  • by far my favorite song by bad religion

  • most intelligent band in the world. i would want to meet greg any day. he has the bes voice it really speaks to you,

  • This is history AND the future all in one song. Amazing.

  • this is the most messed up thing I've ever read:

Long ago in a dusty village,

Full of hunger, pain and strife,

A man came forth with a vision of truth,

And the way to a better life,

He was convinced he had the answer,

And he compelled people to follow along,

    But the hunger never vanished,

    And the man was banished,

And the village dried up and died

  • @47littlemen indeed.

  • @47littlemen You may or may not want to Google gurochan...

DOn't worry...I was trolled with that also. :S

  • @47littlemen Its not messed up, its what happened all along the history, most in the middle east.

  • @jcorlettbr well you are right

  • I knew there would be these kind of comments in this song... hehe =) great song guys, Bad Religion is just great.

  • woowwww the ansqwer.....

  • the problem is there is no argument between science and religion if taken of the platform they have been put on, combine what works of both and tell the rest to fuck off. no figures to lead or follow, just be.

  • @oo7sk8punk Existence for the sake of existence is Futile and endless

  • @lolzomgz1337 agreed that it is endless, however it's only futile if you feel your conscientiousness is worthless

  • I note a minor "argument" between science and religion below, but the song seems to say the firs t man was a prophet and the second was a scientist, and they were both wrong, and he seems to be saying to just believe your own answers, and if your naive enough to think you know for sure what happened , then be happy in your ignorance

  • @MaxCrooks Naw, If you read it, you'd notice I'm not picking sides. :3

  • @MaxCrooks The scientist can be naive, not the science itself.

The principle of the science is to know it dont have all the answers.

  • @MaxCrooks But the second man, Galileo, was right; the heavens do change in predictable ways.

I think the point is that the first man, Jesus, was wrong, but people took it as truth and denied the people who were actually right. "The Answer" is religion, and the song states that religion appeals to the naive. I interpreted the people "begging for an answer without regards to validity" is people accepting religion because they need some kind of explanation for the unexplainable.

  • This song makes me feel like i'm at #occupyboston

  • I've always loved how Social D is on the cover of the album. I saw Bad Religion, Rancid, Tiger Army and Social D play together in like 2004 i think it was, but Imagine seeing Bad religion and Social D playing together back in the 80's OMG I think i woulda creamed my pants

  • The answer is Burning for you...

The question is 'Name a Blue Oyster Cult song'

  • @BrendanOnTheMoor

Godzilla, Astronomy ( metallica coverd it pretty well)

  • You're missing a line in the last verse!!! Just a heads up.

  • There is nuthing beta than this style of punk

  • For This Day, I've Found My Answer.

Thank You Bad Religion For The Melodic Hardcore Goodness.

  • "I don't believe u have the answers. I've got ideas too!!"

    Dare to think for yourself...

  • The harmonies they play are fit for a clerical composition.

  • You're right. Greg is a priest.

  • I am a sucker for this era of #BadReligion but IMHO this song is perfect.

  • Hands down my favorite song of all songs... this song can be applied to any time in human history... and will be still be time and times from now...

  • I am 50 I still lisen to this

  • You know I had a cashiering job for years in an area with a lot of christian people & I was not. I had a lot of them try to pray with me & convert me and after a particular time where it was extremely upsetting a friend of mine played this for me and its meant a lot and has been a fav. for years because its the way I really felt about organized religion. Bad Religion is now a favorite band of mine to this day. For you that enjoy this song faith alone is another great song by them.

  • falta ao Brasil bandas como essa !

  • I listened to Bad Religion a lot at age 13-14. Now at age 20, I'm finding all these little nuances that I missed before and it's like listening to the music for the first time again. This was, is, and always will be my favorite BR song. It really helped shaped my life in ways that I'm only now beginning to see.

  • @rugbyfitness792

One you start understanding the lyrics you realise that this aply's to life. This band inspired my skeptical thinking, i'm no longer a creationist

  • I miss my fuckin youth :( this still KICKS!

  • love this song

  • @musicmania1977 you'd love anything that justified your pathetic existence long enough for you to forget that ur part of the problem not the answer

  • Zero dislikes, as it should be. :D

  • Ive got ideas too

  • gr8 song no doubt...........shit yea boi...fuckin oats fuckers!!!!!!1

  • The hunger never vanishes

  • Long live Bad Religion!!!!

  • i prefer how could hell be any worse and no control

  • Bad Religion...... THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was the greatest album I've ever owned.

  • On another note, this was the first BR song i learned on bass...mainly due to the chords being in the liner notes....I sound like the harley guy!

  • I searched "Bad Religion when they were good" and this was #1

  • Could someone write the missing lyrics at the end please : )

  • @metafisicajoe It is the previous verse over again

  • @metafisicajoe An urban sprawl sits choking on its discharge overwhelmed by industry. Searching for a modern day savior from another place, inclined toward charity. Everyone begging for an answer without regard to validity. The searching never ends, it goes on and on and on for eternity.

