In order for Nepal to have its own distinctive identity away from India, following must be taken by the Nepalese.
Buddha was born in Nepal and so the New Constitution of Nepal must make Buddhism as national religion of Nepal. More importantly Nepalese need to distinguish Hinduism.
Hinduism= Brahmanical religion + Kirati religion.
Nepalese must shift from Brahmanical religion towards Kirati religion. Kirat religion is more of worshiping of mother nature, land and ancestors.
I think I could have fun kicking it with Dalits. I think the traits I come to despise among higher caste Indians would be missing, yet the indian culture and cooking would be more pleasant than ever. I had a close indian friend who was lower caste of weavers (which ever caste that is, he never said and I didn't ask)
@Bluemula I am from Kirat tribe. The caste system was created by vedic Aryan especially Brahmins. In Rig Veda book, dating 2000BCE, it is mentioned that Kiratas fought against this system but Kiratas lost the war and so this system has been in existence since.
the destruction of Nepali society and bringing Nepalese into caste system was started when Indian Brahmin was appointed the head priest of pashupathinath temple in 14th century.
Before that nepalese society had hardly any caste system.
The Indian Brahmin priest was also responsible for claiming Nepal to be Hindu nation though nepalese have their own way of life and culture.
therefore we need to kick Indian priests out from pashupathinath temple
The Vishnu Purano states that the chatur-varna or four class social system was absent in the Kirat Desh(kirat country) in the East and the Yavanas(Greek) and Kambojas(Iranian), etc. in the West. In veda, the Himalayan region extending from Himachal Pradesh in the west, Nepal(central) toTripura in the east was referred as the "Kirat Desh".
The chatur-varna(4-class system) or caste discrimination only came to exist in Nepal after the arrival of vedic Aryan from Indian plains.
The four group Magar, Gurung, Rai and Limbu were classified under Namasine(Unslavable) matawalis (liquor drinkers) in Muluki Ain (National Code of Nepal) of 1854 as qouted by J.B Rana "yo char matwali jaat sanga kharab na gara"!
The Muluki Ain (National Code of Nepal) of 1854 set by the Rana rulers prevented Tamangs from joining British-India-Army and any government jobs in Nepal, except as Pipa (porter) in Pipa Goswara office in Singha Durbar in Kathmandu. ~ Krishna B, Bhattachan, PhD
Christians are coming into Nepal and converting many Nepalis into Christians.
The problem do not lies with the Hinduism but because of the Vedic aryan who have mixed their culture and religion with the indigenous people's culture and religion.
The "chatur-varna" for instance were brought by the vedic aryan that have ultimately destroy the world's oldest religion and culture.
One need to identify the true meaning of Hinduism and one's tradition.
I like the way that you have presented the Dalits as the multifaceted society they truly are. Excellent video. This is truly a celebration of Dalit culture. Thank you for sharing this Ted,
