I LOVE THIS SONG IF YOU DONT KNOW ME BY NOW THIS WAS MY JAM BACK IN THE DAYS WHEN I WAS YOUNGER STILL WET BEHIND THE EARS BUT NOW I AM ALL GROWN UP AND WISER NOW I HAVE ALOT OF EXPERIENCE I HAVE LEARN FOR MY MISTAKES BACK THEN. LOVE ME SOME TEDDY PENDERGRASS HES GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER I KNOW YOUR UP IN HEAVEN STILL SINGING WITH THE ANGELS.
Hogan85 The reason Bernie, Larry and Lloyd left was because Teddy left. At the time however, Lloyd was not with the group; it was Jerry Cummings. The group was in LA when Teddy left. Teddy went solo, singing the songs until his recording date came up. Harold had to get a whole new group. Bernie and Larry got their old singer, John, to lead. Teddy did solo performances for people like Sammy Davis Jr. when Sammy had his show, Sammy and Company in DC. How do I know? I was their band leader.
It is good to see this, and Teddy with his hair fried, dyed and laid to the side! Teddy was smart! Go get his old interviews. Teddy was orchestrating his transformation into The Teddy Bear while he was doing all of these shows for Harold Melvin. He knew to wear his hair different from the group to maintain a noticable difference to set himself apart, even though his amazing lead voice stood out. Which one is Harold Melvin? One of the cats with an afro,LOL! Malik Jubal
I didn't even know it was him until the camera got close. Its the 70's black folks were wearing afros, left the konk in the 60's. But I still love Teddy P. Always!
I love this music... I could not stop laughing at Teddy P's relaxed wig!! I wonder if my dad sported this look haha time to peruse through old photos haha thanks for posting
@Tonae88 Hell yeah you can download this and burn it to a dvd. Go on the interenet and google your question until you find the right answer. It really works like magic!
@Tonae88 there are a few programs you can use to convert youtube vids to an mp3 format. than you can make a cd with them. i use a program called dvdvideosoft ... one word .. just google and download its free and safe... I filled my ipod with help from this...
:tears: wow...Teddy became the BlueNotes by himself!! He was how old in this clip...22? Wow...!! He was a kid with great backup and a precious voice (tears) sheesh That hair definitely made me smile in the midst of the tears, though lol
Wow! They almost did this acappella at the beginning;that really would have been spectacular!.Very soulful version with shades of doo -wop.Although I much preferred the original Blue Notes who sang "My Hero",back in the day, these guys were very impressive.
I didn't know that Harold Melvin was cold the way he was. All I can say is that he did Teddy wrong. Just because he had a better voice than he did. Just watch Unsung & it will tell you about the kind of person he was.
LISTEN MEN JUST LISTEN TO THE MAN. LISTEN TO THE LYRICS HE'S SAYING. FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T QUITE SURE IF YOU ARE NOT RIGHT PUT "GOD" IN IT INSTEAD OF A WOMAN OR A MAN. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HIM BY NOW YOU WON'T NEVER EVER EVER KNOW HIM......
That`s no perm Teddy has, thats a WIG! But the brotha was young back then, so I`m gonna cut him some slack for that hair. LOL Check him out this season on TV1`s 'Unsung", if you haven`t already.
IF I WAS ONLY BORN TO BE OF AGE TO WITNESS THIS. I WOULDV'E JUST BEEN GIVING TEDDY BABIES....SMILE. THAT MAN THAT MAN THAT QUIET CONFIDENCE THAT EMOTION THAT VOICE THAT SMILE THAT CHARISMA. IT SEEMED LIKE HE WAS SHY TOO THAT'S EVEN SEXXXXXXXXIER IN A BLACK MAN YES LAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!
Testify "HOT CHOCOLATE!!". Teddy RULED it hands down. I love his expression in singing to you he was so RAW with it. " WE ALL GOT OUR OWN FUNNY MOODS" yes Teddy I hear ya'. God only knows if he hadn't had that accident I don't think any of the others that came behind him could stand the competition. He's so smooth with his delivery he's not rubbing & grabbing himself to RELAY THE MESSAGE OF THE LYRICS TO THE WOMEN and that's why this man could have "WOMEN ONLY CONCERTS".........WHEUWWWWW!!!
The only voice that comes close to sounding like the one and only Teddy Pendergrass is the artist Jahiem. If anyone has payed attention to his voice, in my opinion, he's the only one who could do it.
@hughenmatt Teddy looks and sounds so seasoned to only have been just 23 years of age. Men looked and sounded far more mature (like Otis Redding-26 yrs old when he died), back in the day. I guess circumstances forced them to be men early.