  • this is good

  • I'm 14, I have generator and no controll on my iPod ,I prefer generator tho, this is my favorite song right now no one I know had heard of this band except my dad and I'm just like y the ... Haven't u heard of them

  • @ericknight7 You have an ipod?? Now thats NOT punk. :)

  • @theeggize its a shuffle very small clips to belt loop good 4 skateing to small for buttons on it lol

  • @ericknight7 Okay shuffle might be okay. But dont get one of those gay ass iphones :)

  • @theeggize Don't tell me what the answer to what being "punk" is. I don't believe you have the answer, I've got ideas too.

  • @NickSkate7 Sure you do

  • @theeggize ;)

  • @NickSkate7 shut up dick

  • @MrNorthernson Your right I never should have what I said, your absolutely right and I'm deeply remorseful for ever saying something you didn't like. And you are sooo right saying that to musicmania. After all who is he to say he likes the song. I know he is as sorry as me and we will try to please you with are comments next time your majesty. Goshh I still cant believe musicmania said he liked the song...

  • @ericknight7

Get Against the Grain and The Empire Strikes First. I think those are my favorites at the moment. They were awesome back in the 80s and they're still awesome today. Most bands reach a point where they start to suck after 20-30 years. Not Bad Religion.

  • man greg told the future he is the new nostradamus o_0 doh!_!!!

  • man............. i love greg, amazing man.

  • film jaki film . muzyka jest wypas

  • This aint music, its art!

  • @theeggize your fuckin right, man. This is art, poesy, wisdom and great, great music all rolled into one. Oh, how i love Bar Religion! They are spot on!

  • fuckin rite-drumming is SIC-play it again sam=

  • fuckin rite-drumming is SIC

  • Best lyrics to any punk song imo. This is a prophecy.

  • lol...i dont know what to say...pure epicness!!!

  • This is why Bad Religion are true artists....

  • love this old song,

  • A song for all seekers! Bwah haaaa! In the end, we find that all we have is ourselves and those who surround us. I do love this song. Not like I own 13 Bad Religion albums or anything...

  • God I fuckin love this fuckin song. Jesus Christ I love this song. Good Heavens this song is so great. Im on cloud 9 when I listen to this song. Good lord this song is so good. Oh Jesus, Mary and Joseph this song is immaculate in every way.

  • @Xproletariatx God Bless The Uploader!!

  • @blackpanda32

    there is no... "god"!!!

there is just a piece of shit, watching the human killing them self...

when there is a god... oh my fucking god...

he must be the satan in person...

  • @inecrew To be perfectly honest none can say either way, it's pointless to argue over it.

  • @lolzomgz1337 Word.

  • @lolzomgz1337 @lolzomgz1337 There really is no god, If there was a god there would be no science cause science completely contradicts religion. Not to mention any higher power having several religions based off one person but different beliefs, but yet each claim to be the right one. Look at Mormonism... they are racist as fuck (not now but up until I believe the 70's anyone of color was not welcome)...

plain and simple there is no god, only Ideas and everyone has them.

  • @MyRubb You really think that the ONLY way God could exist is by Religion being right? Religion MIGHT be a bunch of crap but that dosn't mean that a being (So called "God") Didn't ignite the big bang, or was the cataylst for evolution - science dosnt inherently contridict god.

  • @MyRubb Also it's intresting to note that almost all religions - at a base level - are just diffrent interpritations of the same scrypture. Also (Btw I consider myself Atheist) There is not a SINGLE scientific FACT, ALL science is only theory - we have yet to difinitively prove anything - I rocognise this despite considering myself quite scientific - I'm just saying that it's outright arogant to say either way is definate...:3

  • hey squirrelstoned chera meu saco depois de eu jogar uma partida de futebol, ok?

    =P

  • gotta love them...

  • an urban sprawl sits choking on its discharge

    overwhelmed by industry

searching for a modern day savior from another place

    inclined toward charity

    everyone's begging for an answer

    without regard to validity

    the searching never ends

it goes on and on for eternity

  • Hard song not to sing to!

  • SING!!! =D

  • Long ago in a dusty village

Full of hunger, pain and strife

A man came forth with a vision of truth

And the way to a better life

He was convinced he had the answer

And he compelled people to follow along

    But the hunger never vanished

    And the man was banished

And the village dried up and died

  • At a time when wise men peered Through brass tubes toward the sky The heavens changed in predictable ways And one man was able to find That he had thought he found the answer And he was quick to write his revelation But as they were scrutinized In his colleagues eyes He soon became a mockery Don't tell me about the answer 'cause then another one will come along soon I don't believe you have the answer I've got ideas too
  • But if you've got enought naivete And you've got conviction Then the answer is perfect for you An urban spall sits choking on its discharge Overwhelmed by industry Searching for a modern day Savior from another place Inclined toward charity Everyone's begging for an answer Without regard to validity The searching never ends It goes on and on and on for eternity
  • Brilliant song.
