For me, The Edge's guitar melodies are like classical music played in a electric guitar. When you hear the melodies in songs like Gloria, Sunday Bloody Sunday, or Electric Co...just to name a few of his over 100 masterpieces, I drop to the floor because this guy is a music writting genius.

Let me tell you about 'The Edge'. Man, he is THE most over-rated musician on the planet. He's built a reputation on cheap-tricks, like delay and chorus - truth be told, Andy Summers does this with much more talent. However, 'The Police' didn't rise to fame on the back of sorry political statements. 'The Egg' has little-or-no-talent and would falter if presented with a real song like 'Smoke on the Water, 'Black Dog', Surfin' with the Alien' etc. BTW - the Egg has absolutely no 'feeling' at all.

The proof is right in front of you. Watch a song where he is holding the guitar in concert and you will see he barely does anything with it. you can't hear any guitar sound coming from him. he is basically useless. Even Edge;s guitar tech has said Bono brings nothing in terms of guitar playing

I give the Edge credit for re-introducing what David Gimour Developed with an old Binson delay unit, and made it popular in the 80's, besides he. But if not with Gilmours experimants with Binson and MXR DDLS, i doubt the edge would of fulfilled his is sounds, LOL, sorry, sad and simple technique aside, the DDL was a major factor in his sound. enough said. And Gimour mastered it in the so's while the edge was pissign in his pull ups or diapers. Or bed wttign over the ringing of delay in sleep.

I have to fully agree with 'itcurry'. What this guy (The Egg) is doing is, frankly, a poor and pale imitation of a REAL gtr wizard. Take for example, the guy from The Police - Now THAT'S how to do it! Or - while I'm on the subject - he couldn't begin to match Mark Knopfler's technical ability!

Alot of stupid comments by haters. I think The Edge is the Mozart of the electric guitar. Im a musician, so I know how difficult it is to write good music. For me, The Edge's guitar melodies are like classical music played in a electric guitar. When you hear the melodies in songs like Gloria, Sunday Bloody Sunday, or Electric Co...just to name a few of his over 100 masterpieces, I drop to the floor because this guy is a music writting genius.

Best guitar composer of all time. His guitar melodies are second to none. He may not be the fatest guitar player, but the leads and melodies he plays are like classical music.

The Edge is underrated because he is not spittin out machnine gun sweeps,and arpeggios.
There is only 1 guitarist that sounds like him,as a matter of fact,he will give Edge a run foe his money,and I predict eclipse him.

Can't someone understand!? Guitar isn't about how fast you play, how many notes you play. It's the sound. Tbh i think guitar players like Slash sounds like crap, but that's just me, why do you go into a Edge movie and start typing ho wmuch you hate him?
I think he's one of the best guitarists ever, not cause he plays fast or great solo's, but he sounds better than anyone else

yeah so true, the edge is simply one of the greatest guitarists.hes simply a kind of musical genius, his guitar playing and tunes make U2 so great, and yeah nobody sounds like him. i mean hes a great innovator in guitar playing(youll know it when you listen to U2)( hes the one who invented the guitar playing style using delay effects that sounds like tinklng or edgy sound-i thnk thats why dave evens is called and known as THE EDGE =) .

Edge is simpy GREAT!!! He doesn't show off like most of guitarist, that's why he's underrated, but he deffinitely belongs in top 10. And, what I like most about him is that he plays for the song, not for himself. :)

Let me tell you about 'The Edge'. Man, he is THE most over-rated musician on the planet. He's built a reputation on cheap-tricks, like delay and chorus - truth be told, Andy Summers does this with much more talent. However, 'The Police' didn't rise to fame on the back of sorry political statements. 'The Egg' has little-or-no-talent and would falter if presented with a real song like 'Smoke on the Water, 'Black Dog', Surfin' with the Alien' etc. BTW - the Egg has absolutely no 'feeling' at all.
