I want to chime in here too.

I had my account banned over a couple of videos I uploaded from Frank in Barcelona 1988.

I've never sold a note of music to anyone nor have I ever profitted from any video or audio that I've either traded for or captured myself. I think Ms Zappa is indeed choosing to be rather nearsighted here regarding Franks music. Allowing videos to be seen on youtube will only enhance his fan base.

Frank Zappa is becoming lost to the times! 200 motels and the uncle meat movies are IMPOSSIBLE to find and the only zappa stuff on iTunes is the beat the boots recordings (which arent very good). I'm totally with you. This stringent and litigious attitude by Mrs. Zappa will succeed in keeping good music out of the ears of the uninitiated. It's kinda like when Frank split from the Mothers and "retired" so that the ignorant public could "catch up" with his genius, or when he released "We're Only In It For The Money" on CD with newly recorded parts on it (like slap bass!). Brilliant marketing!

My point was that only someone with a history of shooting himself in the foot in the field of self-promotion would put out a classic album like WOIIFTM with crappy "modern" embellishments and think it's "better" (sarcasm again). i agree. Hot Rats is one of my favorite cds, but i listened to the reissue and its too different. the guitars sound (good, but) not at all like im used to and some tracks got barried in the mix and cant be heard anymore. Classics are classic for a reason

Talk about shooting herself in the foot. There are many musicians on Youtube who are more famous now than they were when they were alive (Guitarist Michael Hedges for example...). When I see some I like here on YT I go buy a CD to hear a quality recording. i Tunes sucks because the mp3 format is crap. I would consider this free advertising! She's alienating fans and preventing new fans.
