Carrotjuse, how the hell can you say that Bush sent us into this economy crash when he not only increased banking leverage but tried his best to limit bank loans. Organizations like Acorn or presidents like clinton are the ones who pressured banks and mortgage companies to loan to people who couldn't afford them causing the housing bubble to crash.
The financial collapse, the stock market crash, massive unemployment and layoffs, housing foreciosures, 9/11, etc, they all happened during the Texas cowboy's watch. GDP went up and unemployment went down steadily during FDR's presidency. There was one dropoff and that was precisely the time during which FDR cut spending to balance the budget. Govt spending went through the roof for WWII and then tax rates were very high for the wealthiest Americans for the next couple decades to pay back the debt. Meanwhile the economy grew faster than it has anytime since.

The stimulus ended up being 40% tax cuts right? That is pretty close to Rush's criterion. Of course, NONE of the republicans voted for it in congress. That will teach Obama to reach out.
According to Keynes, during a recession, you cut taxes, and lower interest rates to stimulate spending and private investment. In addition, each dollar of govt spending is supposed to create more than 1 dollar in additional GDP (the difference depends on how far the economy is producing below its capacity with full employment). Once the recession is curbed, then you return interest rates, taxes and govt spending to steady-state levels.
Limbaugh always says that WWII got us out of the Great Depression. That is evidence that govt spending stimulates the economy. Keynesians argue that the spending can be on defense, infrastructure, digging holes and filling them, etc. Defense spending doesn't produce a consumable commodity, yet it stimulated the economy.
So yeah, tax cuts are better than no tax cuts, but spending is better than tax cuts.

I am saying that Social Security has been irresponsibly funded. If the leaders in government would have left the money alone the interest rate alone would have let the moneys keep up with the demand of the program. I am saying Social Security looks good on paper but was doomed to fail because in order to fund it you take from one class of people to give to another class and because the bureaucracies that run the program use the program as a piggy bank (since LBJ). Social Security is a Failure.

GDP went up and unemployment went down steadily during FDR's presidency. There was one dropoff and that was precisely the time during which FDR cut spending to balance the budget. Govt spending went through the roof for WWII and then tax rates were very high for the wealthiest Americans for the next couple decades to pay back the debt. Meanwhile the economy grew faster than it has anytime since.

According to Keynes, during a recession, you cut taxes, and lower interest rates to stimulate spending and private investment. In addition, each dollar of govt spending is supposed to create more than 1 dollar in additional GDP (the difference depends on how far the economy is producing below its capacity with full employment). Once the recession is curbed, then you return interest rates, taxes and govt spending to steady-state levels.

Limbaugh always says that WWII got us out of the Great Depression. That is evidence that govt spending stimulates the economy. Keynesians argue that the spending can be on defense, infrastructure, digging holes and filling them, etc. Defense spending doesn't produce a consumable commodity, yet it stimulated the economy.
So yeah, tax cuts are better than no tax cuts, but spending is better than tax cuts.

Child labor laws, federally insured banks (FDIC) irrigation policies that made America the bread basket of the world, and much more. The Great depression did not end until the war production went into effect but with out these reforms the war productIon that took place could not have happened!

Hoover raised the Taxes on the producers in 1929, FDR put up Tariffs that screwed the country's ability to trade with the world which caused a depression on a depression. The NEW Bill was written up by the DEMs only, without any Republican input. 11% of the Bill has Stimulus that might aid the economy. The Taliban is the Pakistani ISI (Inter-service Intelligence) and was not supported by the US. However to straighten things out for you; the Mujahedeen was supported by the US Government, and was the Liberators of Afghanistan. I fail to see the point that if we once supported someone in the past (Saddams War against Iran), we must be doomed to support this person in spite of their mistakes or problems. I am saying that Social Security has been irresponsibly funded. If the leaders in government would have left the money alone the interest rate alone would have let the moneys keep up with the demand of the program. I am saying Social Security looks good on paper but was doomed to fail because in order to fund it you take from one class of people to give to another class and because the bureaucracies that run the program use the program as a piggy bank (since LBJ). Social Security is a Failure.
