A trend I tend to notice with Japanese anime & videogames is that a lot of them try to tackle the issue of what it is to be 'Human' (Elfen Lied, Hellsing, Claymore, Devil May Cry, etc), and the only American show I've seen that tackles this same issue is Dexter (also very well done).
This guy was born in chicago? why aint he constantly at acen man its his hometown, or atleast in the two years I have been going there i have not seen him there. And by the way I like vic hes a real geek at heart and shows that its ok to be a christian anime fan. and so is Johnny yong Bosch, and I belive Yuri Lowenthal is too.
@Quietbetrayal There's a difference between a weeaboo and someone who watches anime. A weeaboo is somebody who believes that Japan is fundamentally superior to the rest of the world, watches shounenshit like Naruto, and butchers the Japanese language.
A lot of people watch anime just because it is the only medium aside from novels which has continuous plot, allowing more depth and character development. A weeaboo wouldn't be able to name a single anime which actually makes use of this properly.
@Iisankun No i'm pretty sure you are just adding more depth to something that people just use to slander anyone who likes anime or things from Japan. your common FPS chest thumping primate would see somebody watching anime or likes anime and just call them a weeaboo.
this is why anime will always be 1000000% better than anything america puts out. because anime can be serious! american cartoons now are just there to shut kids up for 5 minutes. they used to be worth watching.
@BreaktheChainsofFate From what I've seen, he's much more of an intellectual. He doesn't preach, he rather looks back on historical events. He's been known to go off on rants about various "lectures/books on tape" he has on his iPod and so forth. So, I suppose there's no evidence to say he isn't religious in some way, he's just not open about it if he is.
@BreaktheChainsofFate He doesn't preach. I can understand getting annoyed with it though. I myself am christian, but it still annoys me when people can't separate work or hobbies with religion. Most of the people my family works with are like that.
However I've been to multiple cons with vic and I've never heard him preach. He'll talk about it, but only when it relates to the situation.
@BreaktheChainsofFate You make it sound like a convention is some kind of God free religion free zone. If someone's a Christian or a Buddhist or whatever, they're not going to suddenly stop being one once they walk into a convention. If they're being in your face about it, yeah, that'd be annoying. But I won't fault the guy for being open about his beliefs. If anything, you're idea is to aggressively force your lack of belief on others by declaring conventions "God free".
@BreaktheChainsofFate That, and if someone that believes in something being open about what he believes is something that bothers you enough to go all CAPS on us, you may not want to avoid panels held by said person. Though I do understand Vic's pretty much everywhere.
@BreaktheChainsofFate So you complain about someone being religious or preachy at events you don't go to, and don't even like? At least you don't have to worry about meeting Vic anytime soon. Also, if you're going to insult someone in a YouTube comment, please at least try and think of something other than "fag".
@BreaktheChainsofFate Congratulations, I don't hear that often. However, unless you can reply with more than a simple insult, this conversation has no further purpose. Stay classy.
@hatakekoibito123 I My Me Strawberry Eggs. A solid watch, and a bit better than your average gender-bender for many of the reasons Crispin touched on IMO (not that there are too many anime dealing mainly in that genre to begin with)
Crispin has a good point there about anime being able to portray serious subjects, but the problem is is that for every anime that does that it seems like there are 10 others (atleast) that are just horrible and stereotypical and focus a little too much on the female anatomy.

I agree with what he's saying, so very true... if only american animation was more open to sensitive topics..

@Quietbetrayal It's an improper use of the term then, it originally never even meant that (I'm sure you can look it up somehwhere...).
Kids misusing memes =/= actual definition.
