  • Can you 20 stack this?

  • That thing is so "trailer trash" that it is actually kinda cool.

  • better if they made these out of metal

  • This sounds good just the same.

  • So apparently, Smokey Amp can support a 4x12 cab but the battery dies quickly.

  • Less talking, more playing.

  • schematic sir & the value of the parts ?

  • STFU AND PLAY

  • 'you're not going to be using this for recording' the black keys would disagree.

  • WATCH THIS: youtube.com/watch?v=YHfoON7ukSc

  • LOL

  • Goddamit STFU AND PLAY,

    I have those "reviews" videos

  • can you make a explanation how thats done.?

im planing to make a ampli with 7 or less volts ampli...

  • Where did you find the schematics? I'm lookin to build a amp head like this and hook it up to two 1x12 cabnets thanks. Rock n Roll All nite!

  • i did work experience in a recording studio this week, they had one of these and during a recording they hooked the guitarist up to one of these and put the amp at the bottom of a keg.. sounded really mad

  • LOOOOOOL nice idea :D:D I like it

  • stfu and play

  • Believe it or not Billy G. of ZZ Top used to plug into a little Smokey and then run it into his multigazzilion dollar amp head just for that particular sound on some jams because it didn't have to be found, just put an A/B switch between the axe and let er rip!.

And the lil bastich will power a cab...has to be seen to be believed. Must be all that psychobilly freakout that went into every one.saw one run right over a pignose one night Yup, the power of Satan, we bring good things to life!

  • Hey, thanks for this video.

Your voice reminds me of my brother-in-law.

    He's a git.

  • What's the name of the song at 1:55 ish? Sounds good.

  • @19Maddog81

The song is by Incubus - Sick sad little world :)

  • the first song choice is inspired :P

  • I would assume that you are not American from your accent, and from my experiences with cigarettes in other countries, they come in different shaped boxes depending on where they are being sold.

So, I would assume that that shape looks odd to you because it's the shape that we are accustomed to here in America.

  • can you use this with an ipod?

  • @96tomlm not, it has full size jacks not earphone jacks

  • Is this thing made of card?

  • SEE MY AMP:

    youtube.com/watch?v=YHfoON7ukSc

  • can dis work with a eletric drum kit?

  • I'm using this to play with my band.

  • For something you can shove in your pocket, it's pretty damn awesome

  • cool for something that fits in your pocket

  • so, it works withiout an amp???????ß

  • @GreenDayGuitar14 it is an amp

  • @GreenDayGuitar14 it is the amp

  • does it work wid an mp3 player

  • can i buy it from u

  • "It sounds a little bit tinney" Yeah but I like that sound man, good tone.

  • does anybody know how this amp sounds with a bass guitar?

  • can they break easy???

  • Sounds better than my piece of crap Line 6.

  • can you use Smokey Amp on acoustic electric? just wondering how it would sound and stuff

  • yea illustrate what is sounds like

what the fuck is he on

  • awsome demo man! nice bit of incubus there

not the nicest sounding amp obviously, but i can see it being good for old school dirty blues sounds

these can be used as fuzz if you plug the output into an amp cant they?

  • It said in the vid that you wouldnt use it for recording, Hendrix and ZZ top have and a fair few others....

  • whats the fucking point of this please??

  • @fretboarder to demonstrate de sound of it like he says IN THE VIDEO

i think its a good one

  • im talking about the point of the amp not the video..the video was well done..

  • sorry for that then.. and i think the first point on having a smokey amp is the fun of building one yourself.

  • no problem no need to appologise..i know what you mean but if i knew how to build amps i would build a bigger usable amp:)

  • These amplifiers can drive up to a 4X12 cabinet and still jam with drums! You have to try one.

  • how does it sound going through a cab?

  • Through my Carvin 4x12 it sounds British, and through a Jensen 2x12 cab it sounds like a clean to dirty tube fender. It's actually a really good tool to get to know your guitar, because the only tone control you have is pickup selection and the tone pot. You must go to your local music shop and test drive immediately.

  • sounds good even if it does sound backwards linking one of these little amps to a cab..cheers for the reply.

  • @fretboarder they are portable. don't need to plug them into a wall. for practicing while traveling really.

  • @NewMusicSpacequake yep but id rather have a vox amplug it would smoke this..pardon the pun lol cheers man,

  • @fretboarder its just a cool portable amp(:

  • Symptom Of The Universe played through a cigarette box! brilliant!

  • I used to have one of these and for best sound the battery must be new. Once it starts dying the sound is crappy. Just an FYI.

  • haha sick sad little world, nice

  • vince ray is massive in the psychobilly, rockabilly, or hot rod scene. almost all artwork for those styles are by him and he has lot's of clothing designs. He is also in 2 bands. the Vincent Razorbacks, and Vince Ray and the Boneshakers. They've supported bigbands like The Reverend Horton Heat and were the support band on the Stray Cats Farewell tour of 2008/9

  • Thanks for the background - I actually didn't know who that was! :)

  • can you plug a wah pedal in it?

  • Don't see why not. Next time I have one to hand I'll try it.

  • @shahid1618 it can work as a wah-wah on its own......step on the speaker thingy with your foot and release etc...works quite well..its a durable little thing :D

  • @IfOnlyWeCouldFly1 You can actually use the amp itself as a wah pedal. If you're wearing socks and you put the amp on the floor, you can gently put your foot over the speaker and lift it up and down as you're playing and it sounds quite a bit like a wah pedal. It takes some practice to get good at it, but it's neat.

