hey! tomorrow i'm gonna buy this guitar. i have a question: i have searched for some 8-string sets on the internet and i've only found an ernie ball set; the problem is that the gauge is 0.10 and I play 0.9... does anybody know if there are some 0.9 eight string sets? and if not, where can i find a string wich is big enough? i don't wanna use bass strings because the magnetism does not work exactly like guitar strings and it would sound quite bad... any advice? thank you guys!

Ich habe diese Gitarre auch schon angespielt, allerdings mit Drop E tuning.

Ich bin auch Fan von tiefen Gitarren, aber irgendwann reicht es auch. Whitechapel und All Shall Perish benutzen diese eig. recht gut, aber sonst gefällt mir das nicht, vorallem das dicke Griffbrett, Sweep über 8 Saiten ist extrem schwer, auf meiner 7-Saiter fand ich es am Anfang schon schwer, aber dort scheint es mir fast unmöglich...

Alles in einem finde ich es gut für Künstler, aber an sich etwas überflüssig.

It's not that Line 6 sucks, this guy just has no clue about 8-strings and how to set up a tone. Meshuggah uses Line 6 Vettas and that's it, they just know what they're doing.

I have some of the best tone ive had since I got a half stack and some stomp boxes, im done with porcessors, they ruin and suck tone. Kustom Quad Jr is plenty loud and has decent Celestions in it. its a 4 channel with some ok high gain tones. stomp boxes do the trick. line 6 is UBER Digital sounding and Overly scooped to me.

Has anyone thought of adding a high A above the top E rather than having an ultra low Fsharp?

I was thinking you could move all the strings down one and add a high A. That way you still get a low B but also a high A for different chord voicings and soloing.

The only good thing are the EMG pickups, the other stuffs are completly insane without being a natural and normal guitar, for me, this is not a guitar, this only seems to be a huge piece of wood to put in the houses fireplaces ;)

@Nightshadeillusions rga8 is a better option. the guitar is almost the same accept the built quality isnt as good and it doesnt come with EMG's. but if they were going to be changed out then it doesnt matter. and its $1200 cheaper. oh, and the body has an arched top, which the rg2228 doesnt have

@Nightshadeillusions i hate schecters. the damien (my name haha) elites are quality, ill admit, but they sound like SHIT and the necks are way too thick. its like playing a baseball bat. if your going for a good 7, go for an old ibanez rg7620 (they stopped making them in '99 so the price went from $1200 to $400. theyre just all used) or an rg7621, which is the same as the 7620, but a fixed bridge. or try agile guitars at rondomusic(.)com. theyre ok quality but great prices!!

Schecter's 8 string for the win, if you wanna use it for recording, thos Agile's are made with less quality of wood, and the pickups are only moderately ok. i'd change the pickups if i bought an Agile, Rondo music is selling them, they are made in Korea. i like the ESP Stephen carpenter but it costs 3000 bux or more, no one should spend that much on a guitar unless every part is custom to your liking. the LTD version has his signature on the 12th fret, no thanks, Schecter wins.

Swap that bridge EMG for the Lundgren M8 and then youll have the best sound for that guitar. I just think Ibanez needs to make a Fredrik Thordendal signature 8 for under 3k. Who knows who? When you tune this down to F and or change the gage of the strings it is going to affect the intonation. They really needed to make the scale longer on this guitar. That is why Marten said they had to send the first ones back. IT has issues as is but worth the $!. See my custom work on my page & stay tuned!

Allgemein ist der Sound bei fast allen Reviews die Joey macht total beschissen :D Irgendwie bekommt er es immerhin den Amp so einzustellen das es nicht gut klingt, gibt nur wenige videos in denen es nicht so ist ;) besonders gruselig find ich den Sound in dem Vid wo die Esp signatur V von Nergal (glaub ich) vorgestellt wird :D
