the "easy listening" stuff, then got lost.

  • leo was and is a great singer i personally worked with him in sheffied he was a nice friendly guy too bad he was fucked up by his manager at that time thats the rat race business were in agents and managers have killed a lot of talent and i know having tread the boards now for 45years errol69

  • leo was and is a great singer i personally worked with him in sheffied he was a nice friendly guy too bad he was fucked up by his manager at that time thats the rat race business were in agents and managers have killed a lot of talent and i know having tread the boards now for 45years

  • Did he do 'Drop Back" during that performance? Do you have that too? Can up upload it as well please?

  • clown because when he started out he was so shy he had to hide behind the clown facade

  • Long Tall Glasses was good.

  • Leo & elton burst onto our tellys almost the same time

Yes and they made a big impact on all of us as well

Both of them in the charts most of the time & with more than 1 hit

This is what Great Artist we had at the time of the 60/70s

  • Dude, thanks for the memeories.

  • A hidden treasure

  • @ThewebPeople of course... it was the same for me 4 months ago...

  • Thanks Youtube for those great finds.....like this one I also like

    Mo'Sean "Give you my soul"

  • Wicked tune. Know what he means

  • his "just a boy" album got me through some tough times in my very early teens. i felt like someone really understood. as soon as his albums were released on CD, i made sure to acquire them (except for the disco stuff)

  • I love our friend RawkHead1!!!!!!!!!!

  • What an amazing artist!

  • great song !!

  • Another Great Video

  • Yes! He was great. Remember, this is two years before Dylan's rolling thunder revue! Leo was so great

  • Saw him in concert in 78 at the Civic in Wolverhampton, great live performer, very very very under rated artist.

  • We grew up with Leo's music. So talented, and blessed with brilliant voice and range. Was never really recognised for his abilities. Happy memories.

  • A Brilliant Song from Leo who i loved and still do love Shirls xx

  • Streets of Your Town is a good one. Right now I'm addicted to his song I Will Not Stop Fighting.

  • He recorded an excellent song called 'The Streets of your Town', It would be great to see this song on youtube as it doesn't seem to be uploaded as yet.

    Patrick (Ireland).

P.S. I haven't a clue how to upload videos, lol.

  • An iconic performer, he typifies what the 70s was all about, a superb talent with a repretoire of classic songs...

    Patrick (Ireland)

  • This guy had talent in buckets

  • ahahahahaha ..well said!! :)

  • It was the 70's!! Rainbow suspenders, perms, "Godspell" was 'hip', Sonny & Cher, Bette Midler, Elton John - they all had crazy outfits and hairdo's...

You don't think that kids 30 years ago aren't going to look at Lady Gaga and Beyonce and say 'WTF?!"

    Listen to That Voice; brilliant.

    (my nameseake...)

  • The past is full of outfits and hair that make us laugh now. I once saw Leo talk about the costume in an interview. As I recall, he said it was originally done for the Silverbird album back cover, but fans asked why he wasn't in costume at concerts so he wore it for a while. The heavy makeup bothered him and he ditched it.

  • i think he's costume really makes it stand out, the music speaks for itself lol effortless singing and cool music 5 stars!!

  • This reminds me of a Billy Joel song, yet Ive always thought of Leo Sayer as a small tubby bloke with high hair who sings really high. I think I let him pass me by, this & "The Show Must Go On," are stellar

  • so talented....

  • iv loved this song since i was very young. it never grows old and id buy his music any day.

  • WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED!!! WHY!!!?!? sell outs suck

  • he´s a show-man, the important thing is her voice, not her face. This is a show to hear with your closed eyes,

  • I would of liked this alot more if he wasnt wearing that costume....

  • what is the reason for the costume?

  • What have Emil and Bandsaw achieved in life?

  • This guy is fucking great! Why is he not immensly more popular?

  • Does anyone out there have the song Drop Back by Leo Sayer? I can't find it anywhere

  • Absolutly love it. One question though, why is he dressed up like a clown??

  • he dressed like that becausehe thought that if know one iked his music they would get a laugh

  • Serious , genius . wot a tune

  • I love this man leo sayer. His songs teached me alot about life when i was a little boy. These days some people call me a clown. And all i can do is smile and think about Leo.

  • the best song Leo ever wrote........thanx very much mr Sayer..........spiderette cat loves this tune.......

  • Looking forward to seeing Leo in downtown Australia in November ......thanks for sharing this great clip.

  • i love the yodle!

  • I never knew this was written by YOU!

always loved this song, and your version is killer....

  • i fruitlessly searched for this tune a couple year ago on youtube. glad to see someone finally uploaded it. thank you

  • bloody oth!

  • Leo is the greatest live performer ever. He's incredibly underrated. Love ya mate, and so does Australia :)

  • @Jurgen7789 ... agreed!

  • @Jurgen7789

I think you may be right.

  • @Jurgen7789 dont be silly greatest perfomer ever... mr jackson is the greatest

  • @Jurgen7789 you guys are fuckin ridiculous with your greatest ever claims get real

  • @drummer184 maybe i was being slightly hyperbolic and overenthusiastic. Nevertheless, i still admire his musical style for its originality, and his presence on stage is undeniably cool

  • @Jurgen7789 He's no Al Jolson. :C)

  • leo's album is mint

  • Its Actually a 'Pierrot' outfit. He wore it just to compete with all the other flamboyant dressers in the UK Glam Rock scene.

  • Leo's probably the UK's most underrated talent. I have a real soft spot for him. G'bless x

  • Lets see here... he dresses like a clown, he pours on the makeup... he has a high voice... this is like Michael Jackson with talent!!

  • It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre. Now more than ever, British voters need to understand that they are being colonised. Unless they act decisively to halt this mass immigration wave, Britain and its thousands of years of culture, history and tradition will be submerged under the immigration invasion.

  • My dad used to sing this song!:'(

  • His greatest hits cd "all the best" is amazing. Heard he is a half brother to the Gibbs (Bee Gees)

  • why clown?

    good song

  • great song, clown ?

    nothing else to laugh ?

  • 'Roger Daltrey had a cousin, Graham Hughes, who was a well-respected photographer. Leo met with him just after he'd shot Rogers album cover and was intrigued by some fashion photos Graham had taken. What had inspired Leo was the presence amongst the models in the shoot of Belgian mime artist Julien in the guise of Pierrot the clown.

Leo came on the show dressed as the Pierrot . His wife Janice made the costumes and applied his make up.'

    (condensed from website bio)

  • @RawkHead1 I've just posted a performance of this song by Roger Daltrey on my channel, take a look. : )

  • @pat1779 what a talent what a voice

  • Fantastic ! just a Boy was my first album ever owned and still one of my favorites. Video, audio and .... performance are great. Are commercially available those video ? I sercher for a DVD but no success ...

    thanks

  • At the beginning he mentions he wrote this song for Roger Daltrey (of The Who). With one exception, the songs on that Daltrey album, One Man Band, were all co-written by the previously unknown Leo Sayer.

  • Take that back. The album was Daltrey.

  • its called artistic license, is ignorance bliss?

  • Fantastic!!! Dover Days.....1970's Melb