  • i getting one of these from guitar center i was just checking out what it sounds like.

  • hey, you can open some cracks in the plastic cover of the speaker, you'll have a real nice sound.

  • Comment removed

  • i'd like to hear heartbreaker with led zeppelin on this thing. prefferably connected to a cabinet (if you have on around).

i'm also wondering, can you use this as a guitar pedal and plug it into your amps guitar input or will that burn the pre-amp stage?

    nice video!

  • or maybe stairways to heaven

  • replacing the mylar cone speaker with a paper cone speaker, or maybe even those new parabolic chrome looking ones often used for iPods or Computers should help improve the sound.

  • incubus

  • That was sweet man! Good sound. 5 Stars!

I just posted a video showing that I jammed a Smokey amp into a Red Bull can. Come see!

  • i just bought one of these for around $30 just waiting for it to arrive :P

  • is the overdrive always this muddy or is it the camera?

  • the overdrive is fairly muddy

  • how much these cost

  • can u please help me. i will get a guitar and im not sure itll hav controls (electric) will i get the input out put thing with the guitar and how will it sound?. the guitar is a first act metallic black.

  • I am a proud owner of a smokey amp!

    Ideal for on the road!

  • yeah but its annoying cos to get a clean sound you have to turn it down...which is somtimes too quiet...

  • and can you please tell me tha specifications of the smokey amp

  • Hey there, this is a great amp to play with but I have a question. When you said that the transistor is starting to overdrive how long can you play like that because its temperature is going up. I built an amp myself but its a little bit bigger it has a 20W speaker and 2 transistors and they are really getting hotter the louder signal I give to the amp. (I put a radiator and it's fine now) but I will probably build one like this micro AMP is cool (especially the distortion effect).

  • were can i buy one does anyone know

  • my local guitar store has them. look at one of those

  • I LOVE IT! gotta buy one!

  • that is a toy

  • It's good for the road

  • dose it have good overdrive, please reply

  • so bad

  • sweet Incubus riff!!!!

  • can you plug this into a mic for a harmonica?????

  • Someone buys leads from Soundcontrol/Reverb... =] yeah I love these amps, they can power 4x12. It's not very loud ofcourse but I mean it still poduces a sound - amazin little amps =]

  • thats amazing!

  • i love that tone im not a big bass man my self im a big fan of early AC/DC tone which is very trebly

  • hmm interesting....could you gig with it?

  • If you plug it into a cab, you probably could. But I suspect the 9v battery wouldn't last the night. On its own, it's not loud enough to compete with drums.

  • i suppose you could theoretically get a 9v power source with an adapter for nine volt battery plugs, then run the output to a DI

  • @abesraham sorry but there's just no chance you could gig with this. I couldn't even gig with a 15 watt amp.

  • Can you plug 2 guitars in this or a guitar and a microphone?

  • Neither - just one input. The other jack is for output to a speaker cab.

  • wats better, the ciggarett box version or the polycarbonate 1? i wana get1 but im not sure which is better

  • I don't have the polycarbonate version, but I suspect that there will be no difference to the sound, just durability.

  • Nice vid man, thanks. sounds libertiney at low guitar volume. 5/5

  • good, good, good!! creative!!11

  • you should really try putting it through a cab or into a bigger amp, it gets an awesome tone through an amp imo.

  • bit scratchy isnt it?

  • how much are they? (aus)

  • HI MAN VERY GOOG MINI AMP AND VERY GOOD INFO ... BUT I HAVE A QUESTION: I HAVE A PEAVY RAGE 158 WITH 15w AND I WANT TO BUY THIS LITTLE BEAUTIFUL THING... WHAT I HAVE TO DO? BUY IT & STAY WITH 2 AMPS OR DON´T BUY IT?

    GOOD LUCK!

  • This thing isn't quite going to replace your practice amp. You'd have to replace the battery all the time, and really no low end in the sound. So if you want to get hold of this thing, great - but consider it an addition.

  • very informative! nice vid! I've brought one, but i'm still waiting for it!

  • I heard some incubus in there! Sick, Sad, Little World.

  • Thanks for the vid dude. I am wondering, how about putting the guitar through a pedal then into this amp, to get a chunkier distortion sound out of it? I want to do some street ninja guitar action, and this amp looks about the right size for that, but it's not heavy metal. If I stuck a Marhsall pedal in my pocket, do think it's rock and roll, or cock and balls?

  • I haven't tried it - but there's no low end coming out of that speaker, so you'll be able to get good fuzz, but you won't be getting Marshall stack tone.

  • Yeah there would still be no low end, but the notes that are being played would have are more consistent distortion on them. From the vid, it seems that if you just crank the volume on the guitar, you dont really get full on distortion, especially on individual notes, and it sounds bluesy

  • Was that an extra battery in the box? i see online stores selling the amp in the polycarbonate case only, I was wondering where the battery fits then?

  • From the store I bought it from, it came with one fitted battery, but no spares.

  • if you don't like the sound it make then go buy a bigger speaker to replace the small one.

  • if you plug it into a speaker, with the speaker out, it actually does sound pretty big and nice, well actually very nice (donno bout big so much though)
