Personally I can't really tell the difference between Australian and English accents, I know there is one because I can sort of tell, but I really just can't figure out the how lol. I get confused with people who claim to have a "Canadian" accent whilst sounding pretty American to me lol. However, I for one can save you the trouble of calling myself a cultural ignoramous haha. Maybe the part of the country you're from speaks a slightly different accent than what we Americans think is a "British" accent so it sounds wrong to you?
